One of the counts was "aggravated assault causing a fracture" against the 27-year-old victim on July 21.

Neighbors heard a fight and called police, who showed up at the residence. Police Sgt. Trent Crump said Dwyer hid in the bathroom until police left. The next day, Crump said Dwyer snatched the woman's cellphone and threw it from the second floor of their home to prevent her from calling police about another dispute.

The woman came forward last week, providing police with information about her injuries and text messages that indicated Dwyer "was going to harm himself because of what had been going on," police said.

One of the few who got it.

You don't hear any shit about LeBron James either.

Don't see how you could not have it set in when it's been the most intense and postseason-relevant rivalry in the league for the past 2 seasons. Obviously that's not a long time, but two of the best teams in the league in the same division is always going to be a big deal.

2 years goes by in an instant. But it doesn't help that I live in Charlotte and I neither have nor want DirecTV, so I rarely get to see the 49ers play, be that against the Seahawks or otherwise. Most of my Niner fandom has to be satiated by highlights and articles, which isn't enough to feed into new divisional rivalries.

The team I hate most at the moment, therefore, is the Panthers. Opening week, Carolina is playing at Tampa. Two east coast teams. For some idiotic reason. they played at 4... same time as the Niners and Cowboys. Both were Fox games, which means the better game was pre-empted locally. The Panthers, more often than not, get in the way of not only 49er games, but many other good matchups that we might otherwise be able to see. If not for local civic pride, I'd love to see the team move to LA or Australia or some other distant locale.

What does money have to do with how someone acts? Maybe I'm missing something.
The detail available in California crime statistics, as provided by the state Criminal Justice Statistics Center (2008) in a special data run, provide new opportunities for analysis of arrests by age, race/ethnicity, and offense type and homicide risk. The findings of this preliminary analysis suggest that high arrest and homicide rates found among California's young age groups, and also among Hispanics and African Americans into late middle age, are due much less to age or race per se than to high poverty rates adhering to age and race. Poverty level also is strongly linked to higher arrest and murder rates among older age groups.

The evidence for the hypothesis that poverty, not age, best explains arrest and homicide rates is consistent across different measures. First, direct cross-tabulations of arrest and homicide rates by age group and poverty level reveal that where the sociodemographics of adults in their 30s , 40s, and 50s are similar to those of young people, middle and older adult ages also suffer sharply elevated rates of murder and arrest as well. California's patterns indicate that a population aged 35-44 or 45-54 whose characteristics were 51% male, 7% black, 43% Hispanic, and 16% in poverty, the typical characteristics of 15-24 year-olds-would display homicide mortality and violence and felony arrest rates much closer to those of 15-24 year-olds. Second, bivariate regression indicates that poverty level is associated with around 4 times more of the variance in arrest and homicide rates than is age.

Side note: From this day forward, the Arizona Cardinals will be referred to as the Arizona Steelers Sloppy Seconds.

It's truly ridiculous how many of our players make our way to their team Lol
We 2-0 bruh!!! Sloppy seconds tasting delicious right about now!!
On a more serious note wtf is going on

The person that seems to be getting a free pass is DeMaurice Smith. To my knowledge he hasn't said a word about the whole domestic violence situation in which the players he represents are causing. He will be the first person defending the player and his right to play. If Goodell is forced to resign then Smith shouldn't be far behind.

you know Silver praying nobody in the NBA gets popped right now. they looking gold by comparison.

they probably have everyone on lockdown

million dollar bonuses to everyone who doesn't get caught with some dumb shit, gets bumped to 5 million if no one gets in trouble

When it rains, it pours. This is getting crazy now! I do like the new decision to send them home/deactivate them until the issue gets resolved, but I don't like that they're getting paid for it.

The general public includes people that have little or no money, and live in impoverished neighborhoods. Find the rate of arrest for people making money within the NFL salary range and I doubt it would be greater. Having lots of money reduces the likelyhood that you commit crimes that will lead to your arrest or being jailed.

They would be if they go to jail. The NFL is in a bad spot now because their policy is inconsistent, when the answer is that they shouldn't have one because they are not a court.
I'm not going to bother, because you'll just move the goalposts again to fit the narrative you're trying to push. Why not just come out and say what you really want to say and call NFL players thugs?

NFL players have way better lawyers and way more money than the general public.

"I'll go with misleading stats for 500 Alex"

Having better lawyers doesn't prevent you from being arrested, Alex.

The NFL has so many of these cases going on now, who can even keep track of them all... another one:

This is the second domestic violence case involving a Cardinals player. Inside linebacker Daryl Washington pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend and is serving a year of supervised probation. Washington has not yet been penalized by the NFL for the offense but is suspended for this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

If Daryl Washington plead guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend, why hasn't he been penalized by the NFL for it? Shouldn't he get 6 games (under the new domestic violence policy) tacked on to his season-long suspension for violating the substance abuse policy?

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife and broke her nose after she refused his sexual advances, and punched her in the face the next day, police said Thursday.

In the first encounter, police say Dwyer attempted to kiss and undress his wife, but she refused. Someone who heard the argument reported the assault to police, who showed up at the apartment but did not make an arrest. Dwyer hid in a bathroom and the wife denied he was in the home because the running back threatened to kill himself in front of her and their child if she told police about the assault, police said.

The next day, Dwyer punched his wife with a closed fist on the left side of her face, according to police. He also punched walls and threw a shoe at his son, listed as 17 months old, who was not injured.

As his wife tried to call police, Dwyer grabbed her cellphone and threw it down from the home's second story. Witnesses told police that Dwyer's wife said, "I'm calling the police" as she held her swollen face and clutched her son.

What the hell?

Well, at least those 3 new female executives the NFL hired to deal with these cases won't have to worry about job security.

Sunday ticket free trial for week 1 was that week too. Watched that game myself here in RDU.

Very mature. I see you didn't take any lessons away from that other thread. Just going to keep on with the same behavior.

You're both bitter, and it's rather amusing.

Guys c'mon now. You can say I'm bitter and that's fine but calling me out (instead of messaging me via PM) and derailing to gloat and insult me about how you perceive I felt about a situation in another thread is no better. So I could (or couldn't) be bitter, but honestly I sense that you guys are in whatever boat you claim I'm in. (Whether that's immature, petty, bitter, or obsessive I don't know) Seeing the way you respond to my innocuous post tells me as much. I didn't call any of you bitter or insult you in the other thread, nor did I here. But yes, I am the immature bitter one. Not you guys.

Now on to the topic:

Now that more info has come in, it seems this guys is insane. If all this is true, he won't be missed.

So it's okay for you to drag shit from that other thread in here, but we can't call you out on it. Got ya.

Yes, you are the immature one, because you're the only one posting immature things at the moment in an obvious attempt to belittle other peoples opinions. Then you try and switch the subject to me not taking this to PM. Pointing out your immaturity doesn't mean I'm immature. That's completely illogical. It's like saying parents are immature for pointing out when their children are acting out. You didn't take your little immature jab to PM to call out individual people, you said it out in the open where anyone could read it, yet now, you want some kind of personal courtesy of discussing the matter in private when you were the one coming in mocking people out in the open in the first place.

If you wouldn't have come out of the gates with yet another snarky unneeded comment then no one would have anything to point out or derail the thread on. Don't blame us for calling out your shitposting. Blame yourself for shitposting in the first place.

You can do whatever you want. But I'm going to mention if its a tad hypocritical. Throwing shit at shit is not somehow making the place smell better.

Please stop with the derail. The only people who care about what I posted are people who feel hurt or insulted ... I didn't mention any names or insult anyone. My post was perfectly innocuous whether sarcastic or not. If you want to continue this conversation please do so via PM, just like the other posters who may have had issue with my posts.

Bullshit and you know it. The only way people get away with this type of behavior is by generalizing it, because you know if you're not personally insulting individual posters you won't get in trouble for it. Because you can hide behind the "I wasn't insulting anyone directly." excuse.

You know exactly what you're mocking and why. Don't insult my intelligence with this nonsense. I'll take it to PM when you start taking these personal jabs to people via PM, instead of making shitty baseless generalizations with a shitty attitude.

There was never a personal jab and I think you should realize that. I think you need to calm down. I have no idea how my initial post has gotten you into such a rage. I have sent a PM. Hopefully we can continue our conversation there.

There's probably been issues like this in the NFl daily, they are just looking for stuff to pick on now.

Well that's certainly reassuring!
If there was a sudden rise in domestic violence within the league, that would be worrying. But if it's been a constant problem throughout the history of the NFL, at least nothing has changed!!

Bringing more exposure to these types of things, to get it into the minds of more people, to see change happen because of more awareness is never a bad thing. They can "pick on" this stuff all day if it means more good comes from the bad that happens.

Except the Media is going to spin it as the sport being the cause, leading to inevitable touch football.

As long as the NBA is predominantly black there will always be suckas calling it a thug league.

Not making any comments about what you are saying because I believe you are right but I'm also going to just leave this right here as it's clear the NBA is no great haven of righteousness:

On a per-100,000 basis:

All arrests (2014)
NBA.....2148
NFL.....1974
MLB......398
NHL......205

Domestic-violence arrests
NBA.....412.5
NFL.....241.0
MLB......42.7
NHL......37.9

Let's not rush to judgment and wait till all the facts come in. There's two sides to a story and the truth is somewhere in between. Plus we don't know what happened before the police showed up.

If there are no elevator video tapes, you must acquit. The children, wives, and girlfriends of NFL players are going to have to take refuge in casinos.
