Another Scalper scumbag Story!

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
Just flat out ridiculous. The sad part is these jerks will make a fortune on them. I guess the biggest problem is how these jerks obtained these systems.

These scalpers use program bots to lock out regular people and buy up all the stock. Many times people have the items in their cart and the bot will come along and "steal" it right out of their cart before they can complete their order. I wish people would stop supporting this bullshit but sadly they won't.

I wish i was a scalper mutha fuckas making a killing

can't blame them when idiots are willing to pay hundreds more than the items worth

Fuck scalpers. But the truth is they wouldn't exist if people werent dumb enough to buy their overpriced products.

Twats.

Every time I stock check it's always EBay or some other shady resellers showing up for like ÂŁ900.

I really hope people can hold off and not give these cunts the satisfaction.

Yup that's exactly what happened with my ps5 preorders. I'd get them in the carts but could never check out.

they're not necessarily idiots. some people just have a fuck ton of money and are willing to pay a premium for the convenience

Fucking leeches, if I would be next president I would tax those shitheads into oblivion, sending SWAT teams and that sort of thing. It bothers me a lot clearly.

Is it really that hard to make a system that makes sense?

You know the console is highly coveted. Just sell to registered accounts only, 1 unit per account, behind a captcha.
At least for the first month. Companies would not be losing money.

These large retail chains don't care. Money is money.

Then these executive's stock portfolios in PayPal and eBay grin even more on said return there.

;)

Then those executive fucks are horribly short sighted. More consoles sold to different people = more subscriptions, more accessories and most important, more game sold!

Sorry, but I disagree.

I purchased my RTX 3080, PS5, and Xbox Series X via eBay from a "scalper."

I'd do it again in a second.

The extra money I spent is well worth not having to deal with the hassle of trying to find the product and fight other buyers to buy one.

That is the other side of the coin. The Retailers gives 2 fucks because they already have their sale. It does not matter to them where the money comes from.

Scalp the scalpers see how they like it.

THIS.

There was a twitter post where someone bought a stack of like 50 consoles and bragged more was on the way.

Imagine if people just refused to buy the fucking things, that cunt will be sitting with 50 consoles and would have wasted thousands of dollars.
I see PS5's here in NZ going for $3000 and people are still bidding on the auctions to purchase. Just fucking insane. You could get a near top of the line gaming PC for that kind of money.

GameStop supposedly had PS5s in stock about 30 minutes ago, but I wonder if any single human being actually managed to get it added to their cart and ordered.

This system just does not work; these online bot scalpers now have a total monopoly on supply and it is why we need physical stores to stock this stuff.

3500 units is like a whopping 2 million upfront... manage that many orders with the complexity associated with it (credit card limits, etc) is almost unimaginable.

If theres any truth in those 3,5k number, its more likely a retailler/distributor working togheter with scalpers for a share of the profit.

That's the biggest issue right now. No human can get one because there is zero stock in stores. Supposedly because of Covid but I can go right now at Costco or Walmart and buy a cart full of random stuff with hundreds of people around me.

You can only catch covid if you touch a PS5 apparently.

It's pretty amazing that almost $12 million in sales has already been sold on StockX... And this is just the disc version, with US plug. I didn't look at all the other variants.

Was lucky enough to get a Gamestop bundle for 759 (Demons Souls + Spiderman, 2 controllers, and a useless webcam) just an hour ago. But you're correct, scalpers suck.

I was just going to say this is more than likely the resellers that sell to Target/Gamestop/Small business/etc

I know because here in Sacramento the few local gamestore's that had one all bought from the same guy who was on offerup selling consoles for 850 and he had hundreds of them. Sony really should do the Apple approach and have retailers buy directly from them to avoid a lot of this nonsense.

Getting actual customers buying the consoles is better for retailers because they have a chance of up selling to them with bundles and games and accessories. Same with GPUs since a nonzero amount of customers will also want to purchase other components too.

Well, the reason it's like that is because of "scalpers."

I almost did this and got a bundle form Antonline where it was cheaper than buying from a scalper. I ended up getting a bundle for 650 that had a pulse headset, 2 extra controllers and a year of PSN+ granted it still cost me 660 dollars but that was way better than paying 800 bucks for a scalper for a console they had no intention of paying for.

And this is why the scalpers exists, these kind of dudes help them to continue with the disgusting practice of scalping

I agree, yet they're not trying hard enough in that department.

Holy shit. I sat there for an hour refreshing and clicking add but it didn't even go into my cart. What a shitshow.

tempted but with my luck theres somethin wrong with it

probably crashed several times on previous owner
I'd be concerned about the same thing too. I've been randomly looking throughout the day for shadow drops. Just checked again and Best Buy still has the open box option available. I'm wondering how many people are returning consoles now.

Yeah. In Sweden, the PS5 is $700 and the scalpers are easily getting double that right now on auctions. There are tons of them.

Did I mention I didn't manage to get a pre-order? If I'm pissed off and bitter? 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

The vast majority of scalpers are "new" to the game. They have no idea what's coming and it's hilarious. Just a few short years ago, there weren't any bot programs like there is today. So it'll be even more hilarious reading all the complaints from the scalpers to and fro. Back then, years ago, is when a person could make some real money. Selling things out the back of a van in a Toys R Us or flea market. Cash only. Sell your shit and gtfo dodge. First rule of thumb when trying to make an obscene profit on limited and expensive retail goods goods is never do it online or where your ass can be traced. Nowadays it's tough, yes, but there are alternatives.

Now the reality check for these filthy scalpers. Ebay fees. In browsing Ebay at some of them, the vast majority of these Sellers seem to be "new" to Ebay or even Amazon. More than likely these "Sellers" think it's free money that they make on Ebay and Amazon. It's not. Ebay 'et all are the ones making the real money. So is Paypal through Paypal fees like transfer fees, etc. More than likely these scalpers spent the vast majority of their earns already on shopping sprees all happy as a clam and unbeknownst to them, the dreaded Ebay monthly fee tally comes in.

Just about now or very soon, they'll be getting the first taste of the noobism they have wrought, they're greed. In the form of Ebay's lovely embrace, the Account Summary shall descend under the Seller Account account options when they log in and wonder why the hell they'll have to pay Ebay thousands of dollars. Here is where the intellectually inferior high-on quick cash scalper filth will come to an stark realization. They done fucked up. And there's also someone called Mr. IRS looming around the corner. When you sell a certain amount on Ebay, it get's reported to the IRS. This means, that sweet sweet easy money left over from Ebay and Paypal fees get's further reduced because you have to pay something called taxes. Merry Christmas you filthy animals.

I sat there refreshing and clicking for:

~10 mins (clicking add to cart)
~20 mins (clicking checkout)
~20 mins (clicking process order)

Still trying to get either a 3080/3090 RTX.

That was the one I tried to get... I clicked on "add to cart", it said "wait a few minutes", I reloaded, then it just became unavailable.

Did it work at first "add to cart" click and you were able to finish the transaction? I just want to know for next time.

This is true, they're going to be giving eBay/Amazon 10-15% of the price, which right now comes out to over $100 on a $900 console they paid $500 + tip for. Also, but at some point, Sony will get plenty of inventory, and all the people who haven't sold their consoles yet will be left holding the bag. I suspect this will come sooner rather than later, this isn't going to be a Wii situation.

Thing is, all the fees add up and they add up quick. Not many websites nor social media has talked about this fact. It's not all easy free money selling things online. Without being a total dick, yes i do feel kinda sorry for some of scalper Sellers not knowing what's in store. It's like a horrible storm noone can see but when it hits, you feel it. But they'll (Sellers) learn the hard way. And I think it'll be for the better next year and beyond after that. Ebay is ok to sell things now and then. Have to space your inventory to sell. Do it an random times. Watch your numbers. Stay under a certain amount in sales. Be cautious. Don't get labeled as a "business" by showcasing 150 PSV's/XB Series X, NIKE shoes stacks and don't call yourself a business if it's only you selling and managing things. Never brag about inventory.

Just a thought but If i had 25 PSV's (or whatever) up for sale right now on Ebay, I'd take the vast majority of them down right now. Do some math to make sure I stay under a certain amount in sales. Reduce the asking price considerably. Only put a few items up. Don't do auction based. Only do Buy it Now. Auctions take too long. Anyway, yeah they'll be plenty of PSV's available soon when the scalpers get their first bill.

I didn't wait a few minutes, as soon as it told me to wait. I refreshed the page immediately and clicked add to cart again. (Atleast over 50 refreshes)
