Any Xbox Xpatriates returning home next year?

Already have an Xbox One, so see no reason to buy another when all the games released for it will be playable on the system I own.

But then I base purchase decisions for these things on games rather than arbitrary numbers, so what do I know?

I'm a one console sort of guy, so I'll just stick to the PlayStation brand like I've always done over the years. I've never cared about owning the most powerful console, I'm just there for the games.

No. The games are all coming to PC right?

I already have an xbox one though and never use it. I barely use my PS4 for that matter. I don't know that I will get a Neo or scorpio.

"I'm just here for the games"

Limits one's self to only one platform's games, missing out on tons of amazin games :-p

Just out of curiously, why would you upgrade to Neo then?

Depending on price, I'd do it just to have a newer system with warranty and such and God willing, a controller with better life in the battery. I could either sell the old or give it to my son. The graphics upgrade would just be icing on the cake.

Not enough damn time in the day for all these games. I've done the wii u, ps4, Xbox, PC thing and sadly I mostly just played battlefield and destiny. I ended up finding the experiences too similar tbh. I'm really hoping NX comes through though.

I had an Xbox and a 360, but I skipped the One. Now I see no point in one at all, especially since all of their stuff seems to be coming to PC now.

What for ?

More Power ? Show me the games.

Unlimited power. :)

Yeah, warranty is a huge one.

Well, keep in mind that the Scorpio will play all the Xbox One games, so there is still plenty that people have missed this gen if they skipped the One (ie. Sunset Overdrive, Halo MCC, Halo 5, a few Forzas, etc etc).

Microsoft is releasing all Xbox exclusives on PC going forward right? If that's the case I'll stick with PC and my new 1080. If I didn't have that or that's not the case is buy one.

After having all three systems last gen I bailed on XBox in 2013 and only went in with WiiU and PS4. Just jumped back in a few weeks back on a great XB1 sale strictly for Forza 6 and Horizons 2/3.

The games are fantastic, but my god the UI is terrible. Stutters everywhere, too many ways to accomplish tasks, PS4 light years ahead here. Hope the new Summer update fixes some of this, but comments in the preview thread are not encouraging :(

I buy my systems based on games. It's why I have an Xbox One. I'm a big Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon, Dead Rising, Killer Instinct, State of Decay, etc. fan.

If you're going "most powerful" for multiplats, then build a PC. Unless you like (American) Football. Then you have to go console.

Not everyone likes to play on PC.

In the "have a gaming PC, don't need a Scorpio" crew, just upgraded to a 1070 and Skylake solution. With Microsoft releasing basically every game of interest on PC at this point, I just don't see the need. Obviously there will be those who don't want to game on PC that will go for Scorpio, but I expect it to be too expensive to gain significant appeal. Also have a PS4 to cover the bases on most of the stuff that doesn't end up being released on PC, like some Japanese games and sports games.

If it's more than $399 not many people will buy. MS will still have to compete with the PS4 and PS4 NEO.

Well they'll have the Xbox 1 Slim to compete there. It will still be underpowered, but not a ton since the Neo apparently isn't going to be all that big of a bump in power.

It will probably be in the $250ish range by the time Scorpio is out to appeal to the more price conscious folk. I'm guessing Scorpio will launch at $499.

Went from Xbox to Xbox 360 to ps4. I'm jumping the ps4 ship for an Xbox one s. My ps4 fan is simply too loud. I have to avoid playing certain games at certain times because of it.

I buy my systems based on games.

This is "/thread" worthy. I 100% agree.

I had an Xbox 360 for multiplats, and a PS3 for fighting games. Sony really picked up the pace towards the ends of the gen and put out some amazing exclusives, so my 360 became less relevant as time went on. The nail in the 360's coffin came when I finally splurged for a gaming PC. In any case, I ended up selling both my PS3 and 360 at the end of the generation.

Unless Scorpio has amazing exclusive games, I'll stick with my gaming PC, PS4 for some multiplats and Sony exclusives, and of course whatever Nintendo console is out there.

The least expensive Xbox 1 S is $299. While $499 isn't an insane guess, I still think Scorpio will be $399.

Clean it. My launch PS4 is super-loud but a 2nd one I got for Black Friday last year is super-quiet.

I've already opened it up and it was surprisingly clean, but I gave it a dusting anyways. I haven't messed with the thermal paste yet. Still loud as hell.

It was whisper quiet for some time, but after playing more taxing games it started getting worse and worse.

Yeah, I'm waaaay more likely to get a Scorpio than that piss-weak Neo. If only because I'd love to play Forza with my family and friends under the same roof, and if I can buy one copy of Forza to play on both my Xbox and my PC, all the better.

I'll probably just continue to stick with PC, though. Sony would have probably gotten me onboard with the Neo if I wasn't facing down the prospect of a 2016 mid-gen refresh that's still so significantly weaker than the PC I've had for over a year and a half now. I mean I just cannot get over that CPU, it's downright pathetic. God knows that Sony and their first parties are masters at sidestepping limitations, and boy, I'd fucking hope so, with a CPU like that.

Scorpio will be at least $600 bucks right?

Doubtful. The equivalent AMD card(the 480) just released and retail computers with it inside(which are notoriously marked up) cost around $850 with a better CPU than the Xbox One and more RAM, OS included. You could build a PC with it for $600 with more ram and OS included.

I'd be shocked if the xbox scorpio costs $500 by the time it releases.

I'll get a Neo this year because I want to play Battlefield One on the best console I can. It really depends on the price of Scorpio. $399 I'm in...$499 is pushing it...anything over that and I'm out.

Why would I buy an Xbox ever? I have a gaming PC - I can play all of its games on there if I want to.

This. I see no reason to purchase another Microsoft console if they're going to release (almost) all of their games on PC.

OP, I did the same thing as you. Mainly gamed on Xbox over PlayStation for the last two generations. But now I prefer PS4 for the same reasons I preferred Xbox before: better visuals, more of my fiends are on it, better experience overall.

When Neo comes out, I'll pick one up as a second PS4, I just picked up a GeForce 1070 and will go PC for the rest.

Not necessarily an Xpatriot (lol) but yeah I'm buying it. I'm of the belief that Play Anywhere applies to everything but mainline Halo. And Halo is what I want, not to mention even if it does go to PC given the nature of the game competitive play wouldn't be cross platform and the majority of the player base would be on Xbox One.

I think 499.99 is very likely but as I see it I rather pay the extra 100 dollars and get a real CPU and 4-8 more gigs of ram. Sure MS could make a 399.99 Scorpio but that would likely have a Puma CPU which IMO would ruin the device like the NEO.

Scorpio will be at least $600 bucks right?

It sounds like Scorpio will be really expensive for a console so no. I am planning on buying an Xbox One, and Neo is a possibility if it's not too much.

I think it's impossible to predict the pricing of a piece of technology that is almost a year and a half away. Didn't the PS4 go to 8GB at the eleventh hour due to ram prices dropping?

Yeah...I don't see Scorpio being $600...I think $500 is more likely. Also, recently, and excuse me because I cannot remember the source, it was revealed that a trade-in program for XB1 owners wanting to upgrade to Scorpio, will be offered by MS. Of course the inevitable trade-in offers by retailers like GameStop will be offered as well. So, for the current XB1 owner, I see the Scorpio probably running them about $400.

Scorpio will be at least $600 bucks right?

I highly doubt that. I really don't believe a lot of people will buy it. Let's not forget that 6tflops sounds beastly right now, but will it still late next year? Sure it will most likely be the most powerful console then, but no way they are going to ask 600 for it.

Nope, I'm done with the Xbox brand I think. I owned a 360 and original Xbox but the Xbox One's exclusives I'm interested in will all be on PC, and I already play my western multiplats on that anyway. PS4 for Japanese games and exclusives.

Technically you're not done with the Xbox brand. Any Microsoft published game that you buy on PC will be supporting that Xbox brand.

That's kind of the genius in all this; people who think they are somehow "sticking it to Microsoft" by buying their games on PC are actually doing precisely what Microsoft wants. I'm debating on whether to forego Scorpio and build a gaming PC myself to take advantage of Play Anywhere.

Probably not. I'm locked into the PlayStation due my existing library and digital purchases. In addition, paying for two online subscriptions is a big mental hurdle for me to get over, and an Xbox without having an Xbox Live subscription is a gimped product. I have typically owed every console, but this aversion to buying two subscriptions looks to put an end to that.

Another sticky factor for PlayStation is VR. By the time Scorpio comes out, I'll already own the PSVR. To jump to Scorpio for VR at that time would require me to not only buy the console, but a new VR headset too. The better option would be to buy the Neo. While less powerful than the Scorpio, it would also be the much cheaper solution to improve performance. On the other hand if I wanted to chase the absolute best performance I'd jump to PCs. The Scorpio would be a dead end middle ground to dump money into.

I'm getting a neo and a capable pc (if my wife allows it).

Also, while i owned a 360 last gen and didn't buy an x1, i don't feel like an xpatriate away from home.

I already play multiplayer on Xbox because Sony ranks numero 4 behind Xbox, PC, Nintendo. I was exclusively Nintendo/PC during the PlayStation 1-2 days so I have zero fondness or nostalgia for the company. And I will never not hate the DS controller. Gears of War on the 360 got me back into console gaming.

I started this gen on PS4 due to the disastrous xbone launch, but I've already moved back to Xbox. Just so much more comfortable in their ecosystem. Xbox controller and Xbox live are just too good for me to have PlayStation as my main console. Excited for Scorpio of course.

I will probably sell my Xbox one and get Scorpio. I will always keep my Xbox 360, I have way too many xbox 360 games.

I don't really think of it as sticking it to MS, just that I have no real reason to buy an Xbox One since I already have a good gaming PC that will run the games better than the Scorpio would. I would've bought the console if it had actual exclusives I wanted like 360 did.
