Let's just hope it's true and the results are decent. Although like I said some time before, I'm surprised the devs dropped using CBR once next-gen started after all those years with Pro/1X and are opting more for DRS nowadays, it's like we've gone backwards to PS4/1X launch, dunno what happened there, just keep using 1440/1620/1800p + CBR and everyone is happy, no need to reinvent the wheel.

Doesn't they preparing something different than current FidelityCAS upscale+sharpen?

Let's hope they'll cook something good up. Without any dedicated HW, don't know if we can expect a lot.
I'm judging their current solution, which isn't anything to write home about.

Honestly any solutuon different from simple upscale+sharpen will be better than nothing. Maybe some kind of temporal upscale on SDK level (and universal) will greatly help consoles.

Nice, but is this really that critical? I mean what sort of savant outside of Buttuglia would you need to be to tell the difference between a quality checkerboard solution to something like this......at tv viewing distances.

No, don’t lie!

No, don’t lie!

Critical if you don't want to get stuck with ray tracing at 1080p and 30 fps. And I'm not talking about XSS.

Yes, I’m a strong proponent of reconstruction. But the brand based fervour about certain solutions is reaching mass hysteria almost. Reconstruction has been a reality since last gen, there are options already, some better than others. It’s splitting hairs.

It'll take a good few years for this tech (or any tech for that matter) to match DLSS 2.0.

In the meantime, I wonder how good can they make it. Insomniac's Temporal Injection technique is already superb. I don't see AMD's solution to be a significant improvement over that.

Nobody knows how good it is or isn't. Could be better then DLSS 3.0 or even 4.0, could be absolute dog shit.

Its funny they choose linus for this reveal, guess shilling for AMD worked out well for him.

checkboard rendering is not trained, is a case by case situation with a range from good to horrible implementations (depends on the quality of the developer, the time available, the budget) the most obvious thing to make it an inferior solution over time is precisely that over time this solution, as opposed to ML-based solutions that improve over time, will not guarantee consistency in the result. In addition to being inferior in terms of quality, at least comparing it to solutions such as DLSS. In terms of performance, I do not know which one is more "performing"

You missed the first wave of DLSS games. It was far from superior. Of course it is improved after invested so many years and money . Could happen the same for CBR or whatever AMD working on giving them the right time and tech.

I know exactly why you are starting to guess against an ML-based solution lol and praising the CBR. But CBR is not based on ML it is what it is and as death stranding on pc demonstrated (using among other things the best version of CBR) this solution is very inferior to a solution based on ML as DLSS
(I think there was a Digital Foundry video about it)

Mostly of games use CBR genius. And say the guy who already built the throne to the ML stuff because holy mother MS is fully involved on it, when the only things showed until now just run on Nvidia GPU, not on Xbox . And it's not like ML is a MS exclusive neither. Let's see how much will cost and works on series X and we come back to discuss about it of his indisputable superiority.

the thing is, this is your own war i don't care what most games use today, i stated that a ML solution ala DLSS is demosrarted superior I was speaking in general. Period. If you want I can go ahead and explain to the "paying public of the usual show" the reason for your answer. It's easy to know, Xbox has announced hardware support for machine learning and knowing it might have an edge over the PS5 literally makes your legs shake. Hence the concerns about implementation and everything in between. Simple and straightforward.

I'd like to be optimistic but my gut tells me this wont come close to the quality and clarity provided by DLSS.

Nvidia are miles ahead in AI and deep learning so that gives them a huge leg up in this area. A bunch of post processing and upscaling filters is not an alternative.

Happy to eat crow if I'm wrong.

It's you who are obsessed to war dude CBR it's not all playstation stuff. Anyway we haven't see a shit run on series X about ML and already you think it will be superior blablabla because whatever MS tell to you it's the holy bible. Prepare to have a rude awakening because ML is not an infinite resource and if they use it they have to sacrifice other graphic stuff. I call it

Maybe I'm wrong but AMD's Fidelity isn't the same as DLSS. One functions as an amazing scaling technique, the other is a sharpening filter.
Its not out. So on what basis you are saying that its sharpening filter? Seriously you people have brains or no? Just post whatever without thinking or waiting to see how it will work when its out.

Bunch of arm chair expects here lol

I didn't say a word about xbox you doing it. i explained why CBR is inferior to a ML solution in the long term and you (and you can see the usual fanboys doing the same) instead to be happy that we may finally have something like DLSS from amd you are worried, very worried it will not go well.. It is clear why you do this. and I explained why

Series Console hardware supports Direct ML method which will be unlocked for developers in April/May
I'm not talking about what consoles support or not.

I'm just saying that new features, in general, are not only a math thing. You need hardware to do that math properly, so if you dont have it, you cant copy that technique.

You didn't explained anything. We perfectly know why you call ML solution for the cause and look, you already wave your dick about the superior performance on series X in some post above. And where I said I'm worried about it? o_O I just said it's stupid name superior or inferior tech stuff and ML will come at a cost. The usual fanboy he said.

Literally the first slide...

Don't mind to be honest as long as it's well seasoned. Considering how long AMD are taking over this I don't think that will be a problem.
I don't expect AMD techniques to be amazing day one its out but after testing and based on feedback from devs and users they can make it good. MS is working with them on this if im not wrong?.

I call ML solution best because DLSS sent any other kind of solution to bed including the excellent death stranding CBR.

I know you suffer from Xbox ml hw acceleration but this is your problem. The thread is talking about something else.

People smarter than people who browse Gaf working at MS. So im sure they will figure out what needs to be done to implement it properly. We have no clue how its work. They also can see how and what Nvidia doing with DLSS.

I suspect this is a collaboration using azure for the ML?

AMD are behind but not sure how far behind.. DLSS 1 was basically scrapped and DLSS 2 is a different beast without the pre-learning. The industry needs a open standard for this and I expect the DX alternative to reach DLSS 2.0 standards but it will be interesting to see how fast this runs on cards without the specialised ML(tensor) cores. MS has spoke about adding extra ML stuff in to Xbox but take that will a pinch of salt until we see some demos of the tech on console.

If AMD actually had something comparable to Nvidia`s DLSS, even if it only worked on a single GPU line, we`d have seen it by now, and that`s really all there is to say.

Shit is running on 2080Ti, that's like somewhere else, especially with TOPS.
Come on I don't even want to think that in the demo they were using tensor cores. It would be ridiculous. lol. If it were running on a 2080ti it would be interesting to know how it would run on an amd gpu

They should stop mentioning it if they wont show comparisons.
They need to give ammo to people like you know who on this board so they can continue advising people to buy inferior products because they will be great one day :)

Greatness usually arrives when product is obsolete and performs like low tier gpus of next generations.
