Do you guys cook the oats first? It seems weird to have raw oats soaking with milk overnight expecting it to be edible by the morning

They definitely have more of the texture of uncooked oatmeal. I was really excited when I tried this, but it was at best unnapetizing for me and at worst inedible.I'm sorry, maybe I just don't understand the concept (probably). This sounds very unappetizing. So you're leaving uncooked oats in a jar/bowl of milk overnight? The oats then soak up the milk and have the texture of cooked oatmeal? But are...cold. What is the benefit to doing this?

Tried with steel cut oats. 1 part oats to 2 parts fluid. No sort of congealing happened at all, so this morning I was stuck with milk with soggy, chewy oats. Rolled oats turned out much better. Any idea what happened?
I might try a recipe I found where you fry the oats in butter, add liquid, bring it to a boil, turn off the stove and leave it overnight...
Okay, I am about to try my overnight oats. I prepared them yesterday. I put about two cups of old fashioned oats, with three spoons of peanut butter, two spoons of chia seeds, half a cup of greek yogurt, and some cinammon powder stuff I got.
I hope it tastes good. Oh yeah, and I used almond milk. About three cups.
Yeah, steel cut oats should be brought to a boil before letting them cool overnight. They won't work as well as rolled oats otherwise. If you plan on using steel cut oats, I recommend making a giant batch that will last you a week, and then reheat what you want in the morning with whatever additions you would like (fruit, honey, sugar, spices, milk, cream, yogurt, etc.)Tried with steel cut oats. 1 part oats to 2 parts fluid. What are some good bland recipes for this? I don't like soupy oatmeal at all. I like it pretty dry, moist, but dry oatmeal. PB or Bananas do not interest me at all. I generally throw in some honey or brown sugar into my oatmeal along with some cinnamon and if I have any around some diced apples. Strawberries or raspberries might be cool, maybe even blueberries.
I made it last night and it wasn't soupy. The oats were still pretty solid.
Made some yesterday and had it this morning.
It was alright. Maybe I kinda had the wrong expectation going in. Since it looks almost like a smoothie in the pictures I kind of was expecting something like that. Bit sweeter and something a bit thinner/watery.
I did 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 greek yoghurt, 1/3 almond milk, chia seeds, two tablespoons of peanut butter, mixture of different kind of fruits.
Probably will try it again and put in a bunch more almond milk in it, to try to get it a bit thinner next time. And maybe a bit more fruit and a bit less peanut butter. Any further tips?
Edit: It's fucking great energy wise though. Had it this morning, worked out, and now a couple of hours later I still don't feel the need to eat something.
Question how long does this stay good?
Can I make like 3 of them on Sunday and spread them over the week?
Or does it go to crap after a day or something?
I make 5 on a Sunday night and the longer they are left the better they get!
Yeah, that all depends on what you put inside the thing.Yea this looks delicious - subbed.
However, the nutrient macros in these might not be the best if trying to cut weight for the summer. Mostly fat/carbs and little protein.
Will give it a shot but doubt I'll be replacing my protein shake/flaxseed combo breakfast.

Yo - need a low carb version. Am shredding.

It depends on what you put in it and how you distribute the ingredients.made some with peanut butter, yogurt, rolled oats, and bananas. it's solid AF, i was expect something more soupy.

I'm going to try adding some black coffee to mine soon.
Did you put the oats all in one spot?1/2 cup oats, 1/3 milk, 1/4 yogurt, half a banana sliced.
