Another Infamous: Second Son screenshot (offscreen) [Up: More Images]

So where is the grab from?

From the stream, showed a video displaying the various environments in the game + dynamic weather (as I said before, IIRC, that part of the video actually showed the water drying up like the Cryengine vid that came out recently).

Guessing a screen capture program was running (as the stream hasn't shown up in the archives yet) and this particular screen was grabbed from that.

Fox just confirmed you'll have ways to combine powers.
I was at the panel, and I honestly got the opposite impression. He said that they are completely separate move sets, but you'll be able to form combos with them. Not that you can actually combine the two, which would have been cool.
You can choose to be a hero or villain like in the previous infamous games.
Nice!!
I feared it wasn't returning.
I feel like the question regarding this was a jab at the previous games, since he asked if there would finally be some much needed subtlety to the morality.

So I assume that you're given a choice to steal another conduit's powers and I assume that if you choose to do so thats an evil karma action (since its selfish).

But what if you can choose not to steal or copy Fetch'es neon powers? Do you stick to smoke the whole game?

Basically what I'm wondering is if this whole stealing powers thing is forced on you or if its a choice.

They showed more in game footage.
Edit: beaten

Wow, I thought it was art work from the order. thanks for answering

He started off answering by saying something like "There will definitely be ways to combine powers, but..." then what you posted. I agree that using them separately is more of the focus, but he definitely said you can combine them in some way.

This is looking all kind of awesome.
Bit worried that it may not make 2014:(
I don't know why, but for some reason I'm expecting a delay announcement at some point.

Any reason for that line of thinking or 'just cause'? I can't see how it'll miss 2014 when it's coming in February, it was one of the first PS4 games shown.

This game looks so awesome but for some reason I have a fear at the back of my head that it wont deliver and there will be a lot of cuts to get the game out in Feb. I so want SP to pull a ND and shatter our expectations. Infamous series although good always felt lacking so I hope it's 3rd time lucky. I am rooting for you SP!

I was fortunate enough to tag along with the journo's who attended Sucker Punch's showing on Thursday. I was with a Playstation community group that was selected alongside the MOFILM Blogger competition that the official blog held recently. Figured I would throw my impressions into this thread.
I suppose this is proof: http://imgur.com/ytfYNku
Oh, and this too: http://imgur.com/Qso066L

- First and foremost, the guys and gals at Sucker Punch are some of the sweetest, most passionate people I have ever met. They were so excited to share info with us.
- We didn't get any hands-on. Everything we saw that was real-time was controlled entirely by Sucker Punch.
- Not sure if worth noting, but some devs were using early development kit versions of the PS4 controller while others had the finalized model.
- I asked about unique locations. One of my issues with the first and second inFAMOUS was that some buildings were copied and pasted over and over. Sounds like they're making Seattle much more diverse than New Marais and Empire City. Lots of real-world landmarks are being recreated - including a certain gas station with a large neon pink elephant. (I'm from Chicago so I wasn't familiar, but they insist that if you're a local, you'll recognize it).
- LOTS of small inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper easter eggs to be found in the world.
- The game is BEAUTIFUL.
- We had a hard time parting our eyes from the ground even! Light reflections and water are almost photo-realistic. Same goes for neon - it really needs to be seen to be believed.
- Draw distance is great. One dev brought the camera way up high and showed us a significant chunk of the world. Looked great, even from that vantage point.
- The HUD was blurred for one presentation - but the color of the HUD could be seen. I think it was orange - probably because smoke was being used.. This color likely changes when the player switches powers.
- DLC is not being considered quite yet. All efforts for the time being are on finishing the game.
- Nate Fox has no idea that he's an inFAMOUS community god.
- Troy Baker was the best-man at his in-game brothers wedding. And Fetch is actually that guys real-world wife.
- There appears to be a forest in the game. In hindsight, I should have asked how traversal works in wooded areas. In the city limits, you can get boosts off the top of cars and shoot through building vents. But what is there to do in the former environs? Perhaps we have a forest-esque power coming?
- I asked if Sucker Punch was transitioning into a two-team, two-game studio like Naughty Dog. They can't really say at this point.
- Destructability looks awesome. Some things stay destroyed such as security cameras, whereas some objects like scaffolds appear to regenerate eventually.
- Particle effects are obsessive compulsive! They showed us a slowed down animation with Deslin transforming into smoke and back. You can see tiny bits of his body and clothing break down and subsequently regroup.
- The comic cutscenes are making a return, but looking so much better thanks to three-dimensional characters and trippy splatter techniques (you saw this in the last cutscene where Fetch's powers are being taken).
- The touch pad is being used to free NPC's who have been locked in cages by the PMC group.
- Deslin needs to "take back the city from the invading military, piece by piece" - reminds me of taking over turf, San Andreas or Saints Row style.
- We saw what appeared to be a Dragonfire drone flying around. It was weaving around world objects and trees impressively.
- Some pedestrians appear to be injured, and roll around on the ground like past inFAMOUS titles. This of course suggests that you can heal them or absorb their life energy for your own.

Well, that is all for now! I'll return if anything else comes to mind from my visit. All in all, I walked away impressed (as did the REAL journalists who were there it seems - even Michael McWhertor from Polygon!). My personal sentiment is that Sucker Punch will be to the PS4 what Naughty Dog was to the PS3. They certainly seem to have risen to the occassion.

I'm quite happy for them! But I'm selfishly more happy for myself, as I get to play it in just a few short months! :)

Any questions? Ask away GAF!

Thanks for the impressions. Sucker Punch's stock is definitely on the rise and this looks utterly amazing.

Thanks for the impressions, RealityPales! Game's sounding even better with every new bit of information. I hope they officially release a video of the new footage soon.

Sony's easy to dev for console is already paying dividends, it's amazing what Sucker Punch has been able to pull off with PS4 so soon. I really didn't like how their games looked on PS3.

- Troy Baker was the best-man at his in-game brothers wedding. And Fetch is actually that guys real-world wife.

Wow that's awesome. Laura Bailey and Troy will probably be in more games together, bff's wife high five. Well they didn't actually work together on SR but voiced the same main character.

No questions really, but thanks for taking the time to give such excellent impressions. Your post is more informative, comprehensive and readable than many professional gaming site articles lol.

That's pretty interesting. How much of the world do you think they showed you, and can you give us an example of how big it might be? I'd be happy with RDR big, but I'm hoping for GTAV big.

Any reason for that line of thinking or 'just cause'? I can't see how it'll miss 2014 when it's coming in February, it was one of the first PS4 games shown.

Just that we really haven't seen much of the actual game play I guess. Thought we would have seen more by this stage (6 months from release). Guess we'll find out more this weekend.

They were pretty tight-lipped about that. But Empire City and New Marais were quite small compared to most open-world games. So, I'm thinking this won't come near to RDR, let alone GTAV. The chunk of the map that I saw was a corner of one island, and a seemingly significant chunk of another - and I'm guessing the wooded area will be it's own district. They usually do three, right?

So all I can say for now is - larger than New Marais, but smaller than GTAV's world.

Oh, and they are making efforts to have larger, taller buildings. So if you take verticality into account, this is much more massive than Inf1 and 2.

Did they talk about pop-in? Some of the videos I've seen have shown a lot of agressive pop-in.

Maybe they are taking the Rockstar approach? We've already seen more of Second Son than we would have seen from a Rockstar game at this point......

If I had any concerns about an Infamous game, it would be the size of the world map. I hope this one turns out bigger and better.

Did they show you the new neon powers in action? I'm assuming they didn't since Greg didn't mention anything about it yet.

I didn't ask. Perhaps because I didn't see any? Then again, I have a bad eye for things like that lol. I would try tweeting Greg Miller, Mitch Dyer, Maxwell McGee, Michael McWhertor or Jason Schreier and ask if they saw anything.

My fanboy eyes could see no wrong lol

Did they mention anything about how crowded the streets will be?

They accidentally showed us one neon power. It looked like a fast-travel power similar to the smoke dash we've seen so many times, but... different. They didn't finish it. :(

All I can say is that the aesthetic difference between smoke and neon powers is very significant - Deslin with neon looks to be a completely different style.

Shame I couldn't see more of that!

There were quite a few cars - I saw around 10 on screen at the same time at one point. And there seems to be more variety in the car makes and colors now too. Phew!

Definitely more street activity than inF 1 and 2 regarding pedestrian activity though, based on the gameplay segments I was shown.

Different in what way? Can you describe what you saw?

It was brief, and was probably only half of the power. But when smoke powers are used, there is a lot of, well, smoke and fire. This was bright - purple, or blue I believe.

Definitely added variety to the visuals, that's for damn sure.

I can only imagine how pretty it will look. I can't wait to see more of this game! Hyped! :D

Thanks for answering my questions, dude.
