I believe there actually isn't a way for them to discern what device is using bandwidth. It may be that they just approximate using the actual usage amount, ie. if you just tether to browse a couple of webpages or read a few simple emails here and there they'll never know.

I've been musing abit on that Moto Atrix laptop (and similar solutions), why not use the phone as the trackpad?
Why dock it at the rear, a position that makes the laptop solution cumbresome to carry around inbetween meetings/classes. The phone functionality (while carrying the laptop around with the phone "hid away") could be handled by connecting a handsfree with a small screeen attached that showed you the caller info. When the screen's flipped up that info simply goes into a popup window.
Superficially it seems like a nice solution, the laptop bottom part doesn't need to be much thicker than the phone to allow the dock, 2.5mm would most likely more than suffice. Add two spring loaded arms to hold the phone in place and there you go.

Sure, Sony Ericsson still sucks at updating firmware, but it's not like you don't get one of the sexiest hardware in return. Frankly I do think Android is mature enough that you don't really lack any important functionality. What does Gingerbread bring? Better cut and paste? A retro TV turn off screen? Green-ish styling? What does Honeycomb bring? A better music app that's already solved by SE's own UI? Tablet stuffs that doesn't seem to transfer much to phones? What are the features you really must have?
I'm not arguing that manufacturers should not step up their firmware updating game, but people often just want the newest just because it is new.

To be fair, I don't blame Sony Ericsson completely for it. Google has just as much blame to be placed for the mess that is software updates and manufacturer skins that the individual manufacturer has.xtop said:
Google keeps claiming they won't step up and do anything because of the open nature of the platform. Well, when the openness of the platform actually begins to benefit users as opposed to carriers and OEM's, I'll be impressed.

Honeycomb looks really nice. It's really pulled me away from getting an iPad 2 and heavily leaning towards a Honeycomb tablet. Widgets, tabbed browsing, notifications, all look great. Really want to see more of it though but that 10 min video was nice. I hope it comes out polished. Apple really is going to have to pull out something significant to pull me back into considering an iPad.

I'm kind of confused. Honeycomb is exclusive to tablets, or is that just what it's starting out on? Will we ever see it on phones?

I must say, I'm surprised how smooth it runs. Going by the leaked videos yesterday I thought it would be the usual Android experience with a 'kinda 60 fps-ish UI, but not really'. That makes it more appealing than QNX on the PlayBook or WebOS (at least so far).Luckyman said:
