Amazon's Top 10 Of The Year

Hmmm... I kind of think the list is lame. Twilight Princess does not deserve to be that high and might not even belong on the list. If it is on there, Metroid Prime 3 should be somewhere close by.

Rock Band? You can't honestly put Rock Band on the list without having GH3 somewhere close behind it. I can have just as much fun on GH3 as I can playing Rock Band, even without the drums.

And I'm not arguing that The Orange Box is not an amazing package, but it has no business being put in a game of the year list when only one short piece of the package is actually new. Give me a break. IT'S NOT NEW! If you want to put Portal on the list by its own merits, fine. But I don't think by itself it desrves to be there.

And maybe I'll be the first to complain, but Halo3 should be higher than 10. I'm not saying it's number one, but definitely a top 5 finisher.

I think this list is way faulty.

You're bitching about Orange Box being high up (because it's the same thing!), yet you think Halo 3 should be higher?

Twilight Princess isn't on that list.
Rock Band is a better game than Guitar Hero 3.
Metroid Prime 3 deserves to be on there.
Episode 2, Portal, TF2 are all NEW.
Halo 3 should NOT be higher by any means.

The great thing about the Amazon list is the fact that the choices are obvious. Most other gaming sites will pick certain games only to show off how "cool" they are.

Mass appeal FTW.

Very true. I think their order is pretty spot-on as well, though.
 
Thanks OP for the laugh.

In ten years time, I think we will look back wistfully at 2007 and wish that all gaming years could be this good. This year is shaping up to be the all time greatest.

The fact that he so blatantly left out all Sony games on the list and replaced them with NA as if Sony can't produce good games is kinda funny.

I haven't played Crysis, Rock Band, R&C, or Zelda, but I'd put all the rest above Prime 3. Don't get me wrong, it was a great game, but this has been a year chock full of excellent games and I don't see anything wrong with picking any of those over MP3.

LOL! THanks for correcting me on Twilight Princess. I'm kind of stupid sometimes.

It's not that I don't agree with most of the games, just some of the order and lack of the lack there of.

I didn't say Rock Band was worse than GH3. I just think that GH3 is right behind it. So you can't really have one without the other. If Rock Band is number five, GH3 should be somewhere between 6 and 10. And it isn't. GH3 is having the same impact on gamers as far as popularity and fun as Rock Band.

And this is totally my opinion, but I think Halo3 is better than the Orange Box. I just don't see how anyone can call episode two and portal better than Halo3. Like I said before, I won't include the ports of older games in a "games of the year" list. So the rest of what is included shouldn't count.

Team Fortress 2, a new game, is new, and counts.
 
For a top 10 list this is surprisingly awesome. With having so many universally acclaimed games this year, all the questionable that may not have been top 10 material ended up off of the list.
 
Seems like a pretty reasonable list to me. I'd switch Bioshock and Orange Box, and will probably end up preferring Uncharted over Ratchet. I haven't played Rock Band, God of War 2 or COD4, but they all seem like high quality games.
 
I think Uncharted deserves a place on the list but besides that it's all good. I'm really surprised we don't have more people bitching about Halo 3's no.10 spot though.
 
Pretty decent list, I think SMG will go down as GOTY this year, with the Orange Box getting an honourable mention as the best value set of pure awesome ever released.

Also, OP, stealth trolling is an artform, that was a travesty, hilarious though :lol :lol
