Any dead musician, who would you bring back?

I want to list all the deceased great composers but I'll just list one. Gustav Mahler.

If I could also bring back a vocalist I'd choose Luke Kelly. He had nowhere near the most refined voice but he sung with passion. He could be quite moving.

The large number of people saying Freddy Mercury seems a bit weird to me. I swear he's more famous now than when he died 25 years ago.

Anyway, I imagine he would've gone down the standards path that Rod Stewart did and become crazily boring.

Hendrix is my no. 1 by a mile.

Both Biggie and Pac had way more ahead of them.

Nirvana would have disolved soon anyway, but i'd love to hear some crazy Cobain solo stuff

I hate The Beatles, and I was never a fan of his solo work, but John Lennon was a beacon of peace and the world became shittier when he died.

I'm surprised not enough people have named someone like Beethoven or Mozart or Vivaldi.

Beethoven ear problems would not work properly with today's instruments since he never heard them.

Mozart and Vivaldi would probably have a heart atack after witnessing the future and the fact that everyone they loved are long past dead

Dimebag Darell
Cliff Burton
Jimi Hendrix
Randy Castillo

Jackson, Cobain, Mercury, Marley... all good choices for me on a personal level.

People tend to want to relive music(ians) that impacted them on some level in their life. On that note, I would probably want Kurt back. It's just where I was in my life when he died and the music he was putting out still really sticks, so I would love to see it continue.

Of course this has nothing to do with who I think would be great for society or music in general.

Chris Bell, also died at 27. Would have loved to see him be able to record more solo stuff, and maybe more stuff with Big Star. He was a phenomenal songwriter.

Tupac, who can do a Hit Em Up part 2 and tear everyone a new asshole

Though i much rather get the Pac back from 2Pacalypse Now days, when he sounded legit pissed

My pick would be Elvis Presley, not only because I love his music and voice, but I am sincerely interested in seeing how his career would have evolved through the 80s. I have a feeling he would have had a huge part of country music. This is all assuming that he didn't continue to have drug issues that would have hindered him.

Same here. It would have been neat to see what he did musically. He's really the only musician to really make me wonder, "what if..."

Only one?

Bring back Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky.

If it was a singer, if possible I'd bring Whitney Houston from the early 90s back. No other singer ever came close to her in that era.

Does nobody want to bring back a classical musician like Mozart or Beethoven? If Bill and Ted taught me anything, its that Beethoven would love to rock out on some mid-80s keyboard synths.

edit: Beaten by Frodo... also, I didn't read past the first page.

Michael Jackson, without a doubt.

I wonder what kind of an impact he could have on music if he successfully went through the 50 sold out concerts in the O2 arena and it would be the spectacle it was supposed to be. Basically show all the kids these days how a concert is supposed to be like.

Quite possibly there'd also be a new album release somewhere in 2010 that would sell like crazy.

In general though the potential of both MJ and Elvis without all the drugs in their lives would've been crazy to witness.
