Anyways, I think we need price drops soon. DS, PSP, and original Xbox should all price drop.
They're not gonna drop the price of the Xbox. Are you nuts? It was abandoned at E3 2005.

LanceStern said:DS has already had 2 price drops in less than a year in the US I believe.

Then 150
Now 130
Or maybe it's just the bundles
Speevy said:Initially, Nintendo hardware always sells well. The company knows how to get the word out about new hardware and rarely has supply problems.
I think the launch sales of the Revolution will be huge, and may outsell the Xbox 360. However, long-term I think the 360 will significantly outsell it. Keep in mind I'm assuming a best case scenario in my mind for the Revolution (300-500 game library, tons of innovative games, no huge dropoffs in sales).
We'll see though. I've been surprised before, but I think the Xbox 360 will be #2.
What surprises me about this thread is even in a horrible month, the 360 was the second best selling piece of hardware. How many times did the Xbox achieve that goal? None that I can recall.

metropolis said:ya the PSP is really the target audience for EA games.. i don't know if that's a compliment or an insult though.
i want a PSP very badly but it certainly isn't for lousy yearly madden updates and need for speed car games.
My Arms Your Hearse said:I would however be shocked if the thing continues to sell out all year (unless the shipments drop dramatically, which wouldn't make any sense at all). The Xbox (hardcore) fanbase just isn't that big, and PS3/Rev are going to steal a lot of thunder.
Indeed... EA+GTA+Sony is basically eating all PSP software sales, very comparable to Nintendo's DS share.SolidSnakex said:Yah they've gotta be really liking it. At last check Madden PSP was close to 500k in the US and was the 2nd best selling game on the system, behind GTA ofcourse. Kind of amusing when you consider people were laughing at Maddens sales when it first came out.
Prine said:If anything PS3 will steal 360 thunder.
I wouldn't be that categoric. I think that is impossible at this stage to predict anything.Prine said:If anything PS3 will steal 360 thunder. Rev wont hurt the 360 at all IMO. Rev is the one in trouble
launching after PS3, up against 2nd wave of 360 titles, underpowered with an unproven control scheme.
Andy787 said:I hope the PSP continues to outsell the DS in the West, and likewise the DS to the PSP in Japan.
Andy787 said:This way, the PSP will recieve the support it deserves, and the DS will continue to recieve the only things that are worthwhile for it (that being all of the quirky Japanese titles, and Nintendo's games).
Thanks, more numbers pleaseAmused_To_Death said:> 100K

NWO said:WTF? The 360 has "thunder". :lol
In Japan it has taken the 360 months to sell what the original Xbox did its first week.
Europe sales where the original Xbox sales were not that hot are nothing special.
Its the slowest selling console in America since the Sega Saturn.
LanceStern said:I'm still interested to see how Mario Kart DS wills ell compared to it in the US. It's beat GTALCS in November and December, but not January, and is lagging in LTD sales in the US. However it's sold abnormally high in other regions.
japan is the only place where the DS is absolutely destroying the PSP and it all boils down to what each region considers a killer app to be. grand theft auto is the ultimate killer app for NA and europe but the japanese really don't seem to care about it. whereas brain training (probably) won't be a killer app for NA and europe (but i think it will sell very well.. just not mario kart or nintendogs numbers)
grand theft auto should show sony what is needed in japan.. they need the game that is the grand theft auto of japan.. for nintendo it's brain training or animal crossing but the PSP in japan just hasn't found out what it is yet.
Speevy said:The Xbox 360 has been selling every non retard pack unit it can in UK and North America.
Speevy said:MS may have undershipped, but the 360 is no Sega Saturn. (i.e. it will have a gigantic library)
This would put it around 2 million, and I wouldn't doubt that it'll sell 1 million in the US, even beating out Super Mario 64DS eventually
metropolis said:something doesn't have to sell the best to prove anything. i just need it to do well enough for nintendo to keep supporting the DS and make more mario kart games and obviously that will be happening whether or not the PSP and GTA outsell it.
LanceStern said:I come ot that conclusion because GTALCS has sold over 100k every month since it's release, and I think it'll continue that as long as the PSP continues to sell over 150k. SM64 on the other hand has been sellign around 30 - 40,000 for a while now.
SM64DS is at 1.286 million in the US
GTALCS is at ~ 820,000 in the US
If GTA continues to sell 100k or even 50 - 80,000 each month, it'll beat Mario 64 by the end of the year in the US.
