Lol, it's like Peter Parker's version of Edward Cullen
Ouch. And kinda accurate.

The cast assembled for this is very good though, so there is some hope. When is there going to be a teaser or anything? Or pics of the Spider Man costume itself?

Probably some kind of teaser at Comic Con, then maybe a trailer around November.

I really have no faith in Marc Webb at all. I only like this based on casting. The cast of this obliterates the Raimi films (except for villains, you can't fuck with Dafoe or the guy from Frida)

The Lizard and someone else they're not saying.

Rhys Ifans could be really great with this role. He narrated Exit Through the Gift Shop and was in Deathly Hallows Part 1. Really great actor, he's one of the things I'm definitely excited about for Spider-man.

I read many places it is the Lizard as well. Ifans is awesome, and the Spidey movies have always been good in their villain casting.

It is a shame they never got to use Dylan Baker for that like they were setting him up for with the first films.

"Hey Dylan, wanna play The Lizard in my new Spider-Man movie?"

dylan_baker01.jpg

"Hell yeah! So you want me to get in shape or anything?"

samraimi.jpg

"Nah. For this first movie, you're going to play Peter Parker's professor which will setup your turn for the future."

dylan_baker01.jpg

"....alright, no problem!"

2 years later

samraimi.jpg

"Hey Dylan, guess what? We're making Spider-Man 2! Get ready!"

dylan_baker01.jpg

"Fuck yeah!! I'm all set, I've had a personal trainer booked for months!"

samraimi.jpg

"...uh, I'm really sorry dude. I told Sony I really wanted you to play the villain, but they wanted a bigger villain. But you are in the movie again! This will just strengthen your character even more for your villainous turn!"

dylan_baker01.jpg

"I completely understand, man. Damn studios, am I right?!"

2 years later

samraimi.jpg

"Dylan my man! We're coming back for Spider-Man 3! Everyone is signed on, we're ready to go!"

dylan_baker01.jpg

"....I'm not The Lizard, am I?"

samraimi.jpg

"You know how it is, the studio! They wanted something bigger, I had no control over this! I promise you, I PROMISE you that next time it will be you and you alone!"

2 years later

dylan_baker01.jpg

"Alright let's do this!"

"I quit yesterday"

"I fucking hate you."

Cera was fucking awful in that movie and I'm pretty sure that the film would have been a lot more enjoyable with someone else on the role.

Agreed 100x. Nothing against Cera, but he was so woefully miscast in that role it killed the movie for me. Would have actually been one of my favorites with anyone else.

I feel the same here. I like Garfield in other roles, but this is no Parker. if I can't buy into the protagonist, I can't get invested in the film.

Irrfan Khan was cast as the villain Van Atter. What's not clear is if it'll be like the comics where Atter was an Oscorp employee and an early test subject of Norman's serum who becomes Proto-Goblin.

First still there does remind me of Parker. Not so much the others. I cant really place my finger on what it is exactly that is putting off about it. But the first one there the hair does look a lil more under control.

Could be good.

Happy they're not pursuing the classic look for Parker. Raimi's Spidey had it and I thought they were pretty bad so visual accuracy means nothing.

Also, I really hated the fact that Raimi's vision of Spider-Man was a soap opera. His own words. Blargh.

Speaking of villain, who's the villain in this one? Surely not the Green Goblin again?

I wants a better venom :D

I don't want to see green goblin and doc ock anytime soon. I think they were done well previously

Maguire was a great Spidey (he may not have been the comic Spidey, but for the character that was written in the script, he was fucking perfect), but I'm interested to see Garfield's take on the character. Emma Stone looks great as Gwen. Any word on Harry Osbourne being there or not?

Not yet but apparently that meathead, what's his name, the jock/bully who eventually turned into Parker's best friend is there.

His hair is making his head look too small. Kinda creepy lookin

You can't get better than Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

Actually you can, Bruce as Spiderman.

Oh god, imagine how amazing Evil Dead Bruce would be in a Spiderman flick :o

The hair is a bit puffy in a "how does that fit in the mask" way, but whatever. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

fingerless gloves are a nice touch considering he might need to grip/climb stuff...you know, because he's spider-man.

and I like that he looks poor-ish. fuck getting a car to impress some chick from next door; this spider-man looks financially strung out.

He is looking talllllllll. Just imagine when they bring in Venom.
Can't possibly fuck venom up as bad as they did in Spiderman 3.

I mean, as far as completely obliterating and shamefully reinterpreting source material goes, I can't think of anything worse than Spidey 3 Venom.

I think Garfield looks great

I'm more concerned with why exactly did they go with Marc Webb for directing? I mean, he's only done 500 days of summer right? Pretty good film sure but just figured there was something else to him for getting picked for such a high profile gig.

You must have missed Devastator in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

how does his superhero costume work?

thin gloves? I don't know how they're explaining the powers this time, but if it's like the first set of movies, he has things that comes out of his finger tips. Gloves like that are pretty thick and he'd be screwed if he was attacked by, I dunno, the green goblin after he tracked peter to catch him at his most vulnerable.

He's directed major music videos for 12 years. It's not like he's some kid fresh out of filmschool who has only directed one thing.

His hair looks fine.

Its the fingerless gloves, skinny jeans and boots that are making me :lol

This.

The boots and pants are killing me. Peter is a geek. Not just a normal one either; he is into physics and math.

He looks good, but a little too 'hipster'.
It's the jeans! Up top he's fine but why not just put him in regular jeans instead of those skinny things?
Those shoes are horrendous too.

When I'm watching it I prob won't give a fuck though, just being nit picky, and Gwen looks hot (but not as hot as Gwen from Spider-Man 3).

Hmm, I'm not really convinced when I see these stills. It's just not Peter Parker if you ask me. Also, am I the only one who finds it laughable that the Spidey franchise is getting a reboot so quickly already?

Spider-Man 3 was so awful I don't think I could watch another Spider-Man film with that cast and forget the horrors.

A re-boot was the humane thing to do.

But mocking for all the wrong reasons.

What wrong reasons? His hair is unattended for? He wears skinny jeans? He wears two different colors of shoe laces?

These critics are only based on appearances, without a hint of his personality or actual dialogue. So yes, most people here are just judging Parker's appearance without any context to his actual character in the movie.
