The other phone I'm thinking about is a Droid X, but it's expensive...

I don't use a dedicated app for that, I use SpringPad instead, a note-taking app that will also capture photos and record audio. It has a widget to make it fairly easy to start a recording from a home screen too.Bboy AJ said:Can someone recommend me a reliable voice recording app? I read they put alot of apps that can not be deleted??? and apparently there is supposed to be 4gigs of internal memory, and right now i have 1.5 just right out of the package? does everything that comes with the phone really take up that much space?
I think the problem with the G2 is that it came with 2 GB installed, rather than the advertised 4GB.TrAcEr_x90 said:Had to pick up a new phone cuz my G1 crapped out on me. How much does the recorder drain the battery?Davidion said:I use recordroid casually, not sure if it's up to snuff for any standards you may have.
It's free, so can't hurt to try.

I think listen is the best. What I do to subscribe is use a computer to add a podcast rss to my rss feed (it will create a "listen" folder in your subs), then Listen will list the subs when it syncs. One big problem with the program is that it will often mess up if you are listening while downloading...demon said:I've axed this before and never really got a satisfactory answer. What is the best podcast downloading/playing software for android? Podkast is fresh donkey shit, and I have no fuckin idea how to find podcasts with Google Listen. I think I heard of one a while ago that cost like 5 bucks but was supposedly really good.

Deadly Cyclone said:Hey all, having a problem with contacts in my phone.
I have my dad in my phone, and he shows up when you hit the phone icon and go to contacts (he is also in my favorites), but when I actually go into my contact book (via the app drawer) he doesn't show up at all.
He also doesn't show in voice searches (like if I say "call Dad").
Anyone know why this may be?
I've had a lot of problems with contacts but my problems seem to have disappeared as soon as I got rid of Sense and switched to a vanilla Android ROM. Are you using Sense, perhaps?Deadly Cyclone said:Hey all, having a problem with contacts in my phone.

It can be used as a To-Do app, but it's not really well-organized for it. It's got most of the basic task management features but you have to dig a bit to get to everything and the tasks you set can get lost amongst other notes you may create in Springpad, unless you filter on tasks only or use SP for nothing other than task management.Epix said:Has anyone tried Springpad? Can it be used as a To-Do kind of thing? I've been looking for a To-Do list app that can be synced over the web.
oops, sorry. Misunderstood what I was told.luxarific said:It has 4GB, but a ton of it is reserved. See this for a more detailed explanation from T-Mo.
Part numbers from an owner's breakdown of his G2. Photos of the chip are in the first post of that thread.
jayb said:That's strange. The contact app icon should take you directly to the same contact tab that you're viewing from your phone icon. Do you have any 3rd party contact apps installed?
maybe go into contacts > menu > display options to make sure nothing is disabled. Also, check to make sure your dad is stored as a google contact, rather than on your phone.
It's pretty good. But man, does it really hog down the CPU sometimes.tokkun said:You're probably thinking of Doggcatcher. I bought it and am satisfied with the price since it's one of my most-used apps. Nice UI, frequently updated, and very full-featured.

I think you're misunderstanding the concept of a Google contact. A Google contact is just any contact that is stored on Google's servers and is synced to your phone. They don't have to have a Google account to be one of your Google contacts. Personally, I don't see any reason to have Phone contacts. Google all the way, baby.Deadly Cyclone said:Hmm, I believe most of mine are phone contacts, not Google ones, as is he.
The one thing I have had issues with is contacts, it is a bit more complicated than it should be. How do I make sure everyone is a Google contact? What if they aren't on Google at all?
I just added all my old contacts from my old phone by hand, some of them (parents, grandparents) don't have Google accounts.
EDIT: Just found all of them in Gmail on my PC, my dad wasn't in there. I'll add him.
If you mean the one that is done by the developer who also makes the snes and genesis emulators, I would assume that there isn't really any set up.rexor0717 said:Alright, so I want to install a gameboy emulator, but I've heard they are tricky to get working. Does anyone here know how to set it up?

Angelus Errare said:I've come to the conclusion that Google needs to buy Doubletwist, update the desktop media player portion of it, and use it as a spearhead for their music service. (As well as being the place people can get their apps for their phones via desktop.) Then quickly update / speed up the Android Doubletwist app / media player, make it the default music player and they have killed quite a few birds with one stone.
