Anyone else dangerously close to succumbing and picking up an Xbox One for Titanfall?

God no, despite the astronomical price of the machine + gold sub + Titanfall I already own a PC capable of running it better than the X1.

Dropping £500/$600 for a single title that is a multiplayer only FPS sounds like a bad idea any way you cut it.

I bought a Playstation 4 for Killzone and Resogun, the hype overcame my common sense.

So seriously, do what you want. If you think that an X1 with Titanfall for the price is worth it then buy it.

Nope, am not really into multiplayer games.

That said, I have a question for retail-gaf. Has there been an uptick in demand for the XBO since the beta?

Picked up an XBone a couple weeks ago first because I wanted one, but also because I knew Titanfall would be coming out soon. I wouldn't have bought one yet if it weren't for Titanfall.

I honestly don't know - I messaged a mod so he can decide if it's just me being paranoid...

Why not just message the mods first instead of making an accusation for all to see? You could be wrong, and if that's the case, you called out two people just for disagreeing with you.

EDIT: Beaten. No need to reply.

I'm getting it for pc for sure. Xbone is way down my list of upcoming purchases. Hopefully Quantum Break will come to PC, just as Alan Wake did. If I buy one at all, it'll be ~2 years from now.

upgrade my 580 to an 800 series gpu
120hz gsync monitor to compliment the plasma
WiiU

I like this site for early news, rumors and most of the civil conversations from people who are passionate about games. Im not a very active poster, more of a reader, and mostly signed up so i could have access to the search engine more than anything else.

My username is the same across all platforms. Xbox Live, PSN, Steam, Origin and Uplay. You can easily find all my games played/owned on those respective platforms with a quick search on each If you doubt my sincerity.

Probably should have been step one. If they aren't shills then it was just needlessly hostile. We're a decent bunch, we don't need to do witch hunts.

LOL @ a NeoGAF denizen saying the site isn't synonymous with "Witch Hunt".

I appreciate the sentiment, though.

As I said earlier - my fault - I took the wrong course of action and for that I am truly sorry.

For $500 I can get a better GPU/CPU for my PC and get better performance than an Xbone.

I think Microsoft made a big mistake by allowing this game to be released on other platforms.

It looks like a pretty standard shooter, except 6v6 instead of a regular number. If I suddenly feel compelled to buy it I'll just get it on 360. I'll never get why they put their big, system selling game on two other platforms.

My PS4 died twice on me then I saw the Titanfall beta, so when my PS4 comes back this time I am going to sell it and keep the Xbox One I picked up with the Target deal. Think I made a good choice as Titanfall is the most fun I have had on a game in a long long time!

I also can't believe not that awful sharpening filter has gone how much better the games look.

I have a 7970, so I wouldn't buy it on XBO even if I had one. I'll much more likely jump in for the next mainline halo, though.

Can people not be fans of certain systems and not get called out on it?

It's getting rather annoying.

EDIT: Saw your other posts about apologizing.

Have a pc so no. Also ive seen TF and played it. As I said in another thread, playing titanfall simply made me want to play something more. Something larger and more open like BF4. TF isnt my thing I guess. Will pick it up at bomba time though

It really doesn't look like a standard shooter. Its has some a very unique balance of pilot to titan action. Its a pretty different experience than the typical shooter these days. I don't know why people want to call this bland. Its anything but bland.

how is the first point even relevant though? its cool not to like any of the MS exclusives but I don't understand how you liking PlayStation would affect your purchase decision

personally I'm waiting on either a) a sick ass collectors edition console or b) a ton of good exclusives before jumping in to either

You're right, I didn't explain that.

What I should have said is I love my PS4 and its exclusives and don't have the time and don't want to spend the money on another similar console. My secondary console is a Wii U, and it scratches a different itch.

Thought of this many times, but just cannot see myself waste £450 just for one title. Will buy it on my 360 and more than likely be the last new release i buy for that system.

if Xbone were $350 or cheaper I'd buy one for Killer Instinct and this game, thank god it's coming out on Xbox 360 so there's even less reason to upgrade

Realistically, how much would it cost to build or buy a PC including everything - monitor, OS, peripherals, speakers, controller, etc. that would play this game at 1080/60? Could it be done for $750? Less?

I ordered an Xbox One at 1 AM one day. Then I went to sleep and in the light of the day I could finally admit I was content with my PC and PS4. I even had a Wii U for Nintendo games.I'd be able to play near anything I wanted. Titanfall couldn't overcome that.

So I called Tigerdirect and cancelled the order. That got it out of my system. I haven't felt the urge to get a Xbox One since then.

Edit: Yes I can get TF on PC but more people I know have consoles.

I was mainly an Xbox 360 gamer last generation and made the switch to PS4 for the most current generation. I was swayed by a myriad of factors (price, DRM shenanigans, performance, etc.).

I was always going to pick up an Xbox One, but I was going to wait for the price to at least come down $100, or wait for the mythical Xbox One minus Kinect.

I'm not sure if I'm just falling for the hype (of course I am), but I'm really getting weak here and am contemplating picking up an Xbox One this weekend in anticipation of Titanfall.

Just curious if there are a lot of others out there like me?

Not here. Outside of that, it is never worth it to buy a system for 1 game.

Assuming you're on a PC and not a phone making this post, go get yourself a $150 videocard and enjoy. No kinect spying on you either.

If more exclusives roll in down the line, and Microsoft adjusts the price of the console, then perhaps an xbone will become a reasonable purchase.

I thought about getting it for PC, but the nearly complete lockstep promotion of the game from the press has me gunshy about it. I'll wait about a month and hear from the players before deciding.

Titanfall looks no different from Brink. Just a bunch of hype, flashy videos, and zero substance. I expect it to be a huge disappointment after the first couple weeks of hype wear off.

If you haven't played a game let those of us who have express the facts. The game is awesome and does not play like Brink. Honestly what possesses you or anyone to shoot off opinions when you have zero idea what you are talking about. At least play the game first.
