The output has been abysmal this gen. Several Playstation studios have not even released a new PS5 exclusive yet. Like Naughty Dog. So no, I don't look forward to next gen, nor will I be buying a next gen console from Sony/Microsoft. I can only imagine how long it will take before their consoles get their first exclusives.

Switch 2 is probably the only new console I'll get in a long time.

I hope we won't see any next-gen consoles until at least late 2028 or 2029. I'm going to purchase a PS5 Pro for GTA VI, and I want it to last at least two years as the leading console. Yes, I'm that selfish.

We already know they will continue to support PS5 for another 5 or 6 years after. They have done it for every generation.
So if you don't want to upgrade then you don't have to.
New tech is always exciting.

Normally I would have been but the way ps5 and Xbox have been mishandled this gen (at least imo), I have no hype at all.

Moved over to pc and im pretty happy there.

I'm always somewhat hype for a new console. But its NOT definitely like the PS1-PS3 gens where the new console actually did amazing things. This is just a PC upgrade basically.

Outside of MLB The Show titles (which released until 2024 on PS4), the last cross gen game Sony released was God of War Ragnarok in November 2022, only two years after the PS5 launched. Not sure if I'd call that a 'long period'.

I'll buy whatever they release day 1 because I fall for the hype but then usually sell off the one I don't play or it collects dust.

I'm excited for new hardware but not as much as I was for say 360/ps3 or even PS4/xone.

Yes. How can you not want your games to look like the path tracing version of Cyberpunk or Requiem over the console versions? I thought RT was enough until I saw Requiem on PC.

I don't think in generations. PC is the past, the present and the future. Just continous gaming with backwards compatibility. I'm already playing path traced games, so what does generations even mean? Nothing.

I remember when Reggie said they wouldn't abandon the Wii U until customers felt satisfied with it. Obviously that's quite a difficult thing to do, but at least they gave it a good shot. When the Switch came out, I still trusted Nintendo to deliver worthwhile experiences.

In comparison, this gen has been such a disappointment, I doubt many people truly feel satisfied with what we've gotten. Who in their right mind would feel excited to buy another expensive box under these conditions? What, you want to be tricked and taken advantage of again?
