Anime Dubs that are Hilariously Bad

Mexican here, so i grew up with an actual faithful to the japanese version dub for Digimon (hell, the opening for us was "Butterfly" as opposed to the shit americans got), however, for the movie, for reasons that are beyond me, we got a dub of the american dub and it is the weirdest, stupidest thing in the world.

Like, what? they order pizza in the middle of nowhere for no reason? Who the hell thought that up?

Thankfully, we were spared from the Angela anaconda short. I think.

Did you get the Digi-Rap? That almost kills me every time.

The cringe lyrics combined with static Digimon hopping around on screen *shudder*.
 
Ghost Stories dub is the hardest I've laughed at an anime before. And yes, I've seen Cromartie High School, Nichijou, parts of Gintama, and Nichibros.

Correct. After listening songs like Brave Heart or Butterfly, we get that.

I'm still annoyed the Mexican Yugioh dub used the 4Kids dub as base instead of the original one.

Hey, OG YGO was different, but it was still good and gave us the abridged series.

Latin American dubs were superb back in the 90s.

After Yugioh Duel Monsters and Beyblade era, the dubs became awful.
 
The American dub of Naruto is fucking terrible

They use like 5 people to voice every character, with no variation in tone or delivery

Damn right, I still remember when a friend gave me a DVD with three or four episodes back in High School.

Bloody hell, I couldn't get into it because the dub was fucking hilarious in the second chapter.

It was weird, the first ep had japanese voices with subtitles, the second was in english and the third was a european spanish dub. Had no idea hentai was dubbed over there!

nobody ever sounds like an actual human being

then again I guess characters in anime always sound like characters in anime regardless of the language so maybe I just think anime voice direction in general is trash
 
I'm actually quite tolerant of dubs and prefer to watch them if given the option. I don't find them as bad as people usually complain about, but sometimes they are just plain bad. To say all of them are bad is completely wrong on the flipside. I've been watching the redub of Cardcaptor Sakura on crunchy roll.... And man it's horrible. It does get better with time as these things usually always do, but the delivery is so robotic, dead and fake... So painful. I'm on my phone and can't find any examples, but the original 4kids version was miles better. That's saying something. Also the fact that they redubbed the entire 70 episodes only to edit out Xialong's confession to Sakura about liking Yukito in the return card episode. Even though they clearly made it obviously he liked Yukito before in the same dub, ugh!

You haven't lived until you heard the german version. Oh god, that was beyond anything I had ever experienced. We watched Bible Black with german voices in a small group once. And holy hell, we knew it would be bad, but what we experienced was just, like, I don't know. One personen sounded as if she had dubbed her character via phone. It seriously sounded as if the character spoke through a phone. Like, what the hell. We also suspect that one of the female character had at least two different voice actors. And we ae pretty sure one of them was male. We just died during this. I have no words.

I'd say the first season of Yugioh is pretty well dubbed (for its time) even if it changes a lot of things. From Battle City on though it starts to suck.

Lol, so did your friend lent you the porn and basically told you "here, have a wank with my DVDs". I can't imagine myself lending porn, much less hentai and during high school to another friend. I'm ashamed to this day to admit I've had more than my fair amount of fun with the likes of Bible Black and I can't fathom the thought of admitting it while in school and lending the DVDs to someone else.

They only used it for like 20 episodes, and while I'm not a fan anymore the Naruto dub is mostly great otherwise.
 
Of the more recent-ish stuff, the worst has to be those East Asian dubs like the aforementioned Cardcaptor Sakura one. In some cases those were never meant to be brought to North America. But sometimes companies like Bandai and Geneon would go cheap and that's how we wound up with truly dreadful dubs for Fantastic Children and Karin.
