Apple confirms iPod "Special Event" on September 5th

Same and I love the song on the nano commercial.

I was playing around with the touch in store today and was having trouble navigating Neogaf so I held off on the purchase. The page numbers were really small... too small. :(

Zooming in eliminates that you know. That should not be an issue at all. I surf GAF all the time on my iPhone.

I found that at first too, but after you enlarge the page a bit, you get used to it real quick. Also, if you click on something and it chooses the wrong item, before you let go of your tap, just slide your finger to what you want. It's damn slick!

Ugh...that stupid "Music is my boyfriend! Music is my imaginary friend! Music is my king size bed!"...???

I can't get it out of my head when I hear it, but that song makes me want to cut my ears off.
 
So I went back and picked up a 16gig and damn I love this thing!! Jesus christ it is such a cool little gadget!! I jailbroked it as well and all the iPhone apps are working perfectly as well as a few extras like chat and sudoku.

Great purchase if you don't have a huge music library and want a do-it-all gadget.
 
The 1.1.2 iPod Touch firmware update is awesome. Everything feels much more snappy, and Safari doesn't crash any longer. And I can finally connect to my wireless connection at home! Something must have been tweaked. Very pleased.

you cant do these updates if you are using user made apps and all that stuff, can you?

Me too. I want it, but i dont know a good and safe download site to get it from. Im on a campus connection so they could trace it back to be if im not careful. Any tips?

Its apparently already been hacked (the new firmware that is) but it sounds needlessly complicated for me.

My boss may be picking me up a 16GB touch in the US whilst he's there this week (I'm in the UK), If it's 1.1.2 am I screwed for now?
 
Im having trouble getting the mail and weather and maps apps back on after jailbreaking at 1.1.2. WinSCP cant connect to my touch for some reason?? Any help here?

you can put mail and maps and weather on the touch!? how? I have mine with 1.1.1 at the moment and jailbroken with app installer on there.

So I find the little stand in my box and take it on a flight. nice, although it holds the touch at too steep an angle to work properly on an in flight tray table. Shows off the poor viewing angle.

But then I immediately lose it/forget to take it off the plane. Small transparant plastic FTL.

Don't suppose you can buy a replacement or there are any 3rd party ones? I'd accept a case that doubles up as a stand.

It was described in this very thread a few pages back how to do it.


I have a feeling im going to have to go back to 1.1.1 if i can get these apps to work with the latest firmware.
 
Got a touch yesterday and installed the iPhone apps on it, they work without a problem. Mail is very nice.

If you already updated to 1.1.2 you have to downgrade to 1.1.1, install the hack and then you can upgrade to 1.1.2 again.

I followed this guide.It was already hacked with all the apps at 1.1.1. Going to 1.1.2 annoyingly removed all the apps, and now for some reason it wont connect using WinSCP.


EDIT: Ok found the solution:

1. Go to installer
2. Tap sources
3. Then tap edit in the upper righthand corner
4. Tap add on the left
5. type in http://repo.us.to
6. Click ok
7. Go back to install and scroll to where it says "iPhone 1.1.x Apps for..." (where x represents your firmware)
8. Install the apps!

make sure you install the preps for each app you want first

I did it the same way, but I didn't have any apps installed on it before. After you upgrade to 1.1.2, you have to install the 1.1.2 iPhone Apps, not the 1.1.1

To install the apps, I did this:

Add
repo.us.to

to your list of installer resources, and install the iphone apps through installer!

NES works fine, the GBA is kinda crappy..the controls take up most of the display and the response is very choppy. I've found the NES games work fine though.
 
Are there any more sources that can be added to the list? I've only added the repo.us.to to the list to get the iPhone apps.

Caved in & bought a black 80gb classic on the apple website on black friday.
I was looking at my options and this was definitely the only way to go. Tons of space, smart playlists, and unicode support. Pretty hard to find anything else like it!

Hmm also ordered a beautiful gelaskin to go with it :D
I don't wanna look like I'm peddling anything lol (and I don't think anyone else mentioned this...) but just fyi http://www.gelaskins.com/ <- they're all so pretty <3

[edit] forgot to mention that the wait is killing me... I checked my mail box twice today.... even though I knew nothing would be there. Yeah I also know that it's supposed to be delivered to my door along with my signature ;_; mmm tomorrow can't come soon enough <.<

New version of the GBA one just released, with much nicer smaller controls.

GBA display is scaled up without antialiasing yet, so looks rougher. And still slow, but it's more playable in this version.

A long way to go, but it's getting there.

So tempted to get one of these for my touch, can't seem to find any real life photos anywhere on the net though.
