yeah and everyone seems to forget Jolla mobile's up coming meego based phone that should be something really differend. True multitasking is said to be theirs biggest selling point. Can't wait to see what they have to offer. N9 is really amazing phone. Shame nokia decited to dumb meego.

I wasn't trying to say the phone with be WP8 device. I've read rumors of a 1080p phone from HTC coming soonish, though.

jumping fucking jesus fucking budda fucking moses fucking vishu

Posted this in another thread, but apt here:

I mean, I have nothing invested in any of these phones either way. I just want to figure out which one would give me the most enjoyment.

The Lumia seems nice because of it's innovations, but I have no idea if I'd really use it's camera as much as it deserves, because my current phone doesn't even take photos or what not. The GS3 seems nice, but I don't know if the touchwiz and lack of Jellybean is all that appealing. The iPhone looks nice, but I have no idea if I'm really going to even game all that much.

It's kind of hard to decide. I mean, I bet a lot of you went from dumb phones to the iPhone, or an early Android phone, right? It's not that easy to decide when you don't know what you'll do with the thing.

With those parameters just get beeper.

The touchwiz hate is overblown. Jellybean is coming, and even without it the phone is super capable.

I'd say go with the Lumia, it really seems the best out of the three right now. WP8 should be a super capable OS.

What do you have, Copernicus?

Nexus S at the moment. Thinking about a WP8 phone if TMO gets anything decent. Otherwise it'll be another android phone.

Also looking at an N9 with meego (but I wouldn't recommend that, I'm just super in love with it)

Is L920 At&T only? I was hoping to go with Verizon perhaps. It seems to be the one that fucks the customers over the least from what I can tell.

So far. And T-Mo would be the carrier that fucks you over the least. Verizon does it w/o lube

I think if you're not tied into the Apple ecosystem via their apps, then the Lumia 920 would be a good choice. Ultimately, all three mobile telephones will be great so if you're unsure, see if you can perhaps check them out/test them in the shops first (i.e. size, weight, feel etc).

It definitely will.

Awesome, thanks chap.

Hmm, maybe I'll look into T-Mobile and Lumia then.

One of the things backing up my decision is whatever laptop or PC I decide to get. I bought a Macbook Air a couple weeks ago, long story short, it and its replacement were both defective, and I just opted to get my money back. Now I'm trying to decide if I should go with another Air (this time from the Apple store instead of Best Buy), a PC Windows laptop, or a desktop. So whatever I pick, I think will have a big factor on what phone I get, as I'll be tied into one of those ecosystems.

I really want to get an iphone 5 but T-Mobile doesn't sell it and wants customers to get them somewhere else for $650 unlocked, and I currently have an Windows phone I'm not too fond of it because the app store isnt that great and the prices arent too great either. the app store is more appealing to me, so i would get an iPhone over this anyway.

I've got a cyan Lumia 900. It is so sexy and quick for a single core phone. The WP software is really good. My good friend has a Galaxy S III, also a fantastic phone. The customization of Android is always impressive. iOS is everywhere, and based on the (it just works) functionality and ecosystem, is also amazing. I think the Lumia 920 is one of the best looking phones to release this year. I just know that it is not going to be easy for Microsoft to get others onboard.

whats wrong with a 1080p phone?

Such high DPI is so incredibly, utterly pointless, yet it requires a massive GPU to render such high resolutions smoothly, meaning terrible battery life and horrible performance unless you choose to run something at lower than native resolution. And then if you do that, run stuff at lower resolution, it'll look a shitload worse than if you simply had a lower-resolution phone like 720p and ran that at native resolution.

if it has the new S4 Pro as rumored, it'll have an Adreno 320, which should be more than enough to handle the resolution and still be very power efficient.

I dont get the hype for Jelly Bean. Im using it right now and I cant see any noticable speed bump or improvements over ICS.

JB to me is just a minor update. Not something you'll consider when ypu are getting a new phone.

Yeah, as long as ICS Browser+ doesn't run on Jelly Bean, I don't consider it an upgrade.

I'll try for the Xperia T:

The best design of any phone.
subjective, I - and many other prefer lumia. the design is great though
Great skin of android that is elegant and not as intrusive as HTC or Samsung variant
"its not as shit as the others" is not a plus
One of, if not the, brightest screens on the market with Bravia engine
Lumia 920 still beats it according to nokias conference
WhiteMagic technology which saves up batter when the screen is bright
i dont know about some comparable tech, so this one goes through!
13MP stacked camera sensor and amazing camera software
8.7 MP with the best sensor and lense will still destroy it. especially video and low light
About 1-2 seconds from locked-screen to taking a photo
Same on WP7. I imagine its the same in 8
Great ppi pixel density (323)
Lumia 920 beats this (332)
Micro-SD slot
ok!
Dual core Krait chipset
this is a thing the benchmarks will decide. windows phone is super smooth though
Beat every other phone on the market now in benchmarks
Playstation Mobile
Versus Windows Live games. Add to your gamerscore!
Sony exclusive apps like the Walkman
Walkman branded mp3 player, hooray. Full Offline maps and nokia music <3
Android ecosystem with 600 000 apps, you can customise pretty much everything, use face-to-unlock, google beam etc.
Customization is great and shit at once. Most android phones I used irl are super ugly. most just dont want to spend time with it. Windows Phone is beautiful from the get go and still lets you customize the way you want to use your startscreen
Soon to be upgraded to Jellybean with Google Now and Project Butter and will more than likely receive a Key Lime Pie update down the line.

just wanted to argue against your points. i dont have much time (and have a terrible hangover) so excuse if something is not inaccurate!

I just want to figure out which one would give me the most enjoyment.

To me basically a smartphone should dial numbers, keep calendars and contacts, browse the web and do email.

What makes a smartphone actually enjoyable to use in my experience is having a good camera and a wide selection of somewhat interesting apps to tinker with. Sure I'll probably only tap on those apps a few times and then delete them or it will be fad of the week type apps popular amongst my friends, but for my purposes that makes iOS is the most enjoyable smartphone system (having owned Android and WinMo) for me.

iPhone 4S for me currently. I've already invested a lot in the Apple ecosystem (iPad, Mac, apps, music, etc.) that it wouldn't be practical for me to consider an Android or WP device. I've thought about trying a Lumia phone earlier in the year when the 900 was announced but WP is still in its infancy. There's still a long ways to go before the glaring discrepancies becomes less apparent.

Android OS is great for what it is but it's just not for me. I prefer security and smoothness over something I have complete control over. I don't trust myself. lol

Having a Mac doesn't make you locked into getting an iPhone, just like getting a Windows PC doesn't get you locked into getting a Windows Phone.

Sure it's easier to have everything from the same company, but a) diversity is awesome b) don't keep all your eggs in the same basket.

If I were to graduate now (as a student I globe-trot way too much to invest in any serious hardware) and buy a desktop/laptop/tablet/phone, I'd get a Windows desktop with Ubuntu on the side, a MacBook Air, don't know yet what I'd get on the tablet front (Surface, Surface Pro, or iPad), and a Lumia 920. I was seriously anticipating the iPhone 5 but the conference left me severely underwhelmed.

There's no Android anywhere in that list but, as much as I understand the appeal the OS has to some, it just isn't my thing. My brother is an Android guy and I've used his S II and Nexus 7 quite a bit, and I'm even currently rocking a Galaxy Nexus because my Omnia 7 doesn't work on US 3G, but it's not what I want on mobile devices. I love tinkering on my computer (I'm a software engineer after all), but I don't want to deal with roms and flashing and all of that on a tablet or a phone. And even if stock Jellybean is much better than Donut or whatever it was that the Hero I used before getting the Omnia had, it's still, IMO, subpar to Windows Phone in terms of UI.

I've felt like iOS's UI has gotten staler and staler over the years, I was really hoping for something new with the iPhone 5. It'll probably push me away from the iPad and towards the Surface on the tablet front.

Of course, no interest in Blackberry or a Kindle Fire (lol)

I more or less understand the issue with being locked in an ecosystem regarding apps, but music/video bought from iTunes is compatible with WP, Android and a lot of other systems, and your info regarding calendars, contacts, notes, etc is in the cloud so is easily transferible to other OSes or even compatible from out of the box like the google or MS stuff

Maybe that's why. I noticed that CM10/Jellybean on my GS1 was also still very laggy and probably a downgrade from ICS.

With my GNex, the difference between ICS and JB is night and day. My phone virtually never lags or gets stuck on JB and stutters very rarely (mostly only when I'm scrolling through the widgets very quickly), which was not the case with ICS. And by stutter I mean a drop in framerate for probably a few milliseconds; it doesn't really bother me at all.

My single core Samsung Focus S with WP7 phone virtually never lags or gets stuck and never stutters when I'm scrolling through the live tiles very quickly. :)

My preference is iOS > WP > Android. Absolutely hate the Android UI, it's so damn ugly.
WP surpasses iOS with live tiles and looks different but just as beautiful and buttery smooth, but fails due to not having a "taskbar" at the bottom like iOS and more than one physical button.

You mean like when you hold down the back button and the most recent 5 "in memory" apps pops up? Not sure what you mean by not having more than one physical button. Power button, volume rocker and a dedicated camera button. Is that bad to you?
