Preordered from GameStop just now and then immediately canceled.
That's the boat I've been in since Friday.
E: Although I'm not sure how since it doesn't show up in my order history on the website. I guess I'd need to call.

Gamestop's shipping situation with these is fishy. The morning of the 13th they forced me to take $13+ dollar shipping and then stated free shipping later on the site while pre-orders were still available. When I called later that morning they refused to change it to free shipping saying they couldn't do that.

In all likelihood, you will most certainly receive the order through GameStop. As a Nintendo fan, more often than not it is Best Buy, Amazon, Target and Walmart who end up cancelling the orders. After that, they offer some type of goodwill incentive for business, but youre left without said game/device that would have had - had they left opinion of GameStop out and kept their order.
I see this more often from Amazon with Nintendo goods - Majoras Mask New 3DS + it's collectors edition game, Fire Emble Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates and its collectors Edition, NES Classic, etc.
Yes, I love Amazon but I know better, after all of the horror threads I've read on these types of things.
I know with GameStop, in store - they are guaranteed a certain allocation from Nintendo. So I've always done that and never missed any of the above items.
lol I did the exact same thing. Last console I preordered was the dreamcast. I was going to wait on this like I do all other consoles but the positive impression threads about the hardware got me to bite.
I've never preordered anything from GameStop. Why are people going to cancel if they amazon gets more in? Just the free shipping?

Then they will have cancelled their GameStop order to buy at Amazon and later, close to March 3rd - Amazon will cancel their order (because this happens with Nintendo things); left with no Switch to save $15.
well im happy with my amazon decision then. i don't know why gamestop doesn't offer a store pickup on launch day option tbh
NES Classic was a clusterfuck at every store, not just amazon. It also had no pre-orders. I've never pre-ordered a system on amazon until now, hoping for the best.
Was able to get two pre-orders in at Gamestop when they opened up earlier today. Got one of each colour, not sure which I want to keep. Strangely enough, I wasn't charged a sales tax for some reason, also ordered GTA about 2 weeks ago, wasn't charged a sales tax then, not even after it shipped. Strange, but it works out cheaper than Amazon because of that.
As for the shipping I did the $5 shipping, but it was 2 separate orders, I did activate 2.5% cashback from a cashback site so the shipping is only $3 in the end, not bad.

Everyone preordering multiples "just in case" gonna give Nintendo a false signal about the demand, as many of these preorders will be cancelled.

Yeah it seems like more and more people are into scalping these days... Can't really fault them when it's so easy to do and so prevalent. Makes you think "If everyone else is doing it, I'd be a fool not to."

Yep that's me. I have a 2 preorders, one at Best Buy and one at Amazon. I'm still deciding which to keep. And I've seen many others here on GAF and other boards doing the same thing.
Preorders will probably open up again in a week or two.

Yeah, this is great. I got the grey Switch and since I'm going to inevitably want a second set of Joy-Cons anyway, planning to pick up the blue set at launch so I can use either grey or blue configs
Not much different than every other major electronics launch though.
I'm personally waiting to see if my local Best Buy is updated and decided to do midnight. That will be the deciding factor in whether or not I keep my Amazon or Best Buy order.
If the relatively small portion of 'just in case' preorders fucks up Nintendo, then they have no business being in the electronics business.

If that's the case, then those people are doing a service to other people looking for a Switch who couldn't get pre-orders, assuring there's more unassigned product being shipped to stores.
Of course, a lot of these people will keep their extra pre-orders to flip them if the eBay prices continue to rise.

Ok so at this point I've been diligently checking to see if Amazon has had the neon version up and nothing! So I'm wondering to myself if anyone has actually been able to pre-order one since the pre-orders first went up. Typing in Nintendo Switch in the search bar doesn't bring anything for the neon up unless you go to like Page 2-3 to find it. If you type it in it brings it up immediately though so idk.
Just when Sony and Microsoft thought they knocked Nintendo out...

Got a neon one preordered at Best Buy for in-store pick up with midnight release, thinking of just giving up on Amazon. Like many others here, I have been refreshing the page all weekend.
There's no general switch thread in the first few pages that I can see so I don't know where to post this since I think a thread on it would be locked but -
I'm strangely pumped to get to get a case to carry around for the Switch. I'd feel really weird taking my 3DS or Vita to work but the Switch looks enough like a tablet that I don't think I'll feel too awkward carrying it around and using it in public. Not that I ever hesitated to use my handhelds in public before but as a grown man, I was always somewhat conscious of how it might look. I said it elsewhere but I'm really happy the Switch looks more like a gadget than a toy.
I'm currently looking at these cases on Amazon
I also would LOVE this one if it were just the Z instead of the damn picture on the front. Simple is better.

I really like that first case and put in a tentative pre-order. I hope Skinomi put out a set of full body skins around launch. I can't go back to nude handhelds. The feel. The smell.

I got an email yesterday saying that my neon unit will be shipped on the 11th of March, my sister however, didn't get that email although she ordered after me!
anyway.. can't really complain
I've also pre-ordered Zelda from amazon.com taking advantage of the Prime discount.. it's awesome.
Question: why is 1 2 Switch's release date listed at 29 Dec 2017?? I thought it was a launch title

Oh man, me too, the simple Z on the front and then the same pattern but no image on the back would have been so much better -- but no they give us a huge image on the front and the Z on the back.

Unfortunate it's not just like... a patch you can take off by simply removing the stitching. Other than that picture, it really does look pretty damn good. Reminds me of the sexy black Triforce faceplate for the N3DS.

I don't like that they have colored straps to match the colored Joycons but they don't include with the Joycons, they include gray ones regardless of color so you have to buy them separately.
