Anyone getting this off-brand GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U & PC USB?

Well this is news because people want it to play Smash WiiU, it's the sole reason the original/official (the one sold out everywhere) exists.

And I don't give a damn about Smash Bros Wii U. I never even thought about that game when I came into this topic and decided to respond. There exists dolphin, so naturally I thought of that first.

All those people who paid way above retail for their adapters must be in so much pain right now.

I paid a bit more for the Japanese preorder because U.S. was sold out and scalpers wanted stupid prices. I and those who did are willing for an authentic Nintendo product we know knocks offs will be released but as a collector they have no value.

Since it's more expensive with shipping than the official one, no. I'll just wait for the official one to restock.

If it were < $20, yeah, I'd get it.

Same here. I know they're extremely expensive second hand, but I am going to get one at MSRP god dammit!

Wow that shipping time is unreal. In fact this whole situation is. I was about to pull the trigger until I saw that it could be delivered as late as March. Thanks but no thanks, I'll take my chances finding them elsewhere.

2-4 weeks for delivery?

Is that real?

I was about to checkout, but the absolute earliest I could get it was February 13th?

It's a preorder as far as I understood.

2-4 weeks is better than Nintendo's february of never.

It's better than Nintendo's deal. You can always order and if you find it in the meanwhile just cancel it. You won't lose anything.

That's really not fair. It is the nature of PC. When I install any Norton, my pc bluescreens with 1 min of booting up.

Installing software or hardware could bluescreen any computer. The question is, is it widespread? It doesnt seem so so it might be just a quirk with your pc. I bet if you reinstall your os with nothing installed it will probably work fine.

Their drivers just suck. They were written in kernel mode, which is totally unnecessary in modern (Vista+) Windows, and have a bug in them. On my old laptop I liked to call it the "blue screen box" cause all I would need to is unplug the thing and it's instant blue screen.

And of course they don't get updated.

You can just use the standard Windows HID driver for game controllers but then you can't configure or remap anything. I obviously choose to do this.

I got it a few weeks ago. Works great with Dolphin. Pretty useless for anything else though. Most PC games don't even recognize it and the ones that do don't bind the keys properly for some reason. Also I used it with PCSX2 but it somehow adds a ton of lag, despite being relatively lag-free with Dolphin.

EDIT: Actually I guess mine is different since it only has two controller ports. It's by the same company though.

Very very tempted. Will be watching ebay if the official one doesn't come back into stock soon. Using gamepad in Sm4sh is hurting my game.

Question- will it work with Nintendon't? I have next to no knowledge about that program, but I'm planning on getting into it once my dissertation is done.

Eh. You'd be surprised at how much people will pay for official peripherals because they don't trust third party products whatsoever.

To each their own though, I suppose.
Sometimes we don't have a choice...
I certainly didn't ask to have pay over $120 for a GameCube component cable but it had to be that way because of Nintendo's "special" way of making hardware.

You should wait until it's actually out if you don't need it right away. They usually have a listing on Amazon for their products.

You're talking about the wrong product. You are using this:

This is their previous adapter which only works with PC. This thread is about their new adapter which is a clone of this, and works with the Wii U:

Could someone who buys one post a review up on gaf somewhere? I bought four of mayflash's GameCube-to-Wii remote adapters awhile back and had a few issues: mainly that they were super finicky, didn't read almost any third-party controllers, and the plug for the gc controller was hella loose and unreliable. But when they worked they were lag-free and great!

That said, GameCube to usb seems way more straightforward and I'm totally down to buy one of these, since id really like a second adapter.

I'd be willing to share my impressions on this. Ordered one the other day from ebay, and it has been marked as shipped already. I also own an official adapter, so I can compare it to that.

Looks neat. I wonder how compatible analog triggers are with PC games these days.

I've been using a Mayflash Wii Classic Controller USB adapter for quite some time. It's worked well for me, especially for stuff like Rayman Origins with two players. I did have some compatibility issues with some games though, some of which were fixed by using x360ce, but others just wouldn't work well with it at all.

Will this also work natively with the Dolphin like the official adapter? I know that it is a clone of the official, but will Dolphin see it that way?

Well, given that I'm LTTP for Smash, I've decided to order this one. Not spending a premium for a reseller of the official one.

I bought this gcn style controller (the Mario branded one) that works via wii remote. Not as great as the OG controller but allows me to play relatively untethered and works with GC games as well.

I'll wait for the review... even some brave gaffer would help to see if this has lag.
Other than that I'm tempted it's nearly impossible to fin the other adapter in Mexico ):

Will probably grab one down the line.

I like their other adapters that I've had. I use a CC to SNES adapter to play MK8 with a SFC controller on my Wii U.

Oh, it's here already. That is a lot faster than I was expecting to be honest. Just turned on Smash to give it a quick test. Plugged it in and worked right away without issue. I will edit this later for a full-on impression when I have some more free time.

Mayflash adapter ordered from ebay on Jan 6th and arrived Jan 14th in a bubble mailer. So, a little over a week for delivery, but the ebay listing now costs more than when I purchased it at $20 (around $35 now but that price seems to be the final one). Box was a bit crushed, but contents were unharmed.

Mayflash has a 57" cord with housing dimensions of 5"x3"x1" as compared to the Nintendo adapter that has a 37" cord with housing dimensions of 4¾"x2¼"x1¼". Mayflash has a tapered design that seems to sit more stable on a flat surface because the cord exits housing through the middle compared to Nintendo adapter that has a rounded design and a cord that exits housing on the back right. Quality of build on Mayflash less heavy than Nintendo adapter but does not feel cheap. Controllers do not slip out of ports without a small amount of force applied--less force required than the official adapter.

Plugged four controllers into the Mayflash adapter and pressed same button on all controllers at the same time. No noticeable delay. Taunting animations start and finish as the same time. Mayflash adapter and Nintendo adapter can run concurrently with no noticeable delay. Also plugged one wavebird dongle into each adapter and had no noticeable delay when mirroring character movements and canceling moves with the same attack animations. There was some synchronization issues, but I think that's because of the wavebird not being in the best condition.

Overall, I am satisfied with it and would recommend it as a good alternative if you cannot find an official adapter or just want an extra one that is easy to replace.

Nice. Are you able to test the adapter with Dolphin?

Sorry, I don't use Dolphin, so I'm probably the wrong person to ask. But now that Dolphin supports the Nintendo adapter, I would say chances are good that it works on par with that as they pretty much work the same on Wii U.

Thanks for the impressions man, just bought one for ease of accessibility. Which is funny because I had to order it online from play-asia instead of just walking into a store and picking one up. =\

Mine shipped yesterday! Hope it works great!
