This game completes me. I am Trace Memory. I cannot wait! :D

Why didn't they talk about it at the NOA conference? Think it's just too early, or too low profile, or something? Should I be concerned?
America took some time to rename it Trace Memory - prob legal reasons I can't remember and I also don't think it sold quite well in America. With Europe leading the pack.

When I ran my site I used to have it on hand. But the interview was I think from a low key site so while it kinda spreaded it was to be forgoten for ever.

I didn't forget that!

It was great to hear that they were becoming aware of the fan-base for Hotel Dusk, and to a lesser extent, Trace Memory/Another Code~

Xfactor: you're welcome, and could you or anybody else please post more Trace Memory/Another code pics?

I used to think a Hotel Dusk sequel was more likely than a Trace Memory sequel. HD left so many things open at the end.

Although since the worlds are intertwined, perhaps Trace Memory: R will reveal some of those answers! :D

I want to know about Mila, personally~ Her story was sad, but the character needs a bit more development.

And who is the artist for Trace Memory/Another Code and Hotel Dusk?? It's really amazing~

Keep the avatar materials coming, please!! ^o^

Hum, never played Trace Memory, but I did play and love Hotel Dusk (though I haven't seen the "full ending"). Is it similar gameplay or story-wise?

Similar gameplay, and story is told in similar ways.

In My another code LTTP thread

Long and short of my thoughts:

-I liked the solitude of the game (player is alone for most of the game). Very Myst like in its execution.
-I really enjoyed the mansion sequence. Though a bit contrived, the way the story of the occupants are told is very nice. And it somehow manages to delve into the supernatural without being totally ridiculous.
-Great soundtrack (though limited tracks)
-Good puzzles
-Fast pace

interview snippet taken from the post linked above:

NoE: How do you see the future of the interactive mystery novel as a genre of video games, and do you already have ideas for a follow-up title? And will we see Kyle Hyde again?

TM: “We think in the future, there will be games where people can deduct – can draw conclusions - with various other people at the same time, by making use of a network feature. We think at that time, games will become truly interactive.

“As for Mr. Hyde - we think that he is also looking forward to meeting you again.”

My god, if there's any mention of him or any other Hotel Dusk characters in this...

I remember back in the official Hotel Dusk when we discovered that Rosa's Husband was the Boat Captain. That seemingly little fact, brought with it huge implications!

I can't wait to explore this world! :D

It seems like the game will be full 3-D. One of the charms of Another Code was the CG stills. I hope they keep some of those elements. But it may not be possible

Mind=Blown

Man, I'd love a Hotel Dusk on the Wii.

how are you, B!TCH? How is your day going, B!ITCH?
I always meant to but I never got around to playing the first one. I'm slacking. I love these types of games.

I made a gif of the footage in case anyone wanted it.

This game has definitely got my attention. I just hope it controls well with the Wii-mote.

Man I forgot Trace Memory's story already, and my copy of the game is in America. Anybody know where I can read the story summary?

Also, I wasn't too big a fan of Trace Memory. The story never captured me like Hotel Dusk's did. I LOVED Hotel Dusk, but would probably give Trace Memory only a 6. With that said, I am very much looking forward to the Wii sequel; I hope a NA release date gets announced soon.

“As for Mr. Hyde - we think that he is also looking forward to meeting you again.”

It's already been done. His trophy is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so there goes the second meeting. Ashley Robbins has a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl too. Does any one here know if the Ashley Robins model there was created just for Brawl, or was it ripped from the DS game? I've actually yet to unlock either of them myself...

I'm excited for Another Code Wii, I've been craving for a good point & click adventure for a while. Does anyone know if Secret Files: Tunguska for Wii or DS is any good?

whaaaaaaaaaaaat? Is that the only apparent link between the two games ?

I liked Trace Memory. I much preferred Hotel Dusk because the story and setting were so engrossing, but Trace Memory still had its charms and some of the puzzles were pretty mindblowing at the time (especially
having to tilt the DS screen so the top screen reflects on the bottom screen and reveals the full code
)

I hope they have learned their lesson about being able to pick up items though; I don't like the fact that certain items can't be picked up until you find the puzzle that is associated with it. Or if they do still do that, make sure you don't have to traipse across several rooms to get the item in question.

I actually like that...It LOGICALLY makes sense considering in real life you wouldn't go "Hey look, a hammer! I think I'll carry it around with me just in case I have to break something!"

Does anyone have a good refresher on Trace Memory's story? I've played the game, but I really can't remember it that well.

You talking about this interview from June last year? Below are some quotes:

Cubed3.com: Are there any elements of Another Code found in Hotel Dusk (such as the mysterious Mila looking extremely similar to Ashley)?

Taisuke Kanasaki, Director and Character Designer: I think there are lots of elements in common between this game and Another Code, such as mystery solving and atmosphere of the game. Mila looks similar to Ashley, maybe because she took over Ashley's mysteriousness.

Cubed3.com: The game ends in such a way that a sequel seems extremely possible. Could we see Kyle Hyde take on another adventure in the future?

Takuya Miyagawa, CEO of CING Inc.: You may have a chance to see him in the near future. I think he is looking forward to seeing you again, too...

Cubed3.com: And do you think games like Another Code and Hotel Dusk would work well on the Wii?

TM: I think that the innovative Wii interface and the adventure genre fit well together. I believe we will be able to provide an unprecedented adventure if Another Code and Hotel Dusk are realised on Wii.

Cubed3.com: Finally, will we ever see successors to Another Code or Hotel Dusk on Wii in the future?

TM: We feel that some ideas are important for DS, while others are important for Wii. Therefore, we think that there should be game styles specialised for each piece of hardware. I think there will be a possibility of the games appearing if something new can be brought to the table in the worlds of Hotel Dusk or Another Code. And at that time, this is the kind of challenge we will be excited about.

I liked both games for different reasons

Each also had flaws that the other didn't have, though. I'll never for the life of me understand why Cing thought having missable quests to get the good ending was a good idea.

What I got out of it was that Hotel Dusk went over the top with the dialog and had less puzzles. I liked it though.

wow, after seeing that gif my interest has gone way up! This gen needs more noncombat adventure games that are just meant to give a great sense of exploration and setting. I'm going to get to replaying Hotel Dusk right after I finish TWEWY.

Here's the metacritic for those who want to get an idea of what others were saying at the time.

I think hindsight is proving that this game was better than most people gave it credit for~

70/100

I still have to acquire Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk. I'm starting to become a fan of the point n clicks, so it looks like these will hit the spot exactly. And the fact that they're getting sequels is even better.

I finished Trace Memory last night. Took me about 5 hours. Short yes, but I think the length fit the game well. I really enjoyed it.

I just read on Wikipedia that Ashley is English-Japanese in the PAL version, whereas in the NA version, she's Japanese-American. If there's voice acting in the Wii game, I wonder if they'll bother to have two VAs, one with an American accent and one with an English accent.

that's really interesting.. I can totally see her with an English accent, and no doubt that would be cuter~ ^o^
