Another Infamous: Second Son screenshot (offscreen) [Up: More Images]

Every screenshot or video that gets released gets me more stoked about the game. I enjoyed Infamous 1 & 2 but never really like the protagonist. I always thought he looked generic and bland. I know a lot of people dislike the look of Deslin but I think it's a nice change. Plus, Troy Baker is doing the voice over work.

I believe I am in the minority of people, although there are indeed those of us out there, who absolutely truly enjoyed both Infamous games that were released on the PS3. I have seen all the comments, dead lifeless city, moral system was awful at best, etc., but I still really enjoyed the hell out of them.

As such, I am incredibly sincere when I say this is easily my most anticipated game of the next gen. By a huge margin as well. These screens just solidify my anticipation that much more.

Damn I cannot wait.

You're not alone. I love both infamous games. I just love infamous 1 more then 2. I like it for the gameplay in general. I don't care for the moral system as much. It's just a gauge to determine what type of powers you would get.

Lifeless city I admit it is in 1 and 2, but when I play GTA I never really cared for pedestrians other then prostitutes.

inFamous being one of my most anticipated games... who could have ever predicted this

Definitely my most anticipated PS4 launch window title. Sad it isn't a launch game, would've considered getting a PS4 at launch then.

I'm all over this game and I can't wait for it to come out even though I've never played inFamous, but I also can't wait for Super Smash and Mario Kart to come out and it is true, diminishing returns, for most people. Most of my friends who game every now and then don't notice all the particle effects and reflections and impressive shaders. They didn't see a big difference between Sleeping Dogs and GTA IV. They just want to play games and don't notice the differences as much. I'm stoked to see night time gameplay with rain, but for many it won't have the same impact.

Edit : Naming SSB and Mario Kart is because they're not as technically impressive, but gameplay wise it's top notch and that's why I'm more eager to try SSB than any other game shown so far. I'm glad this and TitanFall seem to have nice gameplay innovations too, the mixing/combining of elements/powers is something I built a game design document around a little while ago and it has me interested, A LOT. TitanFall seems to bring much new stuff to online FPS multiplayer on consoles, like I loved IW doing with COD2 and 4. At the same time, you have stuff that's announced with gameplay that looks really lacking.

Yeah I'm looking forward to Kart and Smash ect. too. My comment was more a jab at the people who think the next gen won't be a significant leap. And the excuses fanboys use to justify their console of choice. Sure the average person playing may not call out the graphical difference at first, but that doesn't mean the graphical leap is any less significant.

If we're talking diminishing returns in the area of game design, I'd say it's more of a problem of the state of the industry than it is of limits of technology.

They're probably right.

Eventually? Sure. Probably not this generation though.

Yeah, I am very excited for Sucker Punch. :D

I actually have a hell of a lot of faith it will turn out looking that good, because inFamous 2 was a technically astounding game, to be honest.

Enjoyed the first, second one not so much. Of the exclusive launch window titles on both systems this is the game that I want the most, it looks incredible.

Same here. I enjoyed both too even Festival of Blood. Although city really seemed dead but despite that both games were fun. And Infamous: SS is totally a different beast. Can't wait to play it.

So hyped. I went back and played some more inFamous 2 last night just to experience that world again. Such fun games to play.

oh yea just saw the video. The puddle drying up looked similar to the Cry Engine GPGPU footage from gamescom
game looks great! Such a massive leap over infamous 2!

You are not alone. Those two games are 2 of my favorite game of this generation

I actually like what I've seen 'till now of Deslin, yet sometimes, depending on the lightning, I believe, he gave me the nagging sensation of a 40something that dress and act like if he was in is 20s....

I'm with you on this. I really enjoyed both 1 & 2 and it was one of the my favourite new IP's from this gen which is also why Second Son is one of my most anticipated games of next year. Especially considering it is a launch window game.

Me too. When I saw the inFamous logo at the end of the reveal trailer in February I immediatelly told myself, 'The day this game launches, I'm buying a PS4' and I'm very happy that it looks like I'll be able to stick to the promise without any regrets.

Killzone got me considering a day 1 purchase, this guaranteed it.

I'm not a fan FPS games but if I was I would be buying PS4 day one as well.Killzone looks amazing and to think it's only a launch game...I can't wait to see what the second GG team is doing!

I honestly could care less about the smoke abilities, but all the night time footage with the neon signs, lights, and the foggy atmosphere is just too much!

Seriously this game is a beast!

Unless the game is only 4 hours long, it will be the game to make Xbox only gamers jealous. (Full disclosure I'm getting an Xbox and ps4).

Well if that's the only criteria, might as well assume jealousy then. I highly doubt the game can be done in 4 hours without a speed run. Even the first two games were quite a bit longer.

The crazy thing is that everyone says this game looks bettter in person than any screenshot of trailer. One of the people that went to PAX said that the demonstration they had there was running at 60 FPS majority of the time. So I don't even think we have seen the best this game has to offer yet, and they still have 5 months or so of dev time!

Any videos of the RF:G level destruction? I find it hard to believe.
So far we've seen that he can take down stuff like DUP barricades, bridges, and watch towers, and at the end of the E3 demo he destroys the dinosaur monument. I'm not sure if you can demolish entire concrete buildings though.

Its not good to get your hopes up for 60fps. The game is still in dev so they could just be slowly adding more and more eyecandy until its a solid 30fps. I'm fine either way though.

It's a Open-World Action-Adventure game. Of course, the game is gonna be 30fps.

VG247 posted a new article, it doesn't contain much new info but they do touch a little on the destruction

We’re absolutely looking to let people create total havoc and we want to let people walk on the wild side, but also we don’t want to let people level the city to a flat parking lot because that’s not fun,” Fox warns.
For this reason, Fox openly admits that there are times when game-world rules have to be bent or broken in order to ensure the experience remains enjoyable, even at the expense of consistency.

“For instance, we don’t want to level a certain building, even if it might be a very rickety looking building, if levelling it means there’s nothing to climb on or no cover to hide behind,” Fox explained, and added, “In general though, our contract with the player is if they think they should be able to do something we try to let them do it, so anything you think you can climb on we let you climb on, so that we maintain trust, and if something seems to you that you should be able to destroy it we try to let you destroy it.”

So, it does sound like we're going to see a much higher level of destruction than we've seen in the series before. But it seem like it'll be RF level since they need to keep a lot of the buildings intact to make the world interest.
