Anthem Downgrade

This is silly. As an average, everyday consumer, I could care less what it takes to make a game. Likewise, I don't care how hard it was to build my house or how much effort was sunk into the R&D of my car. They're producing a product, just like so many other industries, and if the product doesn't match with my expectations, as the consumer, or win me over in some other way, then they don't get my money. That's the extent of my relationship with these companies.
I agree with you, and never said people should go out and buy something they don't think lived up to the initial pitch/showing. What I'm saying is, to blame a developer for purposefully "deceiving" you is silly. Too much hyperbole on the internet these days. What I said wasn't even unreasonable, dude.

Nearly every company has over hyped their products and videogames are no different. I knew right away that what I was seeing in that presentation was enchanced for show. No console could run something like that nor could most PCs. As a consumer you have to try too not be so naive if you want to not be fooled by companies that want your cash. Later I played and liked what I saw in the demo so I preorded it because I wanted it ASAP. But I don't really need an excuse on how I spend my money.

Sorry if I misunderstood.

However, I can't help but feel like big developers/publishers (EA, Ubisoft, WB, etc.) know exactly what they're doing when they throw up media that is most likely not going to be representative of the final product. Especially if they do like they did in this case, which is flat out state that it was running "in-game and in real-time." If this was an indie, I'd probably be a lot less likely to shift straight into full-blown cynic mode.

Hate to break it to you, you're hardly George Carlin. That was simply not funny.
Humor is subjective and I'm not here to make you laugh homie

No problem at all, I didn't mean to antagonize. I also agree that it's a little shitty to mislead with videos of an incomplete product, but we're all enthusiasts here, so it should suck a lot less for us, knowing what we know about how these things pan out. I'm not about to drop examples, but time and time again we see clips of shit that comes out not looking as good. It's because they made that clip to get people interested. It's definitely a crappy practice, but it's not "downgrading", and that's what bothers me about the discourse on message boards and YouTube videos/comments.

One could say these YouTube dudes are almost misleading people, too, by posting comparison shit without acknowledging that the game wasn't complete when they first showed it. Dudes just want those views and people play right into it.

Y'all live in a perfect world or something ? Y'all believe everything you see. Also why the hard on when it comes to visuals ? I still play super Mario n64 and that game has amazing graphics. Maybe I'm old school or maybe y'all just get triggered easily

You're not wrong. :)

Oy people it is possible for us to criticize something without hating on it, it really is.

I hope Anthem is everything people want it to be and more, and I've heard good things from the demo, but what they did at the reveal was deceptive, it said the trailer real time gameplay pre alpha footage, again their words not mine...

I think the graphics look pretty good for the scale their reaching for, but nowhere as good as the reveal...that's all lol

Does anyone know if anthem pre load is gunna happen today but you can play the 10 hours trail from tomorrow with ea access!?

Pre-load started yesterday at 1pm ET on PC. I presume it's the same on Xbox.

Not sure about the actual release time. My client is reading tonight at 5pm ET, but officially, yes, it's tomorrow w/ EA Access Basic or Premier.

I actually think the game looks stunning, didn't even register a downgrade until the comparison... then it is night and day.

That said, it still looks really good, especially on PC, so not too much of an issue.

If it looked bad in it's current state I'd have more of an issue with it, but it doesn't.

You know the hardware's limitations and you know how your game will end up looking but you troll everybody by saying it looks and runs THAT (E3 Reveal) GOOD (next gen PC-like) on A CONSOLE.
Fuck off.
There's enough shallowness and fakeness in the world already we don't need this shit.
Don't lie about how your game looks and play. It's that simple.

Whatever, just make sure you don't quit your day job for your stand-up career.
Lol you're legit so upset that you're derailing the thread to make comebacks. What's the point? Keep being an ass, but don't @ me

I have a friend who's pretty worried at the relatively low file size of the preload. Around 30gb I think.

My installation on PC is ~52GB.

I think you're projecting. I'm not upset at all, I was just confused about your derailing of the thread earlier, and then claiming it was "a joke" but not "there to be funny". Fine, whatever, I don't mind. You do what you think is best.

I don't get you. It was a demo. Not the full game. Can we not wait to fully hate on the game till full release. Why do we always have to get pre-angry 🤨

Well i'm counting down the hours until 9 PM PST so I can try it out with EA Access. Stoked to see how the full game looks/plays.

For me I'll be getting anthem. It's between that and the division 2, and the game beta for that was atrocious. Feels exactly like the division 1. Too be honest there's not many good games coming out during this time. Kh3 was aight but I beat it already and itching for a new game. So anthem will fill that void for now
