And HTC Desire is a modified version of Nexus One, pretty sure he was talking about this exact model and not another variant.
 
Is the current best Android phone on Sprint still the Hero? I'm finally within a month of when I'll be getting new phones for my wife and I and switching from AT&T to Sprint.

Currently? Yes, but it won't be when the Evo murderizes it come this June
 
My Desire just arrived. It is very, very awesome, my first smartphone too. One question though, how do I get to this list that displays what needs how much % of the battery at the moment? I only got there because I got the "battery is low" pop-up but I can't find it anywhere in the menu.

Yup. Evo in June-ish, and N1 hopefully before then, but no one knows. PEACE.

The Nexus One should release on Sprint within the next month. Also, I wouldn't really want to try and call it either way between the Moment and the Hero, currently. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

On the home screen, press Menu. Go to Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery use.

Or Menu > Add to home > HTC Widget > Battery to get a percentage on the home screen

It's debatable, the Moment is faster but doesn't have Sense, and it's by Samsung, which is win or lose. But it is faster and has a AMOLED screen, I believe. So it's a nice pick, too.

The Nexus One is in the pipeline for Sprint, but no one really knows when...it's been in the pipeline for Verizon since forever.

The Hero is an awesome phone, but it can be a little slow here and there. Play with them in the store and see what you like better.

Actually I'm pretty sure HTC would say internally the N1 is also a modified Desire :)

But I doubt this exact model will come out anywhere else, VZW + HTC do love their exclusive takes on hardware.
 
Seems like the N1 will hit Sprint soon enough. It's odd, I just realized that the N1 will have bundles available for all the major US carriers except AT&T. Though that should be no surprise. :lol

Have they given any indication as to how much it will cost? I believe now if you get the Hero through Best Buy it's only $99.

Also, Evo does look awesome. I'm assuming that'll be $250-300 with a 2 year contract?

Don't forget about the HTC Legend and Samsung Moment 2 which should be looming before the Evo as well.

Samsung Moment 2? Haven't heard of it. And while the Legend is rumored for Sprint, there's nothing really concrete.
 
So here's a question/s for those that are a little bit more in the know...

I currently subscribe to Verizon (with a 20% discount through my work, so the price isn't too bad.) I'm thinking about jumping from my BB Storm to the HTC Incredible once that's out.

Here's my conundrum. With all the talk about the EVO and 4G network on the horizon, should I make the switch to Sprint? (I wouldn't get a discount there) I currently live in suburbia hell, so I'm not even sure if 4G saturation would be out my way for a while. Or should I ride it out with Verizon instead, since I get good 3G reception in my area, and wait until my next upgrade so that 4G will have had ample time to grow and become the new standard.

So has anyone bought the Legend yet? I've been looking to upgrade my Touch Diamond and it looks almost perfect. I've go no interest in the Desire/N1 as they are too big and not exactly things of beauty.

180 to 200, probably. They said they were looking at T-Mobile's pricing as the model so that's a good bet. The Evo will be expensive, yeah. And 4G service will (I imagine) cost quite a bit too, if you're looking at it for that.

:lol I was being sarcastic, Pantech is a Korean fab known for low spec phones. They made the Helio Ocean, which was decent at the time, but most thier other phones not from Korea are pretty lame.

That's what I'm wondering about. Not just that the EVO is going to cost more (I'm expecting that,) but I'm sure Sprint is going charge a higher premium for 4G service.

Sprint needs this phone to be a success. If it flops they're in huge trouble and I think they've learned by now that 200 is pretty much the ceiling for cellphones in the present market. Anything over that would be a serious mistake. Whether they charge more for 4G is another matter, but I doubt the boost (if any) will be as much as some people might fear. Their unlimited base rates are lower than AT&T and Verizon, so a modest bump probably wouldn't hurt much. That being said, I hope their keep their current pricing in tact.
 
It saddens me that I was an early adopter (Launch G1) and I have to wait to upgrade my phone. Thinking about getting the MyTouch Slide when it comes out... I'm not eligible for a full discount for another 5 months though, so maybe something better will come out by then (for T-mobile).
 
So Htc incredible wont come out in Europe heh? well im tempting on the Desire, but with all those phones coming out, im not sure if i should wait. If HTC Legend was cheaper i would buy it asap. Its the most sexiest of the current phones.....but desire specs are much better and the price difference isnt that big. Also does incredible have 512 meg RAm or is the same as Desire, 576?

currently the word is that the unlimited plans include unlimited 4g as well. But if you want to use the phone as a wi-fi hotspot to tether other devices, then there's an additional fee.

In your situation I'd stick with verizon and the incredible though. chances are slim to none you'll be seeing 4g outside of a major metro area anytime soon.

edit: that hdmi out is freaking sweet though :lol

Yeah. I'm leaning toward just staying with Verizon cuz' of the discount and my service (phone wise) has always been good. And I think by the time I upgrade again, Verizon will have 4G standard on their networks.

Honestly, $150 would be perfect, but $180 I guess I'd be thinking about it for sure. If I'm going to be stuck with a phone for 2 years I want it to be a good one. I'm not too concerned with the 4G service right now, as Columbus, OH wasn't on their rollout list last I checked. I'm sure it'll be added in the next year or so but as of now we don't have it.

Whoever mentioned Sprint raising their prices, I hope not, or that I at least get in before they do so. Their prices being so low is the only reason I'm leaving AT&T for them. I have great service with AT&T (non iPhone user ftw) so I'm only worried that my service won't be as good outside of the city with Sprint, but am willing to put up with that because of the difference in price.

Nope. Texts are special data packets.:lol

My plan is to use google voice's email to SMS and never pay for texts again.
 
So tempted to jump on the pre-order for the Incredible. However I'm a little reluctant pre-ordering something I haven't even held in my hand. Hopefully they won't be short of stock on the 29th in stores.

SMS are being PUSHED to the Voice App on Android, so you don't have to do the e-mail thing.
