AMD FidelityFX is available for Xbox

I love these threads because the ponies come in here and try to explain away like none of this matters as if it were their job.

I can say to you that non of this matter from PC player perspective. Nothing changes, devs can implement such things or not, they could use sharpening in their games before AMD invented CAS...

Is this the "Super Resolution" or just sharpening?

Edit: Oh well at least de-noiser could be worth a fuck otherwise not much.

It's been there since like day one on Xbox Series X. We expected the complete package has been released:

Only sharpening filter, denoiser, and VRS.

the downplay start?

Huge news. DLSS is a god send on PC. Arguably consoles need AI upscaling more so this is great!

don't worry sony fanboys, downplay it all you want and when it comes to PS5 you can start saying how good it is.

You've been killing yourself for months trying to downplay everything xbox. It will be a long and disappointing generation for you)))
You think AMD sharpening filter is exclusive to Xbox... Oh no.

It's not DLSS in any way, shape or form.

AMD FidelityFX – Variable Shading

AMD FidelityFX – Denoiser

AMD FidelityFX – Contrast Adaptive Sharpening

Yes because it was at a MS event, not AMD's own event....
But if you go to the list of developers who are working with fidelityfx there is not even a Sony first party developer if not Guerrilla and I think they are there just because they develop Horizon on pc.

It's just sharpening on TAA... Foliage still shimmers, edges still crwal. AMD still got nothing on dlss stability and performance

Nvidia has actually included specialised hardware in their chips that perform these tasks AMD really doesn't have any of that. So no the Xbox and PS5 will not get anything like that.

So these are available now for Xbox toolkits, I wonder if we'll see any kind of implementation for 2021 releases and if the gap between Series X and PS5 will widen further as a result.

How is this available for PC ? i am confused. isn't this what is supposed to be DLSS like from the AMD side ? or am i mistaken with the name ?

Sadly it's the same case with just sharpening, but it's fake anyway. It's no magic, anyone dealt with photography knows it:

Doesn't necessarily count as true to the real image, especially if you want that fade/DoF effect it can fuck it up when done automatically/AI.
this mans stare into space , is akin to a future seeing mystic , on top of a resolution mountain , gazing into the beauty, of true 12k.

brings a tear , i must find this man...

So, you incorporate a new set of tools, on top of your existing tools........ sounds like the definition of an upgrade to me smh

Upgrade means improvement and there's no basis to support the idea that these tools would be an improvement over the ones available on other SDKs.

Why no PS5
Sounds like PS5 developers can use them, they probably just aren't integrated into Sony's development kits, maybe they have better alternatives or maybe they are in the process of adding them, it's up to Sony.
This just sounds like MS making it a bit easier, (whether that's down to being impressed or some AMD marketing deal who knows) to access them and possibly optimizing them to work better with their hardware.

The only reasoning behind all this I can think of is easier development/assuring the tech is used in as many titles as possible, rather than being exception every now and then, like the Oodle compression is starting to be more and more utilized on PS5 since it's included in every devkit, otherwise not many devs would bother.

At this point those guys should've realized that XSX output higher resolution than PS5.

In some games yes, in some games PS5 has higher res. It's to early to conclude wich console is stronger I think. One thing for sure, there were never 2 consoles that close in power.

DX12 ultimate

What it has to do with anything? Any dx11 hardware supports FidFX from AMD, both AMD and Nvidia (and Intel probably too).
