AMAZON US Switch up

Hey guys, I mentioned it some pages back, but I was able to pre order the Switch at my Walmart. I confirmed with their management that my pre order guaranteed me a switch on Day 1.

I'd also like to thank those of you that offered to give me your pre orders, so I could get the Switch for my daughter's birthday. Now I just have to get her 1, 2, Switch and Arms. She talked about Zelda, but not sure she's ready for the complexity the series brings. But maybe that's great.

I have a 256GB micro SD card I got for free with my wife's S7 Edge purchase. I got a free Gear VR headset. We'll give my daughter the card to put in her Switch.

I hope Walmart doesn't give you any trouble come release. I've heard some pretty bad reports concerning the NES Classic and how the same or similarly functional program didn't actually guarantee anything despite sayings.

As for the games chosen, I don't think you can go wrong with those for a young child. I wouldn't have trouble recommending the earlier Zelda titles, but Breath of the Wild might just be a tad too overly complicated due to the changes they're making to the formula.

Hope I don't get that, only email I've received is an additional cash amount offer added to trade-ins of Nintendo products for having placed an online Switch order.

Same. Except mine was for an "additional $50 trade-in credit for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, or Playstation VR headset, on top of normal trade-in value. PowerUp Rewards Pro Members get more, and will receive $75 trade-in credit in addition to normal trade-in value!"

I've considered it. PS4 shows $125, so this would bring that up to $200 which is slightly less than I paid for it and I haven't really had the time to play it much. I bought one game so far and PS+, so I would be out the $ spent on those.

Still deciding. Also, if I did that, and put the $200 toward the Switch, were it to be cancelled would I still have $200 in credit? Or would the extra $75 vanish? I ordered the Neon console from them on 1/15/2017 so I'm worried about being cut if they run out.

It should just be an issue of how many amps the charger puts out. I think 1 amp is standard for cell phones, but 2.1 amps is standard for tablets. I'd think the Switch would be substantially similar to most tablets, so a 2.1 amp charger will hopefully work. You should also be able to use a 1 amp charger, it'll just charge slower.
Thanks, this is helpful but what about chargers with multiple slots? Is more amps required for additional slots, such as a simultaneous phone/Switch charge session?

I don't think the Amazon chat support is right. While it may be incorrectly listed under the Wii U category, I don't think Amazon would go out of their way to create two separate pages, both for the Wii U version.

Switch

Wii U

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KWF803C/?tag=neogaf0e-20

EDIT: Also, every single Switch game is listed as a Wii U title. 1, 2, Switch for example...

I think you're right and the whole situation was misinterpreted. Even the CS rep seemed confused, but if that listing were for the Wii U version then Amazon has two listings for Wii U and no listings for the Switch standard edition.

I'm just going to keep an eye on my order and see if anything changes before it ships, otherwise I fully expect it to arrive as the Switch version.

Amazon switched my Red/Blue Joy-Con order to a Blue/Blue :(

So what are the reactions to the Pro controller. Good? Bad?

I did hear that the dog controller is actually good

From what I have heard just putting together multiple impressions

- Joy-cons have vita like analog sticks while pro controller has full size analogs
- HD rumble is more pronounced/consistent with the pro controller
- Buttons are bigger and better on the pro, joy-con buttons are more mushy
- Both grip and pro controller are similar in comfort but the grip might feel too small/cramped together for some.

Please don't tell me that it was up and is now currently unavailable.

It was never up.

The way Amazon has put up preorders and taken them down and then back up, and then never put up Neon preorders, and how the product pages have changed and changed back or disappeared completely is really weird. Makes me lose confidence in the preorder I supposedly have locked in with them.

Yep. Ordered the red/blue the first day it was up.

This happened to me too last week but I eventually was able to place another preorder for the correct set that went up. So whatever we ordered at first turned out to be Blue/Blue when they changed those particular pages. I was pissed until the second batch went up for preorder.

I just can't buy the pro controller without trying puppy dog setup first. I have a feeling I'm going to be fine with the pup, and will grab the charging grip.

Those big ass buttons are sexy, though....

I was able to get two Joycons and a Charging Grip from Best Buy during their get $25 off $100 promo...

What do you guys think is more desirable? $85 for Joycons/Charging Grip or $70 Pro Controller?

Dunnow. People say the Joycons aren't as comfortable as the Pro Controller, and the Pro has more battery life, but the Joycons will be needed for multiplayer and good as spares.

When is it going to be available in the US...

I heard from several journalist on twitter that the joycon grip felt better than the pro so that's another impression

Nintendo's policy of "whatever goes" for PAL prices is biting them and resellers in the ass.

The system used to be sold for €330 (if not more) in a number of countries including Germany and France, with no signs of preorders selling out for any length of time.

Well, surprise surprise: prices are now steadily going down day after day. Amazon.fr is now listing the system at €315, and you can get a Switch + Zelda bundle for €360. Even that was €365 just yesterday.

Serves you right, idiots. Don't expect early adopters to be fooled into preordering the system at a premium when everyone knows we're getting shafted compared to Japan and the US. Yay for consumers.

I just hope Nintendo doesn't learn the wrong lesson from this ongoing situation regarding importing and the large availability of preorders in the more price-gouged locations.

Amazon switched my Red/Blue Joy-Con order to a Blue/Blue :(

I think you probably ordered the blue/blue set by mistake. Amazon had the wrong pictures up for a long time and you had to pay attention to the full product name to get the right combination. Check your initial email confirmation to make sure, I suspect it will show the picture of Red/Blue but the name says Blue/Blue. Now they just fixed the picture which made you notice that you ordered the wrong one.

I'm holding out to see how the d-buttons on the JoyCons work to decide if I'll need a Pro for the d-pad.

I'm totally in favor of the return of clear plastic though, both on the Pro Controller and the Charging Grip. I'd love to be able to get some clear blue JoyCons.

Tried both of the walmarts in my area and neither do lay-away except at christmas time so I wasn't able to do a preorder. Just going to have to try my luck on launch day unless Amazon ever gets around to posting the neon color switch.

Probably this. I ordered the blue/blue and I think they first had the mixed color photo, then no photo, and now they have the blue/blue photo.

Well, the d-pad of the JoyCons isn't really a D-pad, so they'll probably be pretty mediocre.

Have my Amazon preorder and will probably just stick with it.

That being said my brain keeps asking do you really need this thing at launch considering the only game you care about with an actual release date is Zelda and you own a Wii U?

I'm not really interested in paying for Kart again and I'm iffy how much I'd play arms. Spalt 2 is just "Summer" and Street Fighter is not dated yet.

Maybe if I knew if all my virtual console shit would transfer over, and what other indie titles will hit in March that might help.

Idk idk... Wife just says to keep it.

Listen to your wife. For everything.
