Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

Are tracked items marked in any way while you are looting?

Also just had some great raids where it seemed like it was just me. I assume because of the downtime LOL.

Edit: Google says the eye icon should be on them while looting but I don't think I've ever noticed it. I'm usually rushing so I don't get shot so maybe the icon is there.
A little eye icon on the item.

Just had a friendly match in Stella Mortis without killers

Still, by far the worst map tho. Will explore it some more. But dont like how maze like it is.

The spawns need sorting ASAP and the fact that it just keeps dropping more Raiders in until the 15 minute is a bit too much. But I like the actual map.

Haven't played for a week now due to work and uni, just discovered that there's a free event that lets you get more outfits, pretty cool of the devs to do this. Stella Montis is now unlocked and I didn't contribute anything to it haha. I'll be taking my time with this game thats for sure.

I really like the new map so far. It is like a huge version of the underground section of blue gate which is my favourite area. My mate and I did die from the timer reaching 0 as we couldn't navigate our way out haha. Still early days, really keen to learn the map like we have the others. It's nice not having to sprint across a whole map too.

Just had a soul crushing moment where I was trying to find a safe elevator, had some blueprint, a blue renegade (are they all blue? I've only seen blue renegades so far) and lots of material I needed to upgrade workstations.

Arcs were completely surrounding the one near water treatment control including the giant spider looking one. So I decided to go to one further out with 10 minutes left. Got caught by a wasp and started fight it, but then a hornet (I think) came along to back it up. I panicked cause I didn't have anywhere nearby to hide AND I was over encumbered, so I ran and yeah, didn't make it. Crawled pretty close to the elevator but I bled out before I could make it. And there was another giant spider patrolling that elevator as well.

Went out with a free loadout, so at least I only lost what I picked up on that run. Anyhow, great fucking game! Really enjoying the learning experience and plotting out ways tackle the different situations. Think I'm gonna try bringing smoke grenades with me from now on for these situations, see how well they work.

Lure grenades are really good for clearing a path or getting stuff off your tail.

Smokes are decent at extract to make things a little safer.

The water treatment extraction point is the safest one across the whole dam battlegrounds map.

That leaper is a massive deterrent to extraction campers and rats, so all you have to do is successfully sneak your way past that and hide after you call extraction, then you're out.

You should have been patient and stayed there.

Stella Montis is too big! There needs to be more game time added!

Is there more call for this? I understand the design's intent, but it's still too much on the hasty side imo. Dropping in and seeing 28 minutes remaining feels okay on some maps, but I'd still use more time. When you start up a mission and see 17 minutes left to go it almost feels like a risk laden waste of time; it's undesirable in the same way I don't appreciate JIP in other shooter titles, just as matches are ending and I'm on the losing side. An hour default surely isn't that difficult to tune for? At least on the larger maps.

These are but gripes. I'm enjoying the game otherwise, but I'd like to see myriad improvements brought to the game that to me are curious omissions at launch.

If they had no join in progress then matching making would be longer and you'd hardly see anyone on the maps. As people leave or die they are replaced. Its necessary, your primary mission if you spawn in late should be engage in PVP to get the loot that's already been taken.

This new map just sucks. It would be interesting as a pure PvP map. But then remove all the loot. As a mishmash of both, it doesn't work at all. That's how I always imagined Tarkov, and that's not what I want to play.

so interesting squad bro claiming he was a play-tester for the game last night... he said they are testing the first DLC content which is an AI robot takeover of topside and that there is a T-1000 style ark that stalks the map with a bounty, and that they are working on an expensive single use item that you craft from snitch scanners that will fire up a snitch of your own to highlight players on the map temporarily aimed at punishing extraction campers.

No idea if he was full of shit but he talked at length about this like he was dead ass so I dunno. He ended up bailing on me down a raider hatch instead of helping me get to the metro so also fuck that nigga lol.

Hmm I hadn't thought of it that way. It makes sense. Don't you think an hour would still be a better starting point though? I almost never have sessions that last for any longer than 20 minutes, which I'd be happy to be involved in if it were catered for.

I dunno, I thought about that when you posted the suggestion. Wouldn't there just be no loot anywhere after that amount of time? Even after 10-15 minutes most of the good spots have been lifted. It would just descend in PVP madness unless you made the maps much much larger (I think).

I suppose this stuff will evolve as we go on. Already there's a large map in the game, perhaps Blue Gate already increases the time limit but I haven't noticed. It always seems to be 28 minutes remaining when I land.

All games start at 30 minutes as far as im aware.

But yeah I'd expect the game to be completely different this time next year.

They need to put the shredder in every map and and make them less rare, since they are so tanky, they are not an enemy you can ignore and that is gonna change the indoor encounters in pvp aswell.

Due to mic (which is just so fascinating in this game), killing people in solo feels bad, so I've reverted to being a peaceful person unless attacked - at which point I will bandage back up and then plot against anyone that moves for the remainder of the session. But it still feels terrible lol. I barely survived an encounter earlier and lost sight of the aggressor, so I carried on my mission. But before its end I downed two other passers by purely due to having my temperament changed by the earlier exchange. One of them called me a fucking prick (fair enough) and the other sounded like a 12-year-old local kid who used proxy chat to briefly plead I leave him be, and I felt terrible afterward. Especially considering he was on a shitty free loadout full of low level items. Fuck me I felt horrible 😐🥹

Holy shit... i finally decided to get the last 4 bombardier part for my last lvl 3 station. Went in with epics and hullcracker. 2 times got ambushed and killed. Made my 3rd hullcracker and went in the 3rd time. Just as i killed the bombardier, his last shell hits me and downs me, i was so mad... then out of nowhere a guy comes and defibs me. What were the fucking chances for this to happen after all the shit i got all day. Got my parts, upgraded my last workshop and gave the guy a community award on his steam page lol

jolly co-operation lmao

Tbh, if it's just the smaller arc's you are after, it's far easier to just buy / craft two or three Wolfpack grenades. The bastion, leaper and rocketeers and I think even the bombradier go down with 2 wolfpacks alone. They cost much less money and time than the hullcracker.

New map is just weird in this game. Reminds me of the Hoth interior levels in Star Wars battlefronts or shadow of the empire n64.

That being said so far everybody I've met in solos on that map is friendly as hell. Probably just explore the map mindset though.

Hullcracker is just so satisfying to shoot

Man, I've had this "Sparks Fly" mission where I'm supposed to throw a triggernade or a snap blast grenade onto an Arc Hornet and destroy it. I've gone through a dozen of these grenades and have YET to actually land one of them on the damned Hornet! I must suck at aiming the grenades or something because it seems incredibly hard to hit Hornets with these things.

This mission is by bane. 😒

I was able to lure one to me and ran into a structure with a door, was able to nail it by using the opening as cover while it was close.

Guys, on a serious note, for someone who's never tried an extraction shooter, is this worth it?

We would start as a group of three, but we have absolutely no experience in the genre whatsoever.

As long as you're okay with the chance of losing shit then you should be good. You will lose some rare items, but nothing in the game is really that hard to get again.

Some players you interact with will be complete pieces of shit while others will be super nice.

Do you think you would like the best online experience probably in the existence of videogames?

Like Luipadre Luipadre said the OT title started as a joke, but its turning out to be a self fulfilling prophecy.
