Animal Crossing 3DS trailer

Swimming, hanging stuff on walls, different houses. This trailer blew me away. I've played all three Animal Crossings to full completion and I can't wait to get my hand on this one. Everyone complaining can get out now.

PLEASE include the ability to take pictures of stuff in the real world and turn it into patterns for shirts and such.

PLZ!

Day 1 if so, Day 2 if not :p

To me, that's their prerogative, but there was very little new to buy in 2 STRAIGHT versions. If you don't provide new gameplay, then you ought to provide greater depth to the old. They did neither.

We'll see how much "new" exists in this one.

(Was anyone else surprised that this series plummetted so quickly? They seem incredibly easy to make, but Nintendo still failed.)

Seriously, we dont want an overhaul, just major new additions.

Bigger homes + ability to purchase beach home. Let me build a porch extension and a garden.

New things to plant, why not corn, tomatos, etc?

More to collect, double the museum size. Add a coin and postage stamp exhibit. More of everything (fish, bugs etc). Make the "city" part of the town. Make the town more fluid. Moo Pharmacy goes out of business and Racoon's Game Shop opens up.

Bring back NES games.

Better graphics. Note that there were no footprints in the snow. The freaking N64 version had that.

Go back to original camera angle, or make it optional.

Make the town grow over time. Newcomers build new homes. Homes go on fire and get demolished.

It seems like every addition has been worse than the previous since the GC. Tropical Island? Gone. NES games? Gone.

Yeah, all sounds great! And add more stuff really.

I do love Animal Crossing but it is ridiculous when there is clearly room for improvement, and Nintendo seem to spend considerable time developing, yet re-release what is essentially the same game. Exactly like Nintendogs + Cats, brilliant original game with so much potential for expansion, yet very lazily updated.

Skipped the Wii version of AC, because I put so much time in the DS and it was so similar, if Nintendo doesn't expand this game significantly I'm not interested.

The 3DS version does look graphically great though!

i like a lot of your ideas, but with VC, this is kinda not happening anymore, i think.

Nintendo was releasing $20 "Nintendo Classics" on GBA and yet they managed to be free in AC. Hell, they were releasing the very same games for $5 on the e-card reader.

And we're talking about crap like soccer and tennis which people wont pay 50 cents for. AC had mario, warios woods and zelda, but they were unplayable in north america because NOA are greedy bastards.

It looks pretty nice, but the Animal Crossing series never really evolved like I would have liked. I enjoyed the GCN version, but the DS version was too similar and bored me. Following that, I just haven't gotten interested in the series again.

What trailer is most of this thread watching? This has better graphics than City Folk, the style of the characters is redesigned, everyone is taller and has a more of a body, opposed to the old stubby Hello Kitty ones. Many of the villagers have more detailed features, like that dog girl that was chasing the player around especially. The trees are fully modeled, instead of flat leaf patterns.

The ability to finally hang things on the wall is nice. The trailer shows a clock being hung, but I'm glad I can finally put up fine paintings around the house. And yeah, SWIMMING looks nice, also note that the player isn't wearing shoes or pants at that part.
The village itself has many new features, like the park bench, and what was that wood box surrounded by flowers? An artificial bee hive for easily catching those pesky bees and harvesting their honey for profit?

And not to mention the fact that this is a 3DS game, that instantly implies a few standard new features involving SpotPass. And here's hoping for the ability to visit your friend's village even when they're not playing, a feature originally promised for City Folk.

The taller character models still look whack.

Swimming is... neat? I guess we'll have to see what it leads to. I still need to know if getting the villagers's portraits is back, it was my favorite part of the DS game and I really missed it in City Folk.

I don't know if I should be ashamed that the swimming made me go "OMG, awesome!" immediately.
Still, I'll probably have fun with it regardless. Hopefully we can get a good sized house this time around, even if we have to go with the "all the players live in one house so it's bigger" excuse. I need my room!

Ugh, I'm so done with this series. The original N64 game is one of my favorite games of all time, but jeez... do something new, Nintendo. It's been a whole decade, and finally we get... swimming? Come on. I'm sure this'll still be fun for those new to the franchise. It's the Pokemon syndrome I guess.

Then people would hate on it for being too different.
The people who would do that are part of the problem, and shouldn't be catered to. This series needs some serious fucking help.

I can't believe they are so unwilling to add new ideas to this series, especially because it seems like this kind of game would lend itself to so much interesting creativity. I played a ton of the DS version, but don't see from the trailer why I would need this.

I would expect more from an expansion pack. The game has barely changed since the 64 and swimming and a few minor additions isn't enough to bring me in.

Unless there are some more changes there is no way im getting this.

Why did the pop-up book perspective of the DS game have to stick? I really hated it way back then, but accepted it as a limitation of the system. What befuddled me was when the Wii version had it, but how can the series keep going on like this? It isn't fun exploring a world from such a limited perspective where everything seems to rise from the ground out of the distance.

master sword was in the DS version. it was some kind of wi-fi gift i think.
Yes, I remember. But that place looks different, like a small temple. Maybe now you can decorate your village using special objects?

And I predict leaf icons are coming back, a mess. Look at 1:10, is it so fucking hard to create a thumbnail or something?

With everything looking like LEAVES, it gets hard to organize all your items you know...

City Folk was incredibly disappointing for me. They really need to up the network features for me to be interested in this one.

They just decorated their room with pillars and stuff.

The series needs a LOT more activities to do and functions added.

Swimsuit and wallhanging and outside furniture were all things I wanted from the first sequel, and when I saw that they added virtually nothing to the Wii version, that's when I started jumping ship. They talked about a furniture editor prior to that one's release.

They're getting lazy and have already dropped the ball after Wild World (the series' peak).

I thought the trailer was pretty good. I'm looking forward to this one.

+ They've spruced up the visuals quite a bit (looks MUCH nicer than the Wii version).
+ New music in the trailer, so I am assuming this one will have new music (the Wii version used the DS music)
+ Small additions like the bee house, tent, bushes, dock/swimming, more rotatable rooms, wall decor, benches, etc.

The Link outfit was in the Wii version, and the Master Sword item was been in the games for a while now.

I assume they'll let you play as your Mii in the same way you could on the Wii version.

I wish they would have shown the bottom screen in these.

Animal Crossing should take the place of Miis(similar to avatars and Home). It is really hard to be interested in this series, but what if it served as a base for my gaming and how cool tie-ins?

My first experience with the series was Wild World for the DS, can anyone tell me if the N64 version was better than that garbage? Was Wild World considered one of the "good ones" in the series?

The game was nice for the first day or so, but the town grew too quickly (and then hardly ever changed) and there didn't seem to be much variety in fish/plants/dialog. Especially dialog. It felt like every NPC would just cycle through 3 dialog choices. It makes everyone in the game feel like a robot.

In short:

I'm thinking of picking this up, and I want to believe Wild World was just one of the crappy ones in the series much like City Folk. Was it, or is this series simply not for me?

The music in the trailer is great.

they need to bring back the GBA island and tanning.

When I saw the person going to the dock, I thought "GBA ISLAND!"

Still a chance. :(

I wish you could still obtain NES games like in the GC version. If they're too cheapskate to do so they should at least give you some option to play the classic games you got on Virtual Console in the comfort of your Animal Crossing home.
