Porn, games and watching stupid shit with others in VR is a must. If you aren’t doing those three things in VR, then that’s like owning a Nintendo console and never playing first party Nintendo games on it. Just doing it fucking wrong.

I’m absolutely dead serious.

We had some wine with friends last night and my wife asked them to talk me out of buying a Vision Pro.

Half an hour later they had convinced me that for a tech investor 3.5keur is actually a small investment for having a first hand understanding of the future, or the understandng that this is not the future

In the end they were saying we need to get three. One for me, one for my wife and one to keep sealed for 20 years

This just in:

Apple worshippers seem super happy and at the same time super confused of what this device actually does.

Apple worshippers are also confused of where to go to preorder the Apple Pro Vision 2 as they are programmed to do when they receive a new apple device.

That's kinda like the other sore point for me - it's not JUST the money, it's the money on a device with a short ass life span.

This is the kind of product I'm going to want to replace every generation, unlike a TV, which I spend the $2000 or so on it knowing I don't really care about upgrading it to next year's model.

Headsets? Fuck, I'll take the Quest 4, the Quest 5, Quest Pro 2, the PSVR3, and if I got the AVP, I'm sure I'd be there for the AVP2 too. Better FOV? Better comfort? No external battery pack? Better passthrough and much better chip etc?

Yeah, jumping in at $5000 every gen is what would happen I'm sure. Even if the AVP2 is like $1000 less than the AVP1 or something, that's just going to hurt the resale value of the AVP1 that much more.

wait for the 2nd gen one. You know damn well this was the trial run to pay for rnd and to prove there is a market. They love to beta test their first products and expand from there.

Vision Pro seems to be tanking hard. Not just because there has been zero posts since Monday in the OT.

I plan to book a demo for my LA layover in March. I figured I would check how long the wait is to get one, should I enjoy it a lot. Turns out the shipping is unchanged from launch, 2-3 weeks. But more damningly, the product is available for immediate pickup from all the LA stores I checked.

Apple sell cool - ipods were cool, iphones are cool, macbooks are cool - even those .5kg headphones look quite cool and airpods are definitely cool. Status- like sports cars, watches and designer clothes.

VR will never be cool - you are strapping something to your face and locking yourself away from the real World. I think they’ll struggle.

So they predict AVP2 in 2026 and probably AVP3 in 2029 or 2030 then. Not too long a wait.

I think if they get it right at some point, we'll see an order of magnitude for growth, like 18 billion to 200 billion or something.

The passtrough on Quest 3 is horrible when you look it trough the quest itself. Videos of it dont show what its actually like. Biggest letdown for me has been the lack of games. Theres like two or three worth of playing. Considering how that is for Quest 3 it must be exponentially worse for Apple Vision.

That's definitely not correct, as TeamBeef has around a dozen games running on it alone. With new ones constantly being added.

After seeing this I can't wait to see what Valves next VR headset is gonna be like in terms of the tech it's packing.

Going by price, a headset in the $1000 range should not be comparable to this by any means, but I expect it to between the Quest 3 and this, somewhere in the middle.

1.4 billion / 3500 =
four hundred thousand ish

I guess but seeing what they did with the PC handheld market I would still expect them to push boundaries while keeping it somewhat affordable. We all know that apple loves to price higher than they should for the tech they put out.

please post feedback if you get the opportunity
it’s amazing, was blow away by the demo got it home around 4 and been using it no stop for 4hrs. Just stopped so my brother can try it when kids go to sleep.

Yeah it’s cost way too much but man if you like to watch movies and stuff it’s crazy good.

the native video apps are amazing, Disney+ Apple TV, hbo max and Crunchyroll all work great. Got a third party app for YouTube that works but is a bit janky.

txting and typing in general is a bit slow but even after a few hours getting much faster at it. Mostly using the look and pinch way.

Kinda falling out of love with gaming lately so I spend most of my time watching movies and stuff so loving it. Hope they make a cheaper one down the line so more people can experience it.

did my laundry while moving a YouTube vid around the house. Man what a time to be alive

Posting this from my Apple Vision Pro. A few thoughts:
  • I bought a keyboard for this thing. It is a must accessory if you are doing anything with it beyond just watching videos.
  • Wow, the immersive videos are impressive. Alicia Keys one, in particular, is unbelievable. Can’t wait for more of these things. Apple really needs to invest a ton in more of these videos and pump them out quickly. Downside? Screenshare doesn’t work with these videos and that’s kind of ridiculous. You can’t cast the videos from your AVP to your Apple TV so others can see what you’re doing on the device. Kind of a joke. I understand for most videos because it’s a licensing issue but if Apple made these things specifically for the AVP, they should not have this DRM issue.
  • It is clearly a typical first generation product. Most people shouldn’t buy it but if you can, go for it. I’m enjoying using it as a PC, which is what I was going for. The video is great. Apps works p decently. Safari is good. There is clearly a lack of content and it’s quite expensive but those are all first generation problems. Give it a few more iterations, a few more years. Everything gets better and you will get more content. I will be keeping mine but don’t blame anyone for ditching it. The smart thing, as always with any new tech, is to wait. I don’t know why people would expect differently for this one.
  • The only people upset that this exists, and upset at that people actually buy it, are deeply insecure with themselves. Did you see me worrying about people who wasted $500 on a PS5? Nope. And that thing has been an even bigger useless piece of junk. Years and year later and nothing special about it.

Yeah I’m using mine as my main computer now. Getting better with the typing. Looking forward to more apps to start hitting. Feels like the iPad launch.

Haven’t used my tv for days…. If I’m not using the AVP I’m using my iPad Pro.
