that's pretty much the case. whites and blacks are shinking slightly or holding steady, hispanics are growing exponentially, and asians are somewhat constant to growing.

I don't think it's come full bore yet. You can see there's been things like that. The NAACP and the ACLU are sometime so anti racism that they are racist themselves. Sometimes a murder is a hatecrime, and a hatecrime is a murder depending on what your color is.

For the most part though there hasn't been a huge rash of those incidents.

As white people become the minority it'll be interesting to see the different minority groups embrace being more dominant population wise. But no right now i think minorities are still discriminated against more, probably will be for like 50 more years at least.

I'm just singling them out as an ethnic group who's wealth and political influence is inversely proportionate to their representation in the population as a whole to make a point. The reasons why aren't really relevant here. This is the exact opposite of the situation most non white ethnic groups (blacks, hispanics, some asians) find themselves in.

this post does bring up something that i think is of interest- though jews have generally had a "disproportionate" influence they also have been (and continue to be) discriminated against on a a pretty huge scale.

Not exactly. Social capital is basically your connections within society, so you can get a lot of good ones by going to an expensive school or whatever. Cultural capital is probably more significant in this case, it takes into account accent, taste in fashion, food, music, clothes whatever. Those little things can add up. Of course there are extreme differences in taste between rich and poor white people too but race is a pretty big one. I'd recommend reading up on Pierre Bourdieu's theories of capital and habitus if you're interested, I really should be writing this assignment

depends on how you look at it. no one is clutching their purse and going out of their way to cross the street when they see a jew coming, or throwing resumes with jewish names in the trash.
