As for your last paragraph, i had no idea he said those things. Did he? If so, then yes, he might as well be a terrible person, and he should probably be criminally prosecuted, because that's clearly hate speech. Still, it doesn't make all his opinions automatically invalid...

I mean, there are plenty of examples within the game series where Zelda was a more active part of the in-game narrative than she is in Breath of the Wild. Sometimes she even helps you in gameplay.
There's a lot I like about Zelda in Breath of the Wild, but she's still a damsel in distress. It's just that while she's waiting to be rescued she's theoretically doing something useful by pressing the pause button on Ganon's shenanigans.
