Why the fuck hasn't Google fixed how emails show up on Gmail. I don't like scrolling my emails from side to fucking side to see them in it's entirety. I want them to fit the damn screen. UGH

So Google has updated Youtube, Voice Search, Google Voice, Chrome to Phone and now Gmail in the past couple of days. Pretty much only Maps is left.

What did they do to Gmail, Youtube, Voice Search, and Chrome to Phone?

My Droid just got a little update OTA. The stock launcher is now usable, don't remember seeing it in the changelog but the lag and redraw time has been dramatically reduced (typically seen when you've opened a couple apps and hit home). This is nice.

I've read somewhere about an app that lets you stream music from your computer on your phone. What app(s) let you do that?

Subsonic. I set it up last week. Freaking kicks ass.

The web based client allows PC streaming as well away from home...My wife, family etc all log into my 500GB external drive and access the my entire CD to MP3 collection from their Android phones or PC's at any time.

Galaxy S (Bell) in Canada just got their 2.2 updates. You gotta use Kies.

Uhm... hey guys, there are a LOT of cool changes to my phone, anything in particular I should note? Other than how long the novelty of using voice-controlled-everything will last?

A while, I'm sure. :) I got a G2 a month ago, and I'm still loving the voice control, especially for setting alarms and navigation. In the process of typing up this post, I was thinking of how cool it would be if the one icon that handles all of the voice recognition for phone functionality also did google searches for random questions, kinda like the Star Trek computer. So I tried it, and it does, just say "google" before the inquiry. Don't have to go to the separate google voice search widget. I'm betting future Android phones are going to have an external voice control button.

Other than that, I can't comment much, since I started with 2.2.

Download z4root.

I haven't really done anything yet with my root, but the option is nice.

So long as you don't change the ROM, its easy to stay on the same track as non-rooted people.

You can unroot in z4root also.

My Dads just got himself a Dell Streak that he loves.

Any things I can get him for Christmas? Are there Android marketplace gift cards?

Z4root is off the market. Where can I get it?

whoa, got 2.2.1 on my X, and they changed they vibration for a text message. Weird.

Plus, there was an update to Google Voice this week and it broke some functionality. Before, if I got a text message and I read it online and marked it as read, it would sync that to the phone and no longer show that there was a new text.

Now when I check a message on the computer, it still says I have a new text no matter what on the phone. Lame.

Is the mobile App set to "Sync inbox"?

See how long it takes for the internal SD card to die... Hopefully not but it seems they are all ticking time bombs. Mine is in for repair again..

You can take a screen shot by holding back and pressing home. :D

The new Android Market:

Wow! Is this Gingerbread?

Along with the new market, the refund window has gone from 24 hours to 15 minutes. Such total BS, Google! F U!

Yeah that's bullshit. What's different about the market now?

To tell you the truth, I've abused that 24 hour policy a lot. It's like buying a dress to go clubbing and returning it the next day.

Whaaat. I haven't had to use that policy yet, but 15 minutes seems like way too short of a window to determine if an app is broken. Actually, the last two apps I've bought each had annoying problems that I found after the 24-hour period.

Me too. Like beaten games or read comics and returned it. Felt bad but whatever, fair game. Its understandable but an hour would be better than 15mins.

15 minutes is complete bullshit though, you have nowhere near enough time to really try out an app to the full capacity. What a fucking mistake they just made, this is not the Android I fucking love.

Fuck at least give us like 12 hours, 6 if you want to be pricks but 15 minutes, WHAT THE FUCK! NERD RAGE!!!!!!

This was probably something Google had to concede for the developers. If it brings more and better apps, I'm all for it.
Will it, though? How many apps can you really get their full value in one day? It seems like most apps are intended to be used for months or even years as part of your daily routine.

Games are the big exception to that, but I think the game market on Android has bigger challenges than this. And this decision seems like it could hurt the non-games more than it helps the games -- I could see this driving more people to piracy if they get burned too often by broken apps that they can't return.

good, my market has been so f'in busted since the latest update, it crashes on most updates, it doesnt even recognize half of my installed apps for updates... ugh

:lol
That is so fucked'up.

Never had to return anything to the market. But I think the return policy should fluctuate depending on the product. Games and Comics shouldn't have such long return policies (See above :lol )

Something like Beejives could be 24 hours. You need enough time to find out how an app like that effects your device (battery life, crashes, etc.).

They should split the return policy per category.

Finally gonna do 2.2 on my samsung captivate. Is cognition the rom to use or is there a better one. That's what I see via google and some forums.

edit: hmm I finally just got a Update All function on my market :lol but holy shit this locks up my phone.

Nice, I got the new market to run on my Incredible, had to switch out of CM6 to get it working, this shit is nice.

It's out?

EDIT: NM, found it. hehe. Damn shame, won't install on the Fission ROM I have running on my Droid X though. :/

womp, maybe I'm imaging this, but you have a rooted X with a custom rom, right? What's the easiest way to go about this?

I'm looking at the Fission 2.3.1 ROM on xda and I'm liking that it's basically stock Android 2.2. Go with that one?

I'm still using the 2.2.2 Fission ROM at the moment but it is a vision of glory. It is like running my old Droid on the X. My Running Services have never been lower! Goodbye Blur! :D

I definitely recommend it. You will have to install most of the Google apps via the Market out of the box though (GMail, Voice, Maps etc) so don't be scared when you don't immediately see them.

So what about paid apps I already have on my phone? Would I have to rebuy those?

I'm going through the Fission walkthrough, and the root process looks pretty intense with Terminal stuff and what not. Can I just use that easy z4root and then go right to the "Bootstrapping" step?
