Apparently it's a cop magnet:

10 Most Ticketed Cars

3/10 are all Scions.
Without bothering to click the link, that's more because of the average owner's age factor than the car itself.

It attracts the same "teenage boy racer" crew that the old Civic's cornered the market on in the past.

Well yeah, that's what it says. Although Hummer is #1 :lol

Unfortunately, that's the crowd that drives up insurance costs for everyone on certain models.

Hummer driver's drive like asshats, so that's no surprise.

*clicks link*

The only surprise on the most ticketed side to me is the CLS63 AMG. Most (if not all) people I've seen are older drivers who baby the hell out of the car. :lol

i bought a Scion tC brand new in 2007. Probably not worth it to pay for the mark-up of a new car, but i had never owned a new car in my life and i am finally making money after finishing school.

anyway, i have had the car for 30k miles right now and it is still running great. i have not had any problems other than having to replace the tires, but according to tirerack the stock tC tires are total crap, so it is probably good i replaced them. the mileage has been a steady 30-35 mpg highway, just a little less in the city.

in july it will be 2 years since i bought it, and since i have had zero problems i think it is a pretty good vehicle.

Bumping some oldness here but I got a 2011 XB in Army metallic today and it really is a neat ride. I switched out of my '06 passat that was going out of warranty. I had to haggle for half a day but we met in the middle finally.

EDIT - I drove a '10 altima the day before, ugh. Overpriced. Looks nice, performance is shit.

Get the Scion tC if you're into sporty cars. Get the Corolla if you want a more 'serious' car that is still fun to drive. Skip the Civic as the only good Civic IMO is the latest coupe model and you're looking at the '03 one which isn't good looking compared to your other choices. I drive a '03 Toyota Celica and I get 33 mpg if that's any help. Very happy with it. :D

Edit: On phone and didn't realize someone bumped an old topic -_-

Scion is really reliable, they basically take 5 year old toyota tech after it has been perfected and the mass production has made it super cheap to build.

Unfortunately they only make one vehicle that can actually pass as a car as opposed to a giant box, and are driven almost exclusively by douchebag teenagers, but aside from that.. :lol :lol

I love my 06 tC. It's the only car I've ever owned that's been TOTALLY reliable.

I'd try to get an 06 over an 05 tC though. Wasn't the 05 the first year for the tC?

Pro tip: As soon as you can, get the TRD springs/struts setup. That's the only mod/upgrade worth getting, IMO. Good warrantee on the parts, lowers the car about an inch and a half which looks much better, and it handles MUCH better. I bought mine brand new with this installed, and would never go back, after seeing/driving friends' tCs with the standard suspension.

How much was it? and the upgrade?

I have been wanting a Ford Fusion. I think they look great and bomb ass gas mileage of course. According to that US News and World Report, it scores really highly, too. :D Now I just need money.

I'm considering waiting for the scion iq. 40+ mpg and it'll probably be around 11K-13K. :p

I tried for months to buy a Scion with a manual transmission and (at least here in S. Florida) it was damn near impossible to find one that wasn't being sold on a rebuilt title.

Just make sure that all the VIN number stickers are still in place around the car on each of the main body parts and that they match. Good luck...I never did get mine as I got tired of searching but with so many out there, I'm kinda happy to have something a little more unique.
