Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni fulfills all the criteria, just don't watch the second season since it takes a huge nose dive after the first few episodes.

Nooo! I go against recommending Elfen Lied. The series was just so boring, they didn't focus on the awsomeness of Lucy. It was just one dragging story...

I read the Elfen Lied manga... which was way more graphic than the anime btw. Geass... seen season 1, sort of want to watch s2.

He gains the ability to destroy anything ihe takes a photo of, (as per Saiga's hard-on for photography) and uses this ability to escape.
