If it's on the go, you're going to store them and waste the limited space that the device has to keep them handy? It doesn't seem exactly practical to show off photos.
I'm sure I'm different than most, but me, I store my photos on a central server at home and can access the photos from any device that is on the network. On top of that, I have them pointed to on a password protected webserver, so I can access them from outside of my network on just about any device with a web browser.
I'm sure someone will find a need, but I'm having trouble understanding the situation that this would warrent the purchase to do so. Not trying to say what you're doing is wrong or anything, I'm just wondering if you've considered the alternatives and trying to understand the scenario that makes sense to me for this.
As an avid photographer, I'm mostly showing photos off to myself
I have to admit your quiet reserved speculations were accurate. I was hoping for something out of this world, but am not surprised. I DO think this still fits in the context of the 'everyday' computer for generally non-computery people. I'm going to love this thing for browsing. Heck, I sit at home with my iPhone browsing, with my laptop right in front of me.
I don't have a TV, so I use my laptop for viewing DVDs, and my iPhone to browse sometimes. An iPad is a great device for browsing and photos. I don't think it's that good a device for music, as I want to walk around with headphones for music - you know do other stuff.
The brushes applications is pretty neat (as in I have it for iPHone), so it's a natural to upgrade for the iPad. I figured Apple were going to do an app themselves, but why bother when the Brushes folks have already done a great job.
I think I'm going to love iBooks. I really like the iTunes store just for browsing. And if books are added, even better. Might actually get me reading more.
Not sure about games. Thing is, they can actually have a pseudo keyboard and mouse set up (like a virtual on screen one). YOu can bet they'll try it, most will get it wrong initially, but someone will get it right.
I'm excited for the device.
Oh, and you can bet the environment will evolve. 2,3, and 4 finger gestures made no sense on the iPhone, but they do on a tablet. I can see the OSes diverge from this alone.
