Anyone here still own & game on the original 3DS?

I still have an original black 3ds. I use it a lot when my new 3ds is charging or when I have to evolve pokemon through trading.

I do and it is the black non-xl version, I haven't upgraded because I could not justify spending $200 on a portable system. The 3ds is a great system and has plenty of games, but when I am at home I play on my ps4 and big screen tv, unless thee wife is watching something I don't like or playing minecraft.

I don't think it's worth the money to upgrade. XL is too big, the nipple on the new one feels terrible, and as much as I use it, I don't use it enough to warrant dropping another couple bills on one.

Still have and use my OG. I never really cared for the XL tbh, but I'll probably upgrade to a new 3DS eventually, if only for the exclusives and better performance.

Yep, still have an original Cosmo Black one. Although I had to send it in once due to running into the black screen of death (or something close to it).

I might upgrade to a newer model, but I'm not seeing any reason to.

I have OoT Limited OG 3DS and still game on it. Didn't upgrade because it still works and it's pretty. Recently I've encountered some issues though, so I might upgrade soon. The plastic fringe on the d-pad has started coming off, and the volume knob sometimes doesn't work (volume still goes when i turn it all the way down).
I won't be selling it though, it's too pretty. Also, it fits in my pocket, whereas the XLs do not.

Yeah, there's no reason to upgrade yet and even if there was I'll be holding off until the regular size New 3DS comes to the states.

yea, not regularly though, I mostly use it for Resident Evil: DS or the virtual console, I'm an ambassador so I have lots of great Zelda titles on mine. Haven't bought a 3DS game since ALBW.

I do. I'd like to get a New 3DS, just because, but I don't have any problems with my current one, so I'll probably just wait until I can get one much cheaper.

Have original black 3DS have always hated it, hate 3D gimmick (always left off), lack of second analog, different sized dual screens,etc... I love Zelda and Super Mario, so I own all 3 Zeldas and New Super Mario 2, 3D Land, and Luigis Mansion 2. I hope their next handheld is backwards compatible with 3DS games so I can never have to own one and it can rot with the terrible N64 controller and virtual boy in H E double hockey sticks. :P

Got the Zelda LE at launch and loved the system but always played with the 3d off since it didn't really add anything to the experience for me personally, so I upgraded to a 2ds when they launched and have been using it as my main system since :D I love it. It's so comfortable to hold and looks better playing games in 2d than the 3ds in 2d mode so all around I'm very happy with it. If they were to pull a strange move and implement the CPU improvements of the N3ds into an N2ds I would definitely get it.

Still have my launch one hahaha. It taught me never to buy a console/handheld at launch again.
It's still going strong though, don't feel the need to upgrade.

New 3DS has one real disadvantage: no physical wireless switch. Everything else is improved if I'm not forgetting something. I particularly like the improved loading times.

Then it depends on how you can adjust to the small nub they've added compared to the old CCP or no right stick of any kind. I like it myself but I know some people don't. I've even been told by one guy that his is starting to malfunction already (he's played some Xenoblade and apparently has been using camera control a lot, plus MH4U).

Oh and you can't transfer the system back to the old 3DS. That one honestly disappointed me quite a bit.

I did until a month ago. I was going to get a N3DS when MH4U came out but I ran into, uh, payment issues with my previous employer. Kind of hard to justify spending that kind of money when you don't know if you'll be getting paid.

My old 3DS is pretty busted up. Camera doesn't work, L button is messed up (I know all the tricks to fix it but they stopped helping a while ago), D pad is 'peeling'. Also has those vertical scratches on the top screen that old 3DSes used to get. Eventually got sick of that shit and upgraded to the N3DS - it is shocking how much better MH4U runs. The game is like 20fps online with 4 players on the normal 3DS, playable but barely. N3DS runs perfectly.

The circle pad pro is still superior for control though.

I do, while the system is not really comfortable to use, it works just fine, and i guess the better dpi is an advantage that other models don't have, my niece has a 2DS so i sometimes play on that too, its a nice system, if 2DS was on other color or the N3DS had a smaller screen i would consider upgrading.

Basically on NA i don't believe any model is the "best" one

Launch-day blue 3DS here, with screen-marks and all. Don't intend to upgrade (that will be a first in my house).

If most 3DS games play on my 3DS, there is no really need for me to upgrade. Also I'm not really a handheld gamer. I've only a handful of DS/3DS games.

I do. Reasons being:

1-I see no reason to rebuy a system when you would play the very same games for 99% of the time

2- I do not want to support Nintendo's shitty "release crappy design iteration first, design acceptable hardware second" mentality.

3- The Nintendo distributor in my country went bankrupt right after importing many OG 3DS consoles but before the XL was released, so OG is ultra cheap while XL is expensive (not to mention the New ones)

4- I hadn't realized I have no money to spare to pay 45€ for most games I want to play. (I am a student and buy videogames with my allowance)

5- I was not all that impressed with my 3DS and its games (and could not use it much, see point 4) except for Virtue's Last Reward(ironically, that is my GOAT).

6- I bought a Vita last December (wanted one since launch) and that has been receiving bulk of my attention recently, alongside a GBA emulator I downloaded when I bought a smartphone a few months ago. Thanks to tgose, I kind of forgot about the 3DS.

Still have an OG Aqua 3DS and it's still good though the battery only lasts about an hour and takes a solid 3 hour to charge. Could never quite justify upgrading to an XL but now with the N3DS the only reason I haven't upgraded to that is because I cannot comfortably do so cause of how little money I make.

still rocking the OG 3DS i bought at launch

i'm probably never going to upgrade unless the system has 2-3 years of life left in it with plenty of new games on the way, but it seems like nintendo is kind of winding down support. they may surprise me at E3 with Mario 3D Land 2 or something, but i'm doubting it

getting the N3DS would have some value to me though. primarily because playing on the original 3DS can cramp my hands, i'm interested in the N3DS' head tracking, and i've been meaning to get into monster hunter which i'd think is served well with a second analogue ... but i just don't play this thing enough to justify paying over $100 for it.

Still have my launch blue ambassador 3ds which I play on. play smash 3ds on it quite a bit and played kid icarus fine on it.

Yes.

One exclusive game (which is a awesome one btw) was not gonna change my mind and I dont like the XL version. Might of considered if we got the N3DS OG.

I still use my OG Aqua Blue 3DS that I got on launch. It's more than functional for me, so I don't want to spend money on another model.

I bought it day one and I still have it (I don't know why tho). I hated the device (not the games) and thus I took the first chance to upgrade it with the new 3DS. Now that I like gaming on the new 3DS the old one is useless.

Finally a device I should have had years ago. However I find the support this year to be pretty weak, so I will be playing some games from the DS backlog soon. For me the new 3DS worked out fine, but I can understand if you're still playing on the orginal 3DS and not making that switch for whatever reason.

I still use the 3DS I got on launch day. I haven't upgraded because there's no reason to and I doubt there will ever be a real reason to upgrade.

Played on the original 3ds until the n3ds came out. Would still be rocking it as well if it weren't for mh4u and xenoblade.

Yes, launch aqua blue here! It's by far my most used gaming system since release. It's still in good shape, but the battery sucks now. I would only upgrade for a non XL N3DS, but those are not a thing here, so yeah.

My screenshot capture is on original 3DSs, as is my import 3DS, so I have been covering games on it and my main Pokémon games ended up being tied to those consoles, too.

It's weird haha

its more than that though.

Build quality alone for one

I dont think that's worth it either. Build quality, a tiny nub, better 3D, and a small handful of exclusive games dont warrant a new system for me. I only see upgrades worth it when there's a large (or you could say generational) power increase with a bunch of brand new games coming out for the console. Or in other words basically the next generation handheld system. Its all about the games to me. Anything else is just a bonus.

Only reason I upgraded from the OG 3DS to the XL was because I got a scratch on the screen that was annoying the hell out of me.

I do. I don't have a real reason to upgrade yet; if the New 3DS busts out an exclusive game I really want, I'll pick it up. Also I don't really like the XL systems that much.

Then again, I only upgraded to a 3DS when my years old DS Lite started having dead pixels on the top screen, so I'm often one to wait, lol.

I have an XL and bought an original one for the purpose of local Pokemon trades.

I was really aiming to get an OG ambassador system without an NNID linked. Those are hard to come by so I settled for an NNID linked system with 16gb of digital games, some of which I was interested in. Since it isn't my NNID I'm reluctant to go online with it (in case the original owner has revoked it) but it servers the purpose of local Pokemon trades well enough.

Form factor isn't as bad as I remember from the pre-launch events but man does it feel horribly cheap. That even was a reason for me to wait for an XL version. I think now I could have been happy with the OG 3DS but not at launch.
