How can Republicans claim to be so patriotic, the "real Americans," yet continually threaten to bail when things don't go their way. Seems the opposite of patriotism to me.
I don't get how some idiots consider themselves patriotic, pro-american, yet revere the Confederacy. I hope none of those jackasses called for Julian Assanges "treasonous" blood (but they probably did because Fox News told them to).

Why would you comtemplate leaving? It's your job to vote for change in the next election, not leave the state and hope the problem fixes itself.

Correct...and every time I vote nothing changes. And its looking like its only getting worse. This would be why I want to leave. Its disgusting and it makes me angry.

And pretty soon we will be able to bring guns on college grounds here....awesome! *rolls eyes*

Legally: No.

Realistically: If they can get the people on their side and manage to muster up an army large enough to defend them from the US Army, who will invade to maintain its claim to the state, they could. This is just highly implausible, and most likely only Alaska of all the States and US Territories has enough of a geographical advantage to do it.

They support State rights over the now commonly accepted "Federal > State"?
they only support states rights when its something they don't like

People who want to bring guns onto campus, already bring guns onto campus. Arizona should become more liberal eventually. With the huge influx of latino's it's just a matter of time before they begin voting in large enough numbers to swing the state.

They don't give a fuck about the content of the constitution, they just like the idea of a magic book. It's like "Christians" who exclusively read from the nastier parts of the Old Testament, because Jesus' actual message is too hippy.

Is college somehow a special place where a person's rights don't apply? *rolls eyes*

Gun laws are like the "no running" sign at a public pool. The presence or absence of such a sign has zero impact on the amount of kids running around or the associated problems.

Like the "no running sign" they are reasonable safety measures that just need stricter enforcement. You don't stop making laws because people are breaking them, you enforce the law.

Supposedly Canada has more guns per capita than the US despite stricter gun control. However, most of the guns in Canada are hunting rifles and shotguns because it was recognized that concealed firearms are the most often used in crime and so the laws emphasize restricting handguns.

Quoted for truth. Having lived here most of my life I have never hated this state more than I have then now. Jan Brewer is the biggest pile of shit. I dont understand why anyone in their right mind would keep her in office. My wife and I are seriously contemplating on moving thats how much its bothered me.

You speak as if Janet Napolitano was worth a shit. She was just as fucking worthless. She was a two faced bitch that spent Arizona into the ground then got her get out of jail free card when Obama whisked her away to be head of DHS even though she couldn't even do her job as Governor of Arizona.

Latinos are a pretty conservative lot.

If the Repubs weren't so rabidly xenophobic you'd see the Hispanic vote swing that way more often.

What does Scorsese have to do with any of this?

I was just gonna say this. All of the Hispanics I worked with in AZ, all of them voted republican last year. I couldn't believe it.

that in order for this nation to function as a nation rather than a mere collection of independent nation-states, federal law would be the supreme law of the land
Either the United States is a nation or the individual states are nations. No political act could turn one nation-state into many nation-states; you would have the nation split among many sovereign states, or the nation never existed.

States are political entities. Countries are geographical entities. Nations are social entities.

Armed conflict? Not even worth considering in this day and age. Any seccession would be negotiated - it would be difficult politically for any [developed] government to deny an independence movement with overwhelming popular support.

Brewer was what I meant by quoted for the truth...but at the same time Napolitano wasnt as bad as this shit for brains bigot we have now.

all this seceding talk that redneck states sometimes rumble on about, if they actually tried that, wouldn't the rest of USA sort of.... beat them up or something?

The other constitutional position is that the Feds shouldn't be making laws that interfere with State laws.

A10: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

But those laws would, in theory, be found unconstitutional by the supreme court. The laws that the Federal Government does have authority to make, the Federal Governments versions would take precedence over the States version. Arizona legislature is going directly against the constitution here.

As a Canadian, I find this rather humourous as Quebec is also constantly threatening to secede from Canada. Although in this case, Arizona would just be plain dumb as shit to actually do this even though they can't.

1 - Lose federal funding
2 - Exodus of people & businesses wanting to remain American
3 - Income tax rate is incredibly low in Arizona and would be fucked for funding
4 - void of people means more "illegal" immigrants

I say let them do it and then fence them off hahaha

The worst thing about a US civil war 2 would be that if the confederate side wins (they might, isn't most of the military in their possession?) they would likely conquer Canada too for the oil.

I dont think the conservatives would want the liberals and vice versa. no need for war. clean split.

well at least if they secede "world champions" for our three major sports would become accurate.

The Constitution makes no mention of where you go with your gun. It merely states that you can own a gun.

There is no "right" to bring a gun on a college campus. There isn't even a right to bring a gun out of its protective case. Your only undeniable right is that you may own a gun.

EDIT: Didn't realize this thread was old.

Civil War II would be a good fucking excuse to get out of Florida.

I hope you're a teenager. I laugh at every grown ass person who complains about Florida yet still lives here. 95 north is still open last time i checked.

Save up some money and take a bus to your hometown that is so great but not good enough for you to live there.
