• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Are you going to buy PS4 Pro?

No. I'm fine with my PS4 for the exclusives I want to play, but long term I'm migrating away from consoles. I'll be playing on PC and mobile. I'm not interested in a closed-box iterative approach for consoles.

Nope. May buy a replacement PS3 or a Vita (if I can find one), but that's just to work through my backlog. I don't have enough time to justify new game purchases.

I was very intrigued the pro, but not anymore. It was underwhelming. I'm content on how my games look on OG ps4. Would I like better performance at all times, yes, but in the last few months I've been playing games less and less, the pro isn't worth it for me.

Plus, I don't have a 4K tv to fully enjoy what does come with the pro upgrade.

P.S- pro is a terrible name.

Definitely not. The conference didn't affect my decision. It's just not something that appeals to me.

I'll get a used, OG PS4 on eBay. With the Slim and Pro announced, I'm hoping the old one will drop in price.

Conference was wack, was waiting for the reveal but the specs, no 4k Blu-ray etc just managed to unsell me. Will get Scorpio.

I'm not entirely decided but I'm leaning heavily toward just sticking with my OG PS4. Will wait to see what kind of deals there are during the holidays.

I'll get a PS4 Pro only if/when my current OG PS4 breaks, and not a minute before.

I imagine a lot of people in this thread share my sentiments.

I've never experienced a company trying so hard to unsell a product since the Xbox One reveal. The short Scorpio reveal trailer did a way better job in just a few minutes.

Yes, I already sold my PS4 for what I paid for it last black friday.

No UHD is a massive disappointment though. I wanted a no-frills player while I waited for the Oppo one to come out. With all the current UHD players except the upcoming $800 Panasonic flawed with my "4k" projectors I wasn't expecting much from a Sony console player anyway.

No. I planned on it, but no 4k Blu Ray, I don't like the design and I don't think the spec bump justifies the price.

Just keeping my OG PS4.

Really glad I got my One S as a media machine and will pick up the Scorpio next year.

Definitely. Pre-order on Amazon already in. I play CoD and that's coming out in very high res @60fps. Even BO3 is getting a Pro patch. Please Destiny - be next!

Nope.

No 4k TV. And even if I did, this thing is no where near powerful enough to do 4k properly.
Plus the no UHD Blu Ray player thing is just dumb. I don't play Blu-Rays that often, but when I do it's nice to have. Would be the same for UHD BRs as those become a thing.

Still mildly interested in the Scorpio at this point, but more likely just going to save up for a GTX1080ti.

Nah. No 4K TV, and as for the other stuff, I have a computer that's still more powerful than the PS4 Pro. So I'll stick with the OG and play exclusives

Yes. Despite the mediocre conference. The lack of an UHD Blu-ray player does sting. But the increased fidelity of PlayStation games, 4K streaming, HDR, improved Wi-Fi and decent price ($399). Makes the upgrade palatable.

I'm sure the Pro will become more attractive when more software displays its benefits. I'm sure 4K Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-man will ignite my hype something fierce. But right now both those titles feel far off.

Been waitin for it (and games I actually want) to get a PS4 at all, so yup. No brainer. Pretty pleased by the price, they coulda probably jacked it way higher.

I've never experienced a company trying so hard to unsell a product since the Xbox One reveal.

How so, the conference was boring and didn't really "sell it" but it does everything that people said they expected.

Choice upto the dev:
Possibility of higher framerates at 1080p for those without 4K tvs
Possibility of improved graphics at 1080p for those who don't care about higher framerate
Possibility of native 4K for less taxing games (indie and perhaps some mid-tier)
Possibility of new upscaling tech for games that are too taxing for real 4K at this price

Tomb Raider is apparently offering all 3 options. We'll have to see what becomes standard though ofcourse.

What's the point of upgrading if we will be held back by the OG PS4!?!? They said it that games that have 30 fps multiplayer will not get a boost ao they don't make it unfair to people stuck on a lower fps. Bloodborn has pvp so that rules out having a 60fps for that game since og ps4 guys will be stuck at the low fps.

Which is stupod because when i play on my pc Overwatch, my old pc goes in between 20fps 40fps and i take on people who play at 144hz and yet i can still play good

Probably not. I have too many consoles that are shittier PC's, I don't need another one that can't decide what it wants to be.

I will after I have a capable display.

And that is going to be a long wait since I don't buy tv displays but projectors.

And 4k is nowhere near ready on that front.

PC is where it's at for me. Besides, consoles exclusives are so rare (and disappointing) this gen that I'm not expecting anything (and before you jump at me: I own all consoles and I've played what they have had to offer).
