AMAZON US Switch up

If you have a gift card, you're actually not saving money until March.

I was a fool but hopefully my misfortune can help a few considering adding gift cards. Hold on to them, you will spend them in the future.

So I spoke with someone from a Walmart two towns over, and they said they are still taking pre orders, but I have to go inside. That's not a problem. My only concern is, how reliable is a Walmart with a console pre order? Am I guaranteed one on day one, or am I just guaranteed one, first come first serve, do they just take an unlimited amount of pre orders?

Sorry, I'm just trying to cover all my bases here, as I'm buying it for someone else.

Did they change the Switch page again on Amazon US? It seemed to be loading a massive header picture last I checked but I just reloaded and it's a tiny picture listing now.

Bleh, Amazon Japan doesn't ship the Nintendo Switch straight up internationally. Might look into a forwarding service, but it'll depend on the fees attached.

You're fine applying gift cards to the order. It's actually the recommended method if you have to change payment options.

Oh man, when did they go up on Amazon Japan? I've been refreshing all day, I leave for a little while and now it seems they're gone. The Neon is gone already and the grey shows available but when i added to cart or use 1-click checkout it tells me it's not longer available.

I lost my preorder by applying a gift card to it after preordering the second they went live.

DO NOT UPDATE ANYTHING ON YOUR SWITCH PREORDER!!

Ninten'doh!!

Yeah dont apply giftcards. I had this issue with the FFXV special edition. I applied a giftcard to it then noticed my release date changed. After talking to an amazon rep they said changing anything to a preorder put you at the back of the line. Had to pay for 1 day shipping to still get it on time. Dont screw yourself out of a switch like this.

It seems at one point amazon kept your place in line as I did the exact same thing for vita launch, but at some point since then they changed their stance on it.

Figured that's what happened, really unfair. Any way that Amazon can rectify this or do their systems not allow?

Gutted, but an important lesson to share with others.

I'm more miffed that I've tied a £200 gift card to an order I won't get back until March...

Yeah... they're all gone; went up at 7:00 PM EST on the dot. I had one in my cart, but then I had to look into Tenso. When I got back with the address information, they were all sold out.

I'll keep checking up on them, but I'm not hopeful.

That's horrible to hear! Thank heavens I didn't apply any gift card credit to my Amazon preorder when I passed my order to someone else.

I did get a call though from Amazon asking to verify the shipping address or they would cancel the order. Definitely a first for that.

Wait, you lost your preorder AND your gift card is tied to that lost order? How does that work??

Also, are you talking about Amazon UK?

Good thing I read this page. No switch for me, but I was going to change my payment for the Zelda SP edition

I actually applied gift card credit to my Zelda SE order on Amazon(a few days after I initially made the order) and kept the order just fine. Not guaranteeing it will work for you but my order is fine anyways.

Just realized I have to update my debit card information anyway because I just received a new one in the mail today.

How long does Wells Fargo give me to activate the new one (therefore voiding the old card)?

I tried looking this up on their website but to no avail.

Not very long at all. I received a new one in the mail randomly one time at my girlfriend's, but I didn't actually know until my card was blocked and inquired why. Turns out it was sitting in the mail over there waiting to be activated. It was probably around 2-4 business days, but possibly even less.

Yeah, Amazon UK but figure systems are same in US.

My gift card balance is 0 but the order total on my Switch order is £60. If I cancel my order I get my gift card balance back, but I properly lose my order.

I'll call them tomorrow, I'm really annoyed because this just doesn't make sense why my priority would changed. I ordered 07:00 on the dot.

What logical reason would there be to change their stance on it? Sounds like their system is screwed up and tried to treat it as a cancel/re-order behind the scenes. There must be some issue with their accounting system being unable to add funds to an existing order without cancelling and reordering.

I'm guessing this is why Best Buy's system can't either.

Are you in EU than? I've heard this and its baffled me because I add giftcards to my preorders all the time and change my payment method and have never had an order cancelled but i'm in US so maybe that makes a difference. I just applied a $10 giftcard to my Switch preorder and nothing happened, still there with release date delivery.

Amazon US doesn't do this. I changed my credit card and billing address for both my launch PS4 and PS4Pro (both came out right after a move) and received both on launch days.

Wait all this talk about preorders getting canceled by applying gift cards can't be right. I've done it all the time to preorders that were no longer available and nothing happened. Nothing was cancelled. Amazon US.

I've got a Walmart preorder with the same concern. Anyone with past Walmart preorder experience?

I was speaking with a Gamestop manager in a Northeastern US town and she said she couldn't reserve a Switch but the store hadn't met its allotment - they had 20 consoles unreserved - but they were revoked from inventory after they went unsold for two days. Not sure if that was corporate, Nintendo, if the stock went elsewhere, if parties involved wnanted to create the illusion of rarity, or if she was mistaken in her information. I have a feeling these will be available on launch day.

I was thinking about redeeming a gift card for the total amount of my Amazon order, I'm that paranoid.

Just go into a chat with an amazon rep and ask them to do it for you. In my experience, this is foolproof, and havent heard of any bad stories when going in this direction versus doing it yourself.

I've never heard of applying Amazon Gift Cards cancelling orders on Amazon's US branch until now, but it seems the people stating such are actually using Amazon UK?

I do know that changing information in general (not applying gift cards) has a chance to reset your shipping priority in the queue causing a delay. There's also been cases where Out-of-Stock items even have a chance of being cancelled if updated.

I changed the shipping address on my Switch preorder on Amazon US the other day since I passed it to another GAF member, but it wasn't cancelled outright or delayed. I did receive a call the next day though asking for address verification or it would actually be cancelled.

Amazon doesn't support Shoprunner. Basically, you'll get free two-day shipping at any online store that supports Shoprunner like Newegg and etc.

1, 2, Switch is a party game... or rather, a game clearly meant to be played in a social setting. The issue with it bring advertised as a party game is the fact that the mini-games shown so far aren't exactly the most friendly to an actual party setting. Games that rely on audio cues will be muffled out by your typical party setting with music unless you kill the mood to see one or two people acting like idiots. It'll be hilarious at first, but then you just move on to the next wacky game and so on. Easy Allies/Kyle Bosman said it best: It's going to be a game where Nintendo gets to be naughty without being overt with it. People are going to think dirty thoughts, laugh, and then just drop it.

You'll see 1, 2, Switch at first at a lot of gatherings and what-have-you due to the novelty, but I'll be absolutely amazed if it's a thing a year from now let alone six months. It's not a Wii Sports, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or Just Dance sort of phenomenon.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm not gonna buy this game. I just think that the minigames that look embarrassing to play would at least be better at parties than the totally mundane ones.

They get sent to other stores with higher demand is what I was told by a manager I talked to, he said the same thing about them being pulled.

uhh... What's this? i checked the Amazon page and its giving me this...

I guess you can snag a neon console for $500 if you are interested 0_0

Just a third party scalper, always check the seller on Amazon. At least they are only charging $3.99 for shipping.

Now THATS an interesting development in this ongoing discussion that I have never seen. How many people don't keep their phone numbers updated or might have multiple phone numbers on file or god knows how many other reasons might miss an unexpected phone call like that and had their orders cancelled.

Model: HACSKABAA

?

Yeah i have no clue about that. That link was posted a few days ago and I left it open, decided to refresh the page just for the hell of it and it says there is 1 new switch for $500. I have no clue what to make of this.

How considerate of them.

I want o upgrade my shipping speed, but those order edit stories are too scary. :(

Only $3.99. What a deal! Brb placing my order.

I also need to somehow preserve my Master Edition preorder when I change payment methods.

Why does this have to be so stressful?
Lol I want to upgrade that order too. But the thought of messing up the order is too much.

They kept telling me that it's like a layaway. She wasn't very knowledgeable about me getting a guaranteed console, but did mention, there's a limit to pre orders, and once they hit it, they won't do it anymore.

I'm just thinking, maybe I go first thing March 3rd, just in case. Camp out before I go to work. I hope she loves it.

A little bit of topic, I'm actually lazy to make a thread, but someone asked respawn about Titanfall on Switch and whoever the fuck answered said "fuck no" literally.

I'm having a great time with Titanfall on PS4, but now I'm glad it bombed hard and I got it on sale.
