Would be an interesting turn of events. At the moment it seems they can't make any progress on anything outside of Monster Hunter, Mobile and Resident Evil without some kind of 1st party intervention.

Ace Attorney's been doing well enough, though that's probably a lower risk investment for them.

Four: There is still some hypocrisy because Ryse was another game that was funded by Microsoft studio and I didn't see any pitchforks then. Where were the "Ryse: Good for Crytek, Bad for Gamers" articles?

Crytek is a private company isn't it? Private companies need funding for games. Most people have a hard time believing a publisher like Capcom needs funding for one of their biggest franchises.

What about Capcom's funding for Dragon's Dogma, Operation Racoon City, DMC, Remember Me??

Guess what? All games sold poorly.

Two of those games were outsourced cheaply to the west. They've got that upcoming MH MMO farmed out to China. Also, didn't they just publish Remember Me? They picked up an in-development/completely developed game to publish.

Seasons 1-3 of Killer Instinct will cost $60 new and include 24 characters, assuming that they do a third season.

Street Fighter 4 had 25 characters and cost $60 new.

Seems like roughly the same value to me. If a game is going to have a huge roster, I'd rather be able to pick the fighters I want to play and save money. The problem with KI when it started was that the roster was so small you pretty much had to buy the whole package.

What modes do KI have ?
These day fighting games have a whole bunch of modes.

One: Microsoft would never get Resident Evil because it is currently Capcom's most profitable IP.

6 months ago I doubt anyone could have predicted Tomb Raider going to Xbox either. It's certainly the biggest Eidos IP in the West.

Development on Dead Rising 3 likely started 3 years ago. MS did not choose DR3 over Street Fighter. We don't really have any idea who Capcom shopped the game around to.

Still trying to figure out what your point is. You said will people be outraged if RE goes to Xbox and almost everyone has said it depends on the circumstances.

What is your point?

I just get the sense that if and when Microsoft buys out timed or permanent exclusivity on Resident Evil the reaction on this forum will not be "Oh gee that's okay because it seems like Capcom doesn't have a lot of money. Thanks to Xbox for really making it happen!"
Err, you completely glossed over my point about the PS4 being the sensible choice for exclusivity and then portrayed the situations as equivalent when I just established that they aren't.

Why should people be happy about the sensible choice being outweighed by a giant pile of cash that excludes the vast majority of the market, all for the purpose of drawing more attention to a product that no one cared about in the first place? Hell, according to Spencer, he bought exclusivity for Tomb Raider because for years he had tried and failed to make a game which could compete with Uncharted. So again, money substitutes for merit. Who seriously wants that?
