Sony ain't putting AAA teams on VR, they're putting their Vita/PSP calibur studios on it. This is ironically what will wind up fulfilling the OPs prophecy. VR will never find real success with fractional budgets and inexperienced developers.
I really like ps5 and use it for exclusive content only
I however have zero interest in vr, especially CORDED VR. And with glasses vr is horrible to use
i feel this vr push will make sony produce less exclusive ”ordinary” games. The development of psvr stuff will dilute their already smallish first party.
I think psvr2 is a giant mistake business wise too - vr is NOT going mainstream with a CORD to your ps5. Vr is going cordless and oculus quest 2 is the kind of product that is the future of vr
Is there anyone here that thinks psvr is even exciting?
Anyone else feel PSVR2 is a GIANT waste
Cord or cordless.
The problem still remains, it's the games
Outside a few, Resident Evil 7 for example
All of them aren't up to par to complete with normal AAA games.
People will say Half-Life Alyx says hello
But you know what's the most talked about thing in that game?
It's not good enough.
Yeah but without the game behind it it's just a tech demo.Because these things make a huge difference.
Grabbing a box, emptying it on a table, and then picking out the ammo is crazy immersive. Manually reloading a gun while a zombie is heading towards you absolutely intense.
It's a completely new way to play compared to just pressing a button for every action.
It depends on the gamer.Because these things make a huge difference.

What's the measuring stick for real success though? Is there a number? 20 million profit a year, 200 mil? 2 billion?
As a first step, 25 million users engaged enough to fund regular HL Alyx scale titles that sell several million copies. As an endgame, a market that is as large as flat screen gaming. Relying on D-teams and indies is guaranteed to accomplish neither.
PSVR sold 5M across PS4 120M consoles. 4% rate.Quite honestly I wonder why they are taking a massive risk with this. Psvr although sold 5 million ish, this was from an i stall base of 100m+. They are barely managing to manufacture enough ps5’s.
It’s a big gamble. I am also disappointed it is wired. I have a quest 2 and it’s pretty amazing.

Yeah just like 3D TVsGet the hell out of here OP
VR is the future, next big step in gaming like going from 2D to 3D.
Yeah just like 3D TVs
Yeah just like 3D TVs
It depends on the gamer.
For me, when I play EA NHL, I'm fine with an overhead cam view and gamepad. I dont feel the urge to open up my living room and pretend shooting and passing a puck with wrist controllers. Same goes for shooters. ADS with LT and shoot with RT is fine. I guess I can pretend to hold up the VR controllers up to my eye like I'm looking down a scope to shoot, or pretend to reload my gun instead of pressing X. For me, I'll just press X.
My point is. It’s a niche thing. Most people couldn’t care less about VR.Poor comparison.
3D TVs are just a visual effect. VR lets you do things that aren't possible in normal screen gaming.
