Anyone double dipping for Destiny 2?

Loved the way Destiny 1 evolved based on community feedback, so I definitely don't mind buying the PS4 and PC versions to play with friends on both sides of the spectrum.

I'll buy a copy on PS4 when the game gets a cheap sale with all dlc included, probably in a couple of years from now.
I played the beta and to me it seemed the exact same game as the first one.

No cross-save, no double-dip. I've managed to sway enough people to go PC for the game not to feel like I'm missing anyone from my friends, especially when PC performance is so far ahead of consoles.

How would they play together using the same copy of the game?

People other than the license-holder can play downloaded digital titles on the console designated as "primary", but only the license-holder can play the game on other consoles. Only one console can be designated as primary.

Who needs more than one copy? Especially when saves aren't cross compatible. Gifting a copy isn't double dipping, it's when you buy more than one for yourself.

May get it on PC. I don't know... was worn out on Destiny 1 before the expansions even came out. Tried the beta for 2 and seems more like of the same.

Yep. PS4 & PC. I hope the PC doesn't turn into a dumpster fire of hacking. Hopefully not but I've got PS4 if I need to bail out.

100%.

Going to main PS4 as most of my friends are on there.

My PC friends are excited to see what I've been raving about for 3 years so I'll be playing with them too.

Same here, having two sets of gaming buddies, one of which played and loved the PC beta, I've already preordered on both..

Part of me is extremely tempted to punch in an amazon preorder for ps4 then just sell it off when the PC version lands. The two-month gap fuckin sucks. But I don't want to lose all my stuff when I change platforms. The smart move is to just wait and enjoy it fresh on PC.

oof. At least there's the Dragonball beta to look forward to
not getting into
this month.

Why though, it's only one month not that long to wait, playing through the same content again leaving your other characters behind not worth it at all.

Why on earth would you post ITT about how you're not getting the game at all

Don't halfass that kind of shitposting please

Go into every OT and every thread about every game you're not buying and let us know, okay?

Tempted to buy on PS4 and then just sell it off when PC version is released.

I'm trying to tell myself I'm too busy with finishing up my studies and life in general, but I'm weak.

A little over a month and a half is a long time, and I know I'll miss out on that initial excitement phase. Then you know, what if PC has issues, my group falls apart/quits/bails. What if the sky falls.

Tempted because most friends are on Xbox (I'm getting the PS4 version) but I'm planning on Shadow of War and South Park.
I'll keep it in the back of my mind in case D2 gets content drought along they way.
Definitely double dipping if the Xbox1x ends up looking exactly like the PC version minus the 60fps.

Yes, but I'm not paying for either copy, so.. yeah :x

WoW clan mates hoarded enough gold to buy the guild copies on PC and my fiancee is buying it on PS4 :p

I might do.

I played the PC beta and really liked the feel of the game running at a higher frame rate.

However none of my friends play on PC and now I've gone from having the majority of my friends on PS4 to it being close to 50/50 with the Xbox One (or will be close to 50/50 when the Xbox One X is out) so I am not sure what platform to get it on.

It was much easier last gen as I never had a PC and all my friends had 360s.

Yup. I'll be playing Divinity Original Sin 2 while waiting for the PC version of D2

Between Divinity Original Sin 2 and the Warframe open world expansion speculated to be dropping right before Destiny 2, I don't even know if I'll be picking up Destiny 2 on PC at release date. Not to mention everything surrounding Destiny 2 in October/November.

I'm not supporting "double dipping" practices either. Stop encouraging this nonsense.

No need to double dip. I’ll patiently wait for the PC version.

Imagine buying the PS4 version plus paying for ps plus just to play a Game I’ll be restarting in a months time? Lool no thanks.

Well, you can trade/sell the PS4 version and you'll get a few "free" PSPlus games to boot.
Not a no brainer, but also not bad value for many.

Probably not at the moment, all my friends are PS4 players and refuse to go PC.

I might pick it up the PC version at some point, but I think there might be teething issues at the start. Maybe a year down the line.

That’s a serious waste of money an ps plus games are crappy for one and also you lose access to them once you end your subscription. And I’m certainly not interested in starting a character building him up only to have to start again lol pointless endeavour.

It could be a waste of money but if you're excited for the game it may be worth it.

Not really the thread for PS plus debates, but the games are pretty good value, particulalry recently.

Can't disagree with starting a new character. The only way to justify it would be to stick with 1 class on
PS4 - and then create the others on PC to prevent too much progression loss. But a loss regardless.

Hey Gaf are you going to buy the exact same game with worse performance just to help a billionare company?
Yes I would because I get to:

1) Play the game almost 2 months early
2) Play the raid when absolutely nothing is known about it, not even a chance of bumping into a random spoiler. This is an experience you simply won't get if you dont play it immediately when it launches. Even if you try to avoid spoilers until PC launch, you WILL end up finding something about it if you are even a bit involved with the Destiny community.

3) Play with several of my friends from Destiny 1, a majority of whom are not switching over to PC for Destiny 2. And the few who are...are double dipping meaning until PC launch they'll be playing with me as well.

I'm in the exact same boat...

Me and a buddy of mine were waiting for PC. Then today rolls in and hype gets the best of him... I'm getting weak hands now. Damn it.

Difficult choice for me, I think that the console community may end up being bigger and longer lasting + that's where my friends play. On the other hand...60fps...

I totally would if it was possible to play the same characters on both machines, but I'm just going for the PC version. Its going to be tough waiting for it to release once the console versions are out though.

If I ever get a decent PC whilst 2 is still relevant maybe.
Probably just stick with PS4 though, double dipped with 1 on Xbox and never even played it on there. Game is way too grindy for me to reset myself and pretty much all my friends are on PS4, so no real incentive.

If companies figured out a way for gamers to be able to use their same online save/profile across different platformers, I would be willing to be there would be a lot more double dipping with AAA games

They've had it figured out - platform holders are the problem.

Yep. But not like you think.

I'm getting on Xbox One and PS4. Friends play on the former, exclusive content on the latter.

Oh and if you know me, you'll know I'm a Destiny addict. There's that too.

Well, I just went and bought it for PS4.

I'm thinking I'll pick Warlock class for PS4 since in Destiny 1 I played both Titan/Hunter. This'll help me decide what to do when the PC version comes out. I don't hate Titan class but just never really planned on going for it. I was always going to go Hunter but maybe if I enjoy the Warlock I'll go with that. Hey, I might even dip my toes into Titan too and see exactly what's changed.

Now I'll also get to play the exclusive strike. It's not exactly worth double dipping for on it's own but whatever. I will be able to play it while it's new. Now I don't need to worry about waiting 7 weeks for PC version and can experience the game at the same as everyone else. It sucks about lack of cross save and having to start over again but eh I guess I'm just using the PS4 version as a warm up. I'll settle into the game and figure everything out so that when PC comes out I'll hit the ground running. Come October 24th I'll ditch PS4 version and play mainly on PC.

i'll probably double dip. I can get the PS4 version with a nice trade-in deal, so I'll be doing that. If that deal wasn't possible I'd have only gone for the PC version.

Now i'll probably get both.
