I picked up Jujutsu Kaisen (manga) last year, got excited with the anime announcement, and pleased with the two episodes of the anime so far. The OP and ED are just to my taste too.

soft what? isn't that a spokon? it's not even gay like kuroko no basket (that i absolutely love).

What can i say, i'm a spokon whore.
There's definitely husbando shenanigans going on, but everyone seems to love that manga / show. I might watch it down the line, but it's hard to convince myself to watch a volleyball anime.

It is totally gay. According to every girl that l know that likes this show. Hell Yuri on Ice is also a spokon. Why would they lie to me about this?

Yuri on the ice was pretty gay yeah, kuroko or haikyuu are incredibly far from that one.

Also maybe the females watch spokon for the cameratism part between the guys but every guy watch this stuff for the sport part with supermoves etc.

They got us. We thought we finally got a higurashi remake but it was actually a new anime-only arc.

How is the VN different?
The VN is like a mystery novel, the anime adaption changes the theme to focus more on the horror aspect. A lot of the character development aspects were skipped in the anime. Deen was trying to make a flashy horror anime. The first two chapters of Kai are actually the last two episodes of the first season, so that the Kai anime was actually just the last two chapters of Kai(lots of stuff in the first half of Kai was skipped). Its a good anime but bad adaption.
On another note they are giving hints that they will tie Gou with Umineko and the entire When They Cry franchise in general.

fuck japanese disney lmao. cornball shit.
Oh look. Brap comes in with a completely unnuanced all or nothing hot take. What a surprise.

I posted that as a dig at the last season of Oregairu since it focuses on the shitty / awkward romance of the series, which is much weaker than the more comedic / situational aspects.

With regards to what Miyazaki said, there's some truth to it, but everything in moderation. It makes sense to iterate based on influences while also looking for new ideas from the outside. Certainly he himself can't claim that he only used real-life observations to fuel his creative fires, but his criticism is fair and applies heavily to a lot of the trashier lowest-common-denominator modern anime output.

But Oregairu only had one good season. You just came to this realization after they made your girl cry and rubbed it in your face. It was even worse in that other train wreck Haganai where the author purposely fucked all the ships up after the fans were happy with the story. Yeah.

Mashle and Chainsaw Man are currently the highlights of Jump for me. I also appreciate the fact things like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen are allowed to run concurrently in Shounen Jump. Too bad Moriking seems to be axed, I really enjoyed that one. Monster 8 is weird, I can´t tell if it will go like World Trigger or Naruto but I will pay attention to it.

On the anime side of things, Dai´s Daibouken is really nice - I hope it turns out to be like Mahoujin Guru Guru in terms of quality and genuine delight to watch. Major 2nd continues to be good, but I hope we don´t dwell on girls team for too long. Jujutsu Kaisen anime could use a bit different colour scheme. It reminds me of the Hunter Hunter ´99 vs ´11 situation. I mean it IS great but the choice of colours doesn´t sit well with me. God of Highschool was a fucking letdown (like I needed another one after Tower of God), I went over to check manhwa and realised - manhwas aren´t for me methinks. Especially considering the fact that people hyped those two as two of the best manhwas around.

99 vs 11 wasn't just about the colors but the overall feel and animation. The Studio that made it seemed to have vanished from the planet or is doing random anime/long breaks between works. I wish they could have adapted more mainstream manga before they faded into obscurity.

The second Elaina ep was ok-ish. I believe the next ep is the flower one. Heh.
That's Danmachi for you. Everyone has the idiot ball.
I mean I still like it. Just not the obvious forced drama. Can people get along with monsters? Yes, this isn't Kuro no Maou levels of edge. Do we need an entire season of that?

I hope I'm wrong and that the entire season isn't basically S2 but without best girl.

Dai no Daibouken ep 3 was great. I'm super enjoying this adaptation. The pace is brisk and the overall production is fantastic. I enjoyed the 1991 series but it moves at a slug's pace even when it isn't necessary so it drags a little bit when watching it.

besides Danmachi season 3, and Dragon Quest Dai. there's hasn't been a lot of anime i been watching. not enough unique anime with a combination of good artstyle/likable characters/engaging story to my liking.

i'm hoping footage of the Ane Naru Mono ova, gets revealed soon.

what does Jujutsu Kaisen do to separate itself from the myriad of horror shounen? i felt like early Bleach's focus on the hollow, did horror shounen better than what most modern shounen are trying to do with horror.

BTW if you have Hulu you can watch Majo no Tabitabi in it. It seems they killed the simulcast option within their anime category for some reason? There's also that incest highschool show that is trash and the bear girl mmo show.

When they Cry is getting a remake? I hope that op song is still in there somewhere. That shit was great.
Its like a sequel although it uses the VN art style. Infact the current events are not really Onikakushi-hen as their are some major changes
  • Keiichi is not hallucinating but Rena is being creepy anyways.
  • Keiichi did not meet Takano(that was what triggered his symptoms)
  • Tomitake is not dead but "missing".
Its possible that Rika has done something and their are possible hints of Umineko connection.

Anime adjacent but has anyone here read any of the Vampire Hunter D books? I read the first three or four and they are pretty solid. Nothing amazing but nice, short, and fun. D's character isn't super in-depth but it works well enough.

I can’t really compare it with other horror shounen since I haven’t watched plenty of those. But I like how easy it is to follow the plot, characters, and how random and fast the story goes.

It doesn't come across as scary. The action comes first.

It’s a good series for young people, like 20 and under. They haven’t read a lot of manga yet so they don’t get that feeling of deja vu. They also like dark and edgy stuff (just look at how popular Chainsawman has become). Personally that brand of shonen doesn’t do it for me, despite the comptent art and scene composition. I much prefer Orient for the characters and Fire Force for the humor and setting

Alright, alright Jujutsu Kaisen is pretty good. The ed is fire as well. Mappa still got those top tier dance animations.

I mean the only series that come to mind is Ushio and Taro which is based off of an older manga and made by the same studio

The worst thing Fire Force has is the humor. Then the girl characters. SMH Soul Eater.

That Majo no Tabitabi episode 3... reminded me of Kino no Tabi (but the behaviour of the MC is vastly different).
Akudama Drive, Tonikaku Kawaii and Jujutsu Kaisen seem good animes too me.

Ushio to Tora is amazing, I read the Manga twice in the past and just recently finished the anime. Here to hope Jujutsu will be consistently as amazing.

Fire Force is not bad, I've been following the Manga. But I felt like the plot is all over the place
