Thats probably the first step to accessing the bootloader on the G2. If you're interested in rooting, you should head over to the xda forums. The G2 is supposed to be rather tricky,

is that stock with the g2 (or android phones in general?) it seems out of place and really dangerous to randomly run across.

Pretty common for HTC phones. For the N1, you hold the power, volume down and the trackball. If you release it when the screen goes blank, it should just reboot.

My N1 is dying a slow death. F U htc, not one of your phones has lasted me a full year, I don't know why I keep buying them. Anyway, il be in the market for a new android phone, and I'm glad there should be some cool phones soon. I think the decision will be the Nexus S or the ps phone, if either is at&t.

!

XDA:

UPDATE: 11/25/10 13:20 PST: According to our source we have a Confirmed Dual Core Orion 1GHz CortexA9 running inside the Nexus S, we Can’t verify this ourself and are waiting for further verification. Stand by for more pics/specs this afternoon.

I would too if there was a t-mobile here. I only got like 6 more months on my contract anyway, but other than Sprint, I don't have a choice. Hopefully this follows the N1 model and branches out to AT&T, but this time much more quickly.

I live in an hspa+ market and I never realized how cheap t mobile was. Even more plus and I'll sell my n1

Does anyone here have a Dell Streak? It seems interesting and I might be able to get one with a trade for my laptop.

Do you guys recommend the streak? Currently on an Iphone 4.

Just recently got the Mytouch 4g. Really liking it. I went from and Eris to Incredible and now the 4g. Miss the Amoled screen but the wifi calling, video chat and hotspot make up for it. I would like to have made a thread specifically for this phone but my thread making privileges are banned. I would appreciate it if someone could do that for me.

yes, I own a Dell Streak

How do you like it?

It's a interesting device, for sure. Since it's been updated to 2.2, it's a lot faster, call quality is tons better, and it comes in 3 different colors. The best thing about it is it's versatility, it's an excellent web browser, and games look fine on them as well. Camera quality is average during the day, but worse at night. Battery life is fantastic, (1530 mAh battery), and runs all market apps.

But keep in mind that it is a large (not as big as the Galaxy Tab) and heavy device, so if you need something smaller you should look at the Desire HD. If you can accept the size, which you should, since it's a tabletphone, you'll be happy with it.

Edit: I own a Iphone 4 as well, and they're two different devices. What are you looking for exactly? In terms of games, camera, and portability, the ip4 has it beat. But with speed and battery life, they're about neck and neck. Plus, the Streak is an excellent web browser.

Just looking for something different. Im trading my laptop and someone offered me a different laptop plus a brand new streak for it.

It just seemed like a pretty different type of cell phone. Im probably gonna take him up on the deal, cause if I dont like the streak, I could just sell it. They seem to be going for like 400ish on ebay.

It's definitely different, and also an acquired taste. I use I constantly, because it feels so natural in my hands. Give it some time when you first get it.

I saw Verizon has an ad hyping their 4G service coming in December. Do they have any phones coming out for it by then?

I heard the Incredible HD was coming but maybe in March?

I think the word is 4G mifi type devices for now, no actual phones until Q1 2011.

So this is a bit off topic, but I was about to "redeem" digital copies of my many blu-rays to load up onto my Galaxy S I just picked up. However upon reading part of the WB End-User Liscense Agreement I'm worried that doing so is going to install some kind of hidden bullshit on my system:

Can anyone shed some light on this? This particular digital copy is The Dark Knight, if that matters any.

Edit: Also, do these "battery boosting" apps or whatever actually work? If so which is the best one?

Hey question.. I might be able to get an untouched/non activated T-Mobile G1 phone from my brother.

I was wondering if it's possible to hack the thing so that I can make calls (maybe receive, too?) via Google Voice and WiFi only with no phone service?

I currently do not own a mobile phone so I'd like to use it for a mobile media device/handy Android thing and it would be awesome if I could make calls via WiFi too.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Hmm, not really sure. But Google Voice is not a VOIP service, you still use your cell minutes when you make calls.

Maybe you'd be able to use Skype though?

someone on here did it, and i think there are guides online on how to do it. Its not straightforward, but it can be done

All I remember from the walkthrough to use Google Voice as VOIP service is you need to use Fring and have a SIP account set up with your GV number. It was very not straightforward like said above; I think Gizmodo posted an article with a walkthrough.

It certainly scrolls through lists like nobody's business...

Well, the PS3's UI is pretty much one giant list in "cross" form (Up, down, left, right). So it has to keep up with big brother.

i'm surprised its not bigger/bulkier

I hope that's NOT what she said.

Whoa, whoa, whoa - let's not get fancy with the lateral scrolling.

You asked for it and they listened. Rovio Mobile annouced this morning that their best-selling game, Angry Birds, now also has a special-edition called “Seasons” that was released to the Android Market this morning! This special edition named “Angry Birds Seasons” is a separate download from the original Angry Birds edition. Season’s Greetings includes 25 daily surprises for Angry Birds fan to enjoy on their way to counting down till Christmas. This edition also includes the 45 Halloween-themed levels in a separate episode called “Trick or Treat”. We’ve included links to download it from the Market above.

Secondly, Rovio did confirm that they are working on a payment option for gamers to pay and opt-out of the advertisement in the game. The new Angry Birds Seasons edition also includes advertisement throughout the game. No word as to when this would be available.

I love Angry Birds. The only game I play on my Nexus.

Dang. I was going to wait for a Verizon LTE device, but that price is making me think twice. Also, Gizmodo (yeah, I don't really like reading them either) just posted an article that makes a good point: the advatages of 4G are going to be minimal while there could be some real drawbacks.

I would definitely do it, however, if Verizon says you can split your 5 GBs however you want between multiple devices (phone, tablet, USB dongle).

I'd love a LTE version of the Notion Ink, if it ever comes out.

The pricing is for USB modems only. Please stop thinking it is for actual phones. We won't know that pricing until CES at the earliest.

The LTE price is actually cheaper than their current 3G USB modem plans.

Aren't the 3G USB dongle plans unlimited, though?

Hey guys, just got my Droid X in the mail. When I sign in, is there an option NOT to download all my old apps and settings? I want to start kind of fresh on this one, as I had quite a few apps on my old Droid.
