Are You Cool With Killing Insects?

When I was a kid, our house often had swarms of ants that I would kill with hot water or the liquid thats used to blow bubbles. Those were pretty damn effective in making them roll in to a little black ball. That all changed when I watched the movie Antz. Truly, I was a monster.

This is pretty much me :l. It fuckin' sucks cause the new house I bought has a buncha spiders here and there, and those bastards are really hard to catch. Sometimes I'll just see them chilling on the floor and I could easily kill them, but I'll say, fuck it, and leave em be :l
 
I'm pretty sure that somewhere deep underground spiders have a gold statue of me swinging a shoe, beard flowing in the wind. if I see one, I can't let it go - had some straight up horrible experiences with them as a kid. a brown recluse bit my thumb and it nearly rotted away, had a huge spider crawl under the door while I was on the toilet - stomped it and what seemed like hundreds of baby spiders busted out and hauled serious ass in every direction. so yeah..

I save crickets from my cats all the time, though. ain't nothin' wrong with crickets.
 
I'm fine with lady bugs. Apart from that it's kill on sight. No torture or anything, just plain murder.

I remember one summer. We lived by a swamp and it was so hot we had to have both balcony doors open all day. Then at night so many flies and shit had flown in that we had to go around with a vacuum cleaner and clean them up. We, my brother and me, went wabbit huntin' for flies in the ceiling, took about 30 minutes every day and it was oh so disgusting cleaning out the bag.

3. Is it harmless? Pick it up and put it outside.
4. Is it a nonvenemous spider? Leave it be to kill other pests.
5. Is it harmless but scares the fuck out of other people? Pick it up and wave it around them for lulz.

Co-sign. Or my dog usually snacks on a few. I seen him eat crickets. Good protein I say.
 
Depends on the bug. Generally I won't go out of my way to kill bugs, but if there's one inside and tissues are nearby, it's probably gonna die. I got a lot of satisfaction from spraying a hornets' nest and watching them slowly crawl out and die though.
 
I detest spiders, but i think I have now developed an anti-spider aura because I have not seen one inside my home for a couple years now. Either that or I am blocking them out.

Anything other than spiders and infestations they get a free pass outside. Ethically I have no issues even tho "life is life." All animal life is dependent on destroying other life to sustain their own.
 
If I start caring about insects then I will start caring about acari and then I'm gonna start feeling bad about the stupid bacteria all around us.

I might as well stop taking antibiotics; just think of the poor Vibrio cholerae!

Outside, no I got no issues. But inside my house, no sir. You've got a whole earth outside to screw around in. Stop getting into my cereal boxes.

Ants have never really been a problem, unless stupid siblings decide to spray their lunch all over the family computer keyboard and they get lodged in there for months. Moths and the like seem to just let themselves out on their own. Mosquito hawks I leave be for obvious reasons. And people people please, spiders are not insects (though if I find one, usually the really tiny ones, I don't hesitate to find a shoe) Flies are everywhere and too quick for me to get at, but they usually go away on their own (but why oh WHY do you have to flit about my FACE? hover about my hand or foot, but for gods sake stop trying to land on my corneas). Fruit flies though? Older sis brought some in with some groceries once, took WEEKS til there wasn't a cloud of em sitting in the kitchen. But cockroaches can get right the fuck out. Diseased and creepy as fuck (had one fall on my face outta nowhere while opening a bathroom cabinet first night in my new apartment, JESUS), drown the bastards in raid.
 
man FUCK earwigs.

When I used to live in Canada I'd have a SHITLOAD of them all over the place.

Now here in LA I have to deal with the odd cockroach but that's about it.. Oh and I've come across a couple Black Widows in the 13 years I've been out here.

On topic, no I personally don't kill bugs unless it's Mosquitos or a poisonous spider which is rare. It does bother me when somebody kills a harmless insect for no reason like grasshoppers or crickets :(

And I hate when people insensibly kill snakes.

And hitting turtles on the road is just fucked up. [ranting]

In house: Die

For the most part anyway, exceptions are beetles and ladybugs.

Killing snakes is fucked up. Of course, that is not an insect. I am weird since I put insects on a lower level than other creatures. But it does depends on the insect.
 
Why wouldn't I be? They're insects. If they're in my house, they're dead. It'd be weird anyway, having a problem with killing insects, but still happily eating meat.
 
If it's not annoying me, then I leave the bugs alone.

If it's a ladybug or something, I try to trap it in a jar or something then throw it out the window, but if it's a fruit fly, I just kill it.
 
Also, I eat certain insects, like grasshoppers, ants, and especially crickets, so I certainly don't fear those. You should try them really.

In all honesty, I think people should be eating way more insects than we currently do.
 
The only ones I kill are carpenter ants since they eat wood, other than that I let them be or get a tissue and escort them outside.

I agree with tat. People have said that if it came down to a group of us surviving in the wilderness I would be one of the last ones alive because I'll eat almost anything.

I try my best not to kill any insects...I usually just pick them up with something and lead them back outside.
 
Ants: no, there are already too goddamn many of them
flies: depends on how many I've seen recently- the lucky few are released unharmed
Spiders: depends on where they are- if I can easy get to them, I'll release them. If they are bunkered down or on me they die.
Bees: I'll let them out if I can.
Wasps: Fuck them. Fuck them to hell.
 
The only bugs that get a pass from me are lady bugs, because they're cool and harmless, and spiders because they help me kill other bugs.

I will hunt a fly non stop if it enters my house, I hate them the most. Hornets, roaches, and ants are also terrible things that need to stay out of my house and yard.
 
Only harmful pests that invade my home. If I see them outside while I'm walking, I don't give no fuck. Spiders, ants, beetles, bees, etc are all cool with me.
