Probably had to do with all those "April the Giraffe" searches.Everything sort of made sense and then I saw Giraffe was one of the words. I need to know why that word is used so much it's the most misspelled word for a state.
I'll admit I'm a terrible speller and my wife (who's first language isn't English) puts me on the spot for the correct spelling of a word if she's having trouble. Make me feel pretty stupid.
I have trouble with beautiful. Even now I tried to spell it and I missed the "a".
But "Angel" "Liar" and "Grey"? I'm not that bad.
We eat a lot of sauerkraut here, I have no idea why we misspell it so much.

there are two different ways you can spell gray/grey, and both are valid.

Yeah, I'd assume it's something simple like that. The chart is not really about most misspelled words. It's about "words whose spelling people are the most unsure of (to the extend that they'll google it)".100% certain the most common error is using "lead" and not "led" as the past tense of "lead."
I can confirm that License has been a screw-up word for me for a while. I don't know why.
Tennessee should know better.

They are using internet searches on how to spell these words as a qualifier
I'd argue these words would be spelt correctly based on those searches and not a true indicator of incorrect spelling
Tennessee should know better.
