It's more a giant iPod. Now it's time to know the price?
If it's less than 600$ day first.

It won't happen but this needs to be flash memory compatible.

I made the obvious joke, iPass, in another thread.

Need more details, but at first glance, it's ugly in the same way DSi LL is.
Wouldn't mind giving up my netbook.

- It can be held in any direction you want. It looks like a giant iPod.

- It has a virtual keyboard. “A dream to type on,” according to Steve.

- It has Google Maps, and of course is web-enabled. It’s lightning fast.

- YouTube can be watched in HD. The Demo of Star Trek was pretty impressive, but it’s not widescreen, though.

- You slide to unlock

- The music player looks like a new version of iTunes.

- You can flick through [photo] albums. With a Mac, you can get events, places, and faces via iPhoto.

- On the bottom is a photo scrubber bar with a lot of nifty settings. It has built-in slideshows, music, and transitions. This looks slick

I'm getting my neons pens out so I can go write "max" in front of the logo on store signs or whatever.

Anyway, if it has Canabalt, I'm there.

It's Apple...the devout will snap it up regardless, and it will cost too much and already lacks simple things it should have (camera)

I mean FFS if they are defending the lack of flash (which isn't confirmed) it's a pretty simple thing and the standard of the moment, there is no hope.

As I said elsewhere: It's not tremendously interesting. I expected something... different.

I didn't want to say it with my first post but honestly..that double screen MSFT prototype thing looked far more interesting.

Whether or not it is actually feasible is another thing completely, I have no idea if it is.

Which is why once again, I'd like to know if this is more than just a giant ipod. It looks very pretty right now but the features are what really matter for me.

are you supposed to type on it like texting or like an actual keyboard?

I'll probably get one in a few years :/

LOL! People are gonna pay an arm and a leg for this mess. F that. I'm waiting for the Winter, and hopefully Chrome OS becomes a reality. There'll be a raft of tablets in this mold then. Apple kinda dropped the ball here. I was expecting more. PEACE.

I'd really like a pressure-sensetive stylus for a device like this. Will not happen.

Is this capacative? Toes it require the touch of flesh?

An apple tablet that you could do good precise art on would have been nice

The thing looks like a joke. An oversized iPhone.

Does it even have a stylus? I can understand no stylus for the iPhone or things like that, but when you have a full tablet you need something to write or sketch with.

any word on cost?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

The virtual keyboard is an absolute dream to use though

Never mind, have to stick a netbook I think.

I usually have 20ish tabs open, as I read and open new links to read later. I need to see more on how this handles webpages, if anything like iPhone then it won't work for me.
And I'd need flash for certain sites that have stupid flash based logins so I can pay bills.

These do make nice manga readers though. At 1.5lbs, it's gonna be a breeze to hold, but (a) how hot will it get and (b) just how much will it cost? I feel like it's an oversized iPhone right now. PEACE.

I imagine that Apple was probably in a bit of a pickle here - they don't want to canabilise either of their profitable businesses, and so they ended up creating some weird product that doesn't seem to have any obvious purpose.

This is exactly what people were expecting... a tablet size version of an iPhone or iPod Touch, and yet people are like surprised making jokes.

I look forward to this and I hate Apple, but love the iPod Touch which I have.

If someone can convince me of a practical purpose for this, I might consider this. Ok, not really, but I still want to know what purpose this serves. The amount of devices we are supposed to want is becoming exorbitant. I'm supposed to carry an ipod micro (whatever those clip things are called), iphone, macbook, ipad, then go home to my imac and watch TV using my iTV (whatever it's called). A small macbook with a swivel screen would have been nice.

No, I thought most people expected a tablet OSX.
