Anyone remember X-Men Evolution?

Saw part of the first episode when it aired. Literally like 5 minutes in Wolverine stops at a bar and barks "Milk! Cold!" cuts off the top of the bottle with his claws and pounds it like hes a badass. Turned it off right there and never looked back.

I didn't even like it when it aired, I always noticed how terribly animated it was.

Though it's weird that I did like 90s Spider-Man a lot.

I mean Spider-Man looked NOTABLY better at the time, and narratively was a lot less clunky (overall, anyway... it has a lot of dumb shit too). It too has aged pretty damn poorly, especially when you compare it to Spectacular Spider-Man, but it's easy to see why kids would've latched onto it at the time.

Even as a child I hated that show.

Of course, the intro to X-Men is still one of the most rad things ever in a cartoon. Hated Spiderman though, as I grew up reading the comics and the show was such a condensed and watered down version.

Morbius steals "life energy" like gimme a break that shit is lame.

Did you get some weird translation? It was water, not milk. Did you expect him to beer or something in a kids-teen show?

Plasma. I think life energy was Carnage, so he could fill the urn to help Baron Mordo release Dormammu.

Yeah it was 'plasma'. And he absorbed it through his hand or something real gross? That was dumb.

I re-watched Evolution maybe 3 years ago on Netflix. I enjoyed it. I also watched it as it aired and liked it then as well.

I had a comic re-released as a coloring book as a kid (the issue where Kitty as a new recruit walks into a Danger Room session gone haywire), and they changed Wolverine ' s beer to a cola in that. They aren't going to have a character in a kids series drinking alcohol.

Also, it wasn't a bar in that scene. It was a gas station convenience store.

X:TAS has aged like dogshit.
Yeah, even when I tried watching it back when Evolution was still on, it already felt dated. Clunky dialog and awkward pacing. I suppose it was more ambitious than the early seasons of Evolution, but the latter clearly executed what it was trying to do much better. A real shame Evolution didn't get more seasons.

This show always felt like it tried too hard to chase the x-men films' style, which I already didn't like 2 out of 3 of them.

Wolverine and the X-men was the wayyyy better show(animation and story wise) which somehow received less viewers I think, because it didn't get its deserved ending(just like Young Justice). That's probably because most people were burnt or burnt out by X-men Evolution and expected yet another show just like it. For those of you who don't like wolverine in everything, "Wolverine and the X-men" would have still been just fine without him, because that's how good it was. It also had the best Cyclops and Cyclops character development for those of you who like the character.

Remember when Cyclops went off on his own, and then Wolverine berated him for doing so at the end of the episode? And then in the very next episode, Wolverine goes off on his own?

What a douche.

Best animated incarnation of Jean Grey hands down(WatX version too, but barely shown, though her original 5 flashback telekinetic, City bus showdown with Magneto was pretty amazing)

Like others have said, Season 3 is where it really comes into its own.

And for me, it's kind of how things can be different, but not better or worse, just different. Like NES Zelda 1 vs. Zelda II. I loved TAS's verbose and dramatic Apocalypse...but there was also something very badass about Evo's version, when both the X-men, Magneto and the brotherhood all try to attack him, Egyptian-esque music in the background, slo-mo pans, etc, and unfazed Apocalypse says nothing, barely turns, the music goes silent, he clenches his fist, and power wave knocks everyone out...the music resumes and he floats on about his business.

I also liked that evo had actual roster changes...on both sides, and not just the usual one-off cameos most shows would do.

Actually it was a bottle of water....in a convenience store, but whatever.

I must be getting old; I never watched X-Men Evolution but i did watch the one before it... from the early 90s. The Animated Series.

ill take your word that it was water. It was an awfully long time ago. i dont know what i expected but it was then i realized it wasnt for me.

That's understandable, the first couple seasons are mostly "WE'RE TEENAGERS" with mutant shenanigans, but by the end of season 2 it got better.

Anyone watch Wolverine and the X-men? Only had 1 season for some reason but it was really good.

I liked it alot. A handful of mediocre episodes, particularly in the first half, but when they get into the actual overarching story, it's really cool. Great ending.

I liked this show, but I really hate how they made Storm and Wolverine adults compared to the rest of the cast being teens. Storm relationships with Jean, Cyclops and Wolverine as peers is awesome in the comics. In the show she just ended up being the boring housemom type.

This show also has the only animated Dani Moonstar and her episode is awesome.

The only thing I remember about X-Men Evolution was that it was the first time as a kid that I noticed the same voice actor in multiple things. I was so confused by Cyclops sounding like Goku.

So Teletoon in Canada is going to start re-airing this starting this Saturday.

And if I lived in Canada I'd be sure to avoid it.

This was the best X-men cartoon bar none
WatXm > 90's>>>> Evolution
. Sucks that they finished the entire second season but couldn't air it because Nick lost the X-men rights. Would love to see their take on Age of Apocalypses.

I liked it until
they made Magneto go full evil. I thought it worked a lot better having him a more neutral faction. I honestly don't think Mags would want a war or attack his own people. :/

Everyone on the x-men are always pretty. ALWAYS.

Agreed. Wish they could release the episodes they had finished. That show had some really interesting things going on. I loved the idea of Xavier being trapped in the future.

People always say this and I just don't understand. It's still great.

It's a genuinely ugly show, most of the voice acting is horrendous, the characters are all completely unrelatable, 90% of the plots are incomprehensible, and oh my god, the cheesy ass music cues (theme song aside) are so painful...
