wow, I always hated the touch.facebook.com site because it would never display the most current posts. But I just figured out that while on the News Feed page, you can press on the News Feed tab and it'll switch to Live Feed! Am I the last one to figure this out? :lol

anyway, I hate the facebook app so I'll be using the touch facebook site from now on.
Figured that out like one month after I got my Hero , used to bitch all the time about it :lol

:lol are you kidding me!? That was my main flaw with the touch site...mind is fucking blown. Now I can avoid the app completely! You've made my day. Wow wow wow.

Also: Froyo features and Google copying AppBrain and Simplify Media and javascript bump to fastest mobile browser...all of this stuff, amazing, need it, now.

Wow the stock keyboard is pretty lame at corrections. Is there a better one in the market and/or how do I edit the keyboards word list. UT? Why the hell would I ever want to type that? Reminds me of the iPhone and fir. But that keyboard was much better otherwise. And yeah i know that voice is much better, but I can't use it at work.

I wanna try the Assassin's Creed game but I do not want to pay money.

And to whoever asked about the emulators, I can't speak to the touch-only phones but on the Droid they are fucking stellar.

The market has a 24 hour refund policy. You can install it and try it out, then uninstall and refund within one day and they won't charge you.

Are ther any good farmville-esque games on Marketplace? Trying to find something to keep the girlfriend entertained (.....and me....). Got farm frenzy lite, but wondering if there is somethin that's no so "do it in the time limit".

Cheers, will check that out.

At the moment we're both a bit addicted to Air Control, its a shame that there are not more genre categories for games on the marketplace, I feel like if there were greater scope of genres to search by I'd find a lot more on there.

It's a good game. I loved it on iPhone, but I came to a part at the end that I just couldn't execute and called it quits. Despite being a sidescroller, it manages to feel pretty open and acrobatic.

fuck android

times like this i wish i had gone with an iphone or an established, more stable OS. god damn droid deleted all my text messages for no reason. googled around and apparently this is a known bug.

stock txt program, stock settings.

Wow, sorry to hear that.

SMS Backup, will back up your text messages on to your Gmail account...with labels and all. My brother uses it and it's pretty awesome.

If you goto Settings in the messaging app, do you have delete old messages checked?

:lol We know the ladies love to text.

I think the new Google back-up feature might help with this issue. They have the new "restore" setting which will allow you to move to a new handset without losing your apps or data. Hopefully SMS messages are part of that "cloud" back up.

Uh...there are tons of bugs with iPhones, and step one of fixing them is always to do a restore, which wipes some major stuff like your positioning for all of your apps (have fun rearranging them) or app data. This was fun for me when my camera app decided it would only open upside down. Geniuses had me restore as I knew they would, and then I had to let it sync all my media, moveis, settings, rearrange all my apps there way I had them, and just accept the fact that all my app data, from games to notes were gone and resign in to everything, for hours. And that's with their "Back up" feature.

Technology can be buggy. It happens.

Do you know how I know you've never owned an iPhone before? Because, as a previous iPhone owner, I know the iPhone OS has its own problems as well. I lost a bunch of texts through a restore. It happens.

At least Android has a solution.

i'm just saying, it's 2010. txt tech is old hat and should be flawless at this point.

It's nice to want things. At least there's a solution, though. And I'm glad you brought this up now prior to getting my first Android device soon.

never owned an iphone but i owned a palm treo like an asshat for years and it never deleted my texts. RAGEEEE!!!

Look into switching to Google voice for sms'ing. I dropped my sms plan off my droid after i got that, giving people the new number was a small pain, but dropping the text plan was worth it.

You can review all the sms's on the phone or the website.

My girlfriend woke up the other morning to find her Hero had crashed during the night, and after turning it back on she'd lost all her phone numbers, messages, bookmarks, settings etc... As well as that the browser crashed on launch so had to do a factory reset for her.

Very annoying when stuff like that happens, tried to take precautions to make sure she doesn't lose too much stuff it it happens again (ie. moving all contacts to sim card) but looking around the web it seems to happen to people randomly so.... joy!

Wait, your girlfriend does not use Gmail's contact sync?
Even when I had my iPhone I had all my contacts synced to Gmail. I never keep anything on the Sim card anymore.

It doesn't work for some reason, I've got auto-sync switched on and whenever she connects to the web you can see in the settings that it is re-syncing with the servers, but when I log into her google account and go to contacts there is nothing there. I've googled around on the issue and it seems its a problem other people have had too. Instead I used "Contact2Sim" to move all her contacts off the phone onto the sim.

edit: Just checked again, a grand total of two contacts in her Gmail contacts list. Not sure why her phone won't sync properly.

So how do you get the little number of unread emails for google mail app and the normal mail app? I had that in 1.5, but not 2.1.

Also, is there a all in 1 mail app for me to view googlemail and hotmail?

When using Handcent is it possible to save MMS messages? I can't figure out how to do it at all and feel stupid :(

SMS Backup and Restore looks pretty awesome. Is there one of these that works with MMS as well (that just dumps all your pictures onto the card)?

I think you long hold on the pic to save to sd card. I don't think there's a backup/restore option.

I had a similar problem, but I just kept syncing over and over and it eventually got them all. It was like it couldn't handle having more than 2 or 3 contacts to sync at once. So, maybe try that?

Is there an easy way to set up/link google contacts with the names in my phone or do I have to do t all manually?
thats kind of the point of an android phone. your contacts, photos, calendars, are all synced with google's servers.

Only for "Google" contacts. You can also setup "Phone" contacts that do not sync. prodystopian, if you wondering if there's a way to bulk convert contacts from "Phone" to "Google," I don't think so.

Does the Google contact sync on Android only sync "My Contacts"? I am praying the answer is yes.

You can select which groups to select in 1.5.

They may have changed that in 2.1 to only sync with contacts who you have an email of. Not sure exactly how it works. :(
