Are we going to see Final Fantasy 7 remake in this generation or the next?

Soooo this is not a turn based game? It's not a remake of the best turn based RPG of all time? What's the point? Mehhhhhhhhh what are they thinking making this like Mass Effect or whatever I can tell from the gameplay snip

It's action RPG based on what I saw on the 2015 PSX trailer. Personally, I don't mind as long as it is executed properly.

But we already got realism with FFXV, can we for once have much more stylize FF game? I personally really liked original FFVII character design more than the crappy design we got Advent Children. I the tech we got I really want to see they bring those original design to life.

Think of it like this: Before FF7 we had chibi sprites with heavily stylized artistic illustrations which were great also; FF7 ushered in that dark gritty realism. Even the menu screen character portraits were tough and steely. I don't think I have to tell you, but to those who don't know: some people didn't dig it.
Could they do a better job with the newer designs overall? Usually the answer is yes. Ever since the Bouncer I saw that Nomura is the kind of guy that needs someone to walk into the room and say, "Try dialing it over this way..." And that's something that probably hasn't been said to him since FF7's original development

I think this gen people are much more open to stylize visuals and also you still can make the visuals look gritty and industrial without going realistic. To me the FFVII original art style has personality and charm that the current FFVII Remake really lacks.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife.

And I will have my Final Fantasy VII Remake. In this generation, or the next.

Thank god! Don't get how the people with leader/director roles for this remake are working on multiple projects.

Knowing SE we'll get it this gen, but it'll be a buggy and hamfisted launch. The definitive, patched, fully DLC'd version will appear on other platforms a year or so after release.

If Nomura is still in charge, it'll release in two generations from now. The guy just doesn't know how to release a game in short time.

At this point they will probably delay it and make it a PS5/XB2 title... similar to what happened with FF15

They have high respect for Nomura at Square so it makes sense. And it should be noted that he's involved in like ten different projects to some degree at the moment. That's kind of what his position calls for it.

As for the release, why hold off on it when you can release the first half of the game on the PS4 then re-release it on the PS5 to get people excited for the release of the second half on the PS5? Then release them both in the same package later on.

Folks love buying games they already own so there's no reason not to. Easy money.

Can we honestly call this "remake' at this point? This looking more like reboot and I would bet you they gonna shove genesis's story from crisis core in to this.

I really hope they don't even mention the abomination that is genesis in this one. If they can keep the quality of the gameplay stuff they showed at PSX 2015, I'm happy with that.

I'm not just referring to Nomura. The fact that Hamaguchi which is basically the person in charge of getting the team to actually program stuff and the games producer Kitase are both working on mobile titles during FF7R's development, is really weird to me.

In my opinion SE chose such a dull way to remake this game. With tech we have now, they could have easily bring the original FFVII artstyle to life but instead they kind of went with advent children look.

Well it's def not suprising. They have flexed their graphical muscles for over 30 years now when it comes to mainline FF and I really did not think this would be any different.

I would have rather they use their "graphical muscles" more creative way. I'm sure both DQXI and KHIII have nothing on FFVII Remake when it comes pure tech but to me the visual of both of those looks way more exciting than what we got in FFVII Remake. But I understand their reason. They are trying to appeal to more western audience and I'm guessing this the reason why they went with action combat rather than turn base battle system.

Speaking of which, hopefully they actually make it good this time. I'm not picky on action gameplay in RPG's, but FF like wants it be somewhere in-between FFXII and Kingdom Hearts and I personally find it just dreadful. I liked it better in Type 0, then I felt they somehow made it far worse in XV, albeit flashier (not to mention the removed of character switching).

Yeah, I honestly don't know what was up with FFXV's combat. They trying to make the combat more grounded while still flashy but in the end game was awkwardly stuck in between the two. Thank god, KHIII never has worry about the combat ever being more "grounded" they can go full on crazy and fun with the combat and I hope FFVII Remake can find much better balance than FFXV.

Japanese devs are not up to par with western devs when it comes to efficiency in making games, so I am not surprised. The game was announced 3 years ago, and so little is shown of it, and it is not a good sign. The game doesn't look like it will be ready for even 2019. I have stopped caring about FF7 remake. I will focus on the confirmed games that will be coming soon such as god of war.
