Are you interested in Wii remasters on Switch?

Can the Switch emulate Wii games? I'm not sure it's powerful enough.

GameCube games are rumored to come over. Should be doable with game-specific hacks since Nintendo knows the hardware better than anyone, and don't have the infringement limitations Dolphin has.

I do wonder though how aiming for games MPT or LoZ: SS works with Joy-Cons. No sensor bar, but accelerometer and gyroscope based. Maybe have a button to zero out your aiming and then work with that?

Please Nintendo.

How closely do the joycons mimic Wii remote motion controls anyway? Obviously there would be some issues with the buttons but, ignoring that, can the Wii motion controls be replicated with the joycons?

I'm wondering the same thing. I though the joy-cons could replicate the pointer capabilities of the wikmote

Absolutely, I haven't played any games on the Wii or Wii U.

I'd prefer straight ports on VC to be honest, possibly higher resolution but not adding a bunch of crap and increasing the price.

Would prefer 3DS remasters/remakes at this point.

Would love Kid Icarus Uprising with pointer controls.

Maybe a Hero of Time Majora/Ocarina HD bundle.

Also Pokemon Stars/Eclipse has to happen.

I feel like there a bunch of great Wii games that didn't get a fair shake because they were on a console that so many core gamers despise. I want to see those on the Switch. I'm talking Sin & Punishment 2, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Fragile Dreams...

Well, worst case scenario they could use the sticks like a regular console FPS.

I would prefer they do something like Dolphin with emulation of Wii games.

So something like 720p or 1080p internal resolution if possible, would make 3D games like Galaxy look great. Theoretically this would mean more titles on the system than if they had to do HD ports (although Nintendo going to Nintendo and it would still be a trickle at best). The split joycon would be a good substitute for Wiimote/nunchuck although I suppose button prompts could be an issue.

Wii->WiiU->Switch
N64->Cube->Wii

Theoricaly it is the same thing as Wii running n64 =P

But then again it would means that WiiU would have Gamecube Virtual console....

Given that it's a portable I'm totally in to lots of ports because it means it's a new place to play good games. I honestly hope everyone starts porting everything to it.

Would like Xenoblade chronicles HD on Switch that's probably never gunna happen.

Would be nice to go with number 2 that's coming.

Wii games remastered and with horrid wiggle-mote play swapped out for actual controller support...?
I would throw money at Nintendo for that, for at least half a dozen games.

The gyros and accelerometers in them seem at least as good if not better than the Wiimotes with MotionPlus, so simple waggle motions should be fine. For IR pointing, I think I read an interview with someone at Nintendo, might have been Koizumi, saying the IR camera on the bottom of the right Joy-Con should eventually be able to mimic the pointer on a Wii, potentially without need for a sensor bar.

It's not a popular request, but I'd love a collection with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask with just increased resolutions. These remakes are very good and deserve to be played on something better than 240p.

skyward sword hd would actually work thanks to the joycons. they could remove a lot of the pacing bullshit too. it would go a long way to fixing my issues with the game.

not a whole lot else comes to mind since nothing was as dramatically in need of a fix.

Absolutely. Obviously new stuff is great, but I feel like there is a lot of room for great remasters/ports on this thing. The portability alone makes me want everything Nintendo on the Switch.

If the idea was to do HD Remake / Port and drop the motion controller. Why not ?

Pandora Tower in glorious 1080p would be great, as well as Wario Land : Shake it.

I'm not opposed to it but it feels like the sort of thing that should be on the bottom of the to-do list. GameCube games have predominantly not been replayable since GCN (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime 1+2 being exceptions) and the Wii U was overlooked so it had many games people missed out on (Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Tropical Freeze).
The Wii is there in the middle, super popular enough that most games got a fair shake when they first came out and it's still re-playable on a Wii U. If they wanted to port games from Wii to Switch I'd be okay with it but I'd hope we get GameCube first.

Yes plz.

Punch Out especially comes to mind. Really quite a few games that I would like to see in higher res. It's too bad the Wii didn't at least do 720p, I feel like that would've gone a long way to having more success in its later years.

I actually want at least all first party Nintendo Gamecube, Wii, and WiiU games remastered for the Switch.

I never bought a WiiU, and didn't play my Wii that much except a few titles, so I would like to play catch up on the Switch. I think it would be a good way to pad their selection.

But if I find a good price on a WiiU, I might just buy a used one. I'm holding off on buying a Switch until I hear about the remaster/VC selection.

Can the switch handle wii emulation?

I am not certain but it has a relatively strong CPU. Android phones have Dolphin on them, not sure about performance though.

In Theory: Could Nintendo Switch/NX Virtual Console Run Wii/GameCube Games? (7/31/16)
[2:01] ...We wondered if the [Tegra] X1 could actually handle the older games… running on an Nvidia Shield TV. This is through the Dolphin emulator for Android…

There are some non Nintendo Wii games that should definitely be given a second chance in the spotlight.

Deadly Creatures
Cursed Mountain
Madworld
Elebits
Red Steel 2
The Conduit

Now 3DS there are LOTS of games that I can see getting a remaster
